We got very-close-to front row seats and a free bar and stuff, so I couldn't say no, but my advice - don't bother. Aside from the odd occasional display of amazing weapon skills, it was absolutely shit. Would have rather spent the evening being messed with by Tatsujin...

I'm up for a visit this week though, so somebody let me know if they're down for an evening...
Sounds like that shaolin kung fu they show have ever year at some west end theater. should be there saturday.

It was called Chun Yi: The Legend Of Kung Fu, and was at The Collusium on St Martin's Lane. Perhaps if you're into martial arts it would be great, but to me, it felt like how my wife feels when I put on a skateboard video.

kennyrh: It's a little quiet at the moment - we just have Tatsujin and Raiden Fighters as the new boards. Should have Deathsmiles MBL in soon, and according to a conversation I had with CHI, we might be able to have a little more say in what boards from Casino's cache get put in. Maybe.

And finally - I'm in on Thursday from about 7.30pm.

So, I went down last night to a very quiet place (I think that you weren't the only one who had enough of the rain CHI!) And I finally got of the first bloody level of Tetsujin Oh. That game is a horror, but I'm starting to really love it.

Yeah that game can be quite annoying with the cpu regulation and enemy hit damage, so its all about positioning and NO FREESTYLE WIGGLING THE JOYSTICK TRYING TO LOOK COOL, AS YOU'LL BE DEMISED LIKE A FOOL!

The cpu regulates the game difficulty during play depending on how successful, or unsuccessful you skill is in dealing with each Stage, or zone. the regulation itself can vary from enemy ships having increased hit damage before they get destroyed, enemy ships firing a stray bullet at the moment it gets destroyed, enemy ships trying avoid flying into your fighter's firepower. if you have a pattern of controlling your fighter's movement for each stage, the cpu will try to anticipate your movements and try to catch you off your guard by counterattacking your pattern. Wiggling the joystick (or japanese joystick jiggle) is an old technique of trying to confuse the cpu of your anticipated movements, a bit like football where dribbling is use to confuse a defender of your movements.

'Regulation' is the word we used to use in the 80s & 90s London arcades to describe what is now known as 'Rank'.

We were out on our own, with the odd Japanese mag to refer to. We used other words like 'Clocked' to describe what is now known as 'Counter Stop'
etc.

Probably because you dont pay that much attention to detail. Had a shite game yesterday evening with Richard where the game regulated (ranked up in difficulty) on stage1 & 2 where the little suicide enemy ships kept crashing into my ship, i was lucky to reach the 3rd level boss with my last credit. failed on both time out method and destroy with blue lazer method. Might try again today before heading to the World Freerun Championships at Traflagar Square, london.

Probably because I've only played about nine credits in total! Although I meekly admit the detail thing is possibly true as well... and it just wasn't something I even thought existed to look out for...

Speaking for all hopeful random joystick wagglers who have played that game, i find enjoyment can still be had by humming along to the tunes

Definitely.

I'm sad to see it go, I've loved it to bits and 1CC'd it with all the characters on maximum amount of rank 3's before it goes psycho. But I didn't get to properly tackle Canyon or the Ice stages or really learn to play for score. :(

MBL in Casino, that would be really cool!

I was actually thinking of coming down to London again sometime shortly, but only if I could get somewhere to stay at.

Thanks again Chi_Ryu. So you bought it from the college professor eh.
Personally I won't be able to get down the arcade much to play it. I only get let out of the Booby Hatch on the seventh friday after Whitsun.
The others will no doubt play it to Deathsmiles.
