Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Call me when it gets a PC release. I'm not wasting 1 red cent on the dead as a post Xbox One.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Then if I were to download this for Christmas... What if a hacker group like the Lizard Squad attacks the marketplace again?
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
I'm hinging on a PC release too, mainly because I think "if RD III and IV are on PC then it'll be a matter of time before V as well".pegboy wrote:Call me when it gets a PC release. I'm not wasting 1 red cent on the dead as a post Xbox One.
If you're that worried then leave your payment info off of XBL until you buy the game. It's not gonna go away just because of another "for the lulz" hack.xxx1993 wrote:Then if I were to download this for Christmas... What if a hacker group like the Lizard Squad attacks the marketplace again?

Here's hoping it's not a Windows 10 exclusive when it's happening.Call me when it gets a PC release.

Surprisingly, the voice acting wasn't super forced or corny at all. Only real complaint is that Eshiria's voice is a bit too soft at times and it's hard to hear her. There's also the use of the word "bastard" and "damn" a few times, which is why it has mild language on the rating descriptor. The quality of the translation is actually decent, aside from a few awkwardly worded phrases and the fact that Eshiria refers to the Stage 6 boss as a plane, when it's an armored train. I'm surprised at the fairly decent effort that was put into the backstory of the world and characters on the website. For a game that's not even supposed to have a story, it's actually fairly interesting. It's a bit dark as well, when the true underlying purpose of the Cranassian crystals is revealed. The ending also leaves the game open for Raiden VI as well, which I hope MOSS will be able to do in the future. All in all, I liked it a lot, but I just wish that the player character wasn't an unnamed pilot who they keep referring to by his or her callsign, "Raiden". It would've fleshed out the universe a bit more to see your character talking back to the others.

Incidentally, RDIII fails to start on my Win10 machine. (of course, it could be just my hardware and not the OS itself...)Gespenst wrote:Here's hoping it's not a Windows 10 exclusive when it's happening.Call me when it gets a PC release.

Really? It works perfectly on my laptop running windows 10. Which version are you using? The Japanese PC version (that's what I'm playing) or Steam or something?gs68 wrote:Incidentally, RDIII fails to start on my Win10 machine. It better not, because this game is my Christmas gift!
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Please don't tell me it's like R-Type dark, because I don't want it to be. And how does the ending leave the game open for a sequel?Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Surprisingly, the voice acting wasn't super forced or corny at all. Pleasantly surprised last night to boot the game up to find 3 new weapons and all English everything. There is a LOT of dialog both audio and text and it's awesome to see that they put the work in to actually record English voices. When I say there is a LOT of audio, I mean like a hundreds (if not low thousands) of lines. Visual gripes aside, the game has won me over. Hopefully it gets a bigger release (PC/PS4) so others can enjoy it.

Well, uh, you see, the game ends with the death of your only daughter at the age of 4 following her short but tortured bout with leukemia. In reality you had never been an elite fighter pilot combatting an alien menace, you were a commercial flight attendant, and you had been making up stories to tell your daughter to entertain and impress her during the long periods of time she was bed-ridden. In her dying moments, she vividly imagined the events of the game.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Fired up the game, downloaded the 1.2 patch, and I can confirm that everything is now in English, even though I started with my disc-based Japanese version. And when I say "everything," I mean there is not a single trace of Japanese left, nor does there appear to be a language option to change it back (which I find somewhat surprising). I guess it sets the game language based on the system language? Even the game's dialogue is fully voiced over. And while I prefer Japanese voice acting as a matter of course, there's zero chance I'd be able to read subtitles while playing this game, so I guess I don't really have any qualms with this. Still, I hope they'll add language switches in the future. I'd imagine there will be a few folks who would like the option of switching languages.
In other news, I now know what it's like to play a shmup with constant talking in a language that I actually understand. It's...interesting...not what I'm used to, but it definitely adds to the originality of the experience (and it can be muted if you want). And holy crap, you now have 9 weapon options right out of the gate (3 for each of the red/blue/purple colors). The play styles differ considerably, so I'm looking forward to trying them all when I get to spend more time with this game.
I will likely double dip, though it will depend entirely on the North American price; I have spent $50 on it already, so I'm hoping it'll be less. But I'm psyched that it's getting a wider audience, and so soon. I am hopeful that it'll at least get noticed by some, and that they'll sell some copies. Granted, it won't take much to sell more here than in Japan.

In North America, it is not dead at all. Quite the opposite, actually. Between the robust media features, backwards compatibility, support for external HDDs, and other consumer-friendly features, as well as the excellent game library, Microsoft is really delivering, and the 10+ million owners seem pretty happy and eager to purchase software, myself included. I am hopeful that this audience will react positively to Raiden V later this month. Console wars are stupid, and really, everyone here should root for shmups regardless of their platform. I, for one, am looking forward to more new releases on both X1 and PS4. Nobody here benefits if our games don't succeed.pegboy wrote:dead as a post Xbox One.

Whatever, I'm not buying that piece of shit Xbox One for a single game. Everything else on that "platform" is complete shit and I have no interest in playing horrible games made for idiots. Let me know when this comes out for the PC, then I might care.

Alright, enough shitposting, let's get back on topic...shall we, or rather, lets probably complain about the price, lol. Going what lifelower says here, I hope you guys have enough cash getting it digitally, lol. ($50 US/£50 EU)

(Or just get it physically, which would already patch the English content in regardless, lol.)

Its €49.99 not £50. In the Uk it should be about £39.99 which is fine. Do you think Moss was wrong to price it at $49.99?.Cuilan wrote:The prices are set by the publishers. As for what the price of this one might be, my guess would be no less than $30 and no more than $40.Alfred wrote:Do you think it will be the same price as other Moss games digitally eg around £19.99 or full price?. The console war shitposting in this thread is revived yet again! Any time more news comes out about it, it flares up the insecurities of those who choose not to play the game because of it being on a certain gaming platform. There were times where I thought these forums were a little more mature than shit like NeoGAF or VGCharts, but any time this kind of thing happens, it reminds me of how wrong that idea can be.
