Do you have any recommendations for a s-video to RGB converter that works with 240p?

From what I have read it seems that some high-end units from i.e. Kramer does not support 240p?

Is there such a thing as a M/M SCART coupler? I can't find any anywhere! Failing that, what is the best short (less than 1m) SCART cable one can buy?

I found this BVM-20f1u on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/231057684162?ss ... 1423.l2649). I might be bidding on it with the hopes of getting it cheapish. My question to the community here is is it worth it considering the condition that it's in? Is the chipped screen repairable?

Thank you.

Remember that you need a control unit for it, which this auction doesn't sell.

Do you mean this? - http://www.cabledepot.co.uk/scart-coupl ... -1798.html

If you mean plug to plug I've never seen that.

Will scanlines produced by the slg HD/YUV be more pronounced when using 2 x slg HD/YUV in series and set on odd or even lines? Just asking before I try it out at home.

scanlines are restriced to the level they're are, because after that the signal looses sync. If you chain 2 units, your TV (or processor) will likely no longer recognize the signal.

In Europe 250 EUR incl. control unit and delivery are fair, when the unit's in nice condition. And if you're in the US, you're looking for a F1U, not a F1E.

Issue with Sony Trinitron KV-29X1U CRT

Post by rjay63 »

Hi there guys, first post. I have the above TV and on the left edge of the screen there are what looks like "white static" flickers from top to bottom. I've had a look around the service menu and also inside the TV and have found nothing that could be the cause. Any ideas on what it could be and how to fix it? Other than that the picture is great for such a large CRT so it would be a shame to scrap it .

Thanks in advance

Just started playing Batrider a couple of days ago and i've noticed that sometimes when I shoot down the large sign at the beginning of stage one, a flock of birds flies out which can be shot down for extra points. Most of the time I don't trigger these birds though, anyone know what causes it?

They typically appear after you destroy the building (barn?) first, then shooting down the sign. Are you shooting the sign first, which glitches the game to pop out the flamingos?

Ahh right. Yeah I normally just shoot the sign down first then take out the building. I'll give that a go.

Monitor Geometry adjustment.

I have access to a chipped PS1, softmodded PS2 and a chipped Saturn.

My display is a Sony KX-14CP1.

I adjusted the image (internally) so that Metal Slug X (240p - as used by Fudoh on his site) fitted perfectly but other machines like the Saturn have pretty significant overscan.

Was just wondering what would be a better way of adjusting the image for general use and if underscanning slightly is preferred to overscan?

Maybe some related DVD plugged into my PS2 would be okay?

Thanks in advance.

MSX isn't a good for geometry adjustments. The PS1 uses full 240 lines, but the game - being a NG conversion - only uses 224 lines. PS2 and Saturn in general have lower line resolutions than a PS1...

you should be able to use any genuine 240p PS1 title. Just stay away from anything converted from an arcade release. But honestly, there isn't a setting to accomodate all your systems. If you adjust your screen for a fullscreen PS1 title, Saturn titles will always show severe underscan (borders). If you're ok with loosing some parts of the image due to overscan, you might prefer to use system with a lower res output for adjusting the display.

Thanks for the tip. Chocobo Racing is full 240p at the menu so I'll be using that.

After loading MSX up in eSPXe it seems to have a border surrounding it that would have made my settings overscan horribly on everything else.

Cheers.

Are there forums that exist in Japan that dedicate/have a shmup section? If so, please list below.

Is the XCAPTURE-1 confirmed to be lagless? (or less than 1 frame at least)

What settings do you have to change for it to be lagless?

Any idea how to get the most accurate MAME emulation speed settings? I find that games I have on retail release (Mars Matrix, Dodonpachi, DDP DOJ) feel like they are running a good lick faster on MAME than I am used to. I have played around with the speed settings and taken this down from 1.00, but is there a way to calculate or more accurately gauge where the speed should be set?

Also, is slowdown emulated / reproduced in MAME? It doesn't feel like it to me, but could be wrong...

P.S. Trap15 is a knobhead.

It's a fucking question, how can I be wrong? Unless you are referring to the statement re: your being a knobhead, in which case I would cite your last as further evidence.

Seriously, can someone talk to me about emulation speed in MAME?

Um, as far as I know, mame always believes in accurate emulation without hacks. So if a game says its running on 100% speed then its at the speed the arcade game ran on. Unless you have your PC overclocked and somehow its messing with mame timings.

I have played, DOJ, ESPgaluda on mame and PS2 didnt notice any significant difference in speed (not talking slowdowns). Regarding slowdowns, ports are generally a bit off while mame should be 100% exact given the game is fully emulated.

This is not hardware related but its a question that does not deserve a thread.

What does 'loop clear' mean when talking about 1cc or loops in general.

How about we make a shmup terminology/jargon/slang thread, i never really considered myself as a n00b until coming here, i feel slightly out of my depth.
