Great to see another Macross fan! Just this past weekend got some stuff signed by Mari Iijima (of Lynn Minmei fame) including the Macross Flashback laserdisc :) Also got the bandai hi-metal version of the armored 1/60 vf-1j gbp-1s in the mail yesterday. Love the gbp-1s armor so I try and get all the versions that get put out by the various companies.

Picked up this lego battlepod over the weekend too

Glad they reissued the Gunbuster GX-34. I wasn't really interested in paying aftermarket prices for the 2006 release.

Owned the following statue for a little while now, but haven't had a good geek at it until now apart from a quick damage/ fault check when it first arrived.

and for some proof I do play video games sometimes: some Saturn goodies.

I have that Gunbuster. Are there any differences on the reissue?

I want to go to Macross World next year. I just found out about it today. I got Shoji Kawamori to sign my DYRL LD in 98.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

They seem to be identical aside from colour, with the reissue probably a tad closer to the iris paint job in the OVA.

Reminds me of that one time when I felt tempted by a SCUD Race cab, but came to my senses quickly. Not that I have no regrets, mind.

I have all of these, legit. When they pulled Vol. 10, from the shelves, due to Godzilla Vs. Megalon...I thought "uh, I better get these, quick!".

I've tried to keep up.

Can you just imagine the price the Gamera set, will cost, once it goes out of print?

Still, I don't think the whole series will ever be collected. Too many rights issues.

A lot of money... think I paid 70,000 yen for it.

The real stinger was the Wondermega... most expensive console I've ever bought by a long shot... worth every penny though, it's frickkin' awesome! :D

That's half the eBay price.

Now for a little scare; apparently there's plenty of extremely well done repros out there. *cold sweat*

When I look at mine I don't evenwant to know lol (thankfully I bough it before the start of the retro pricing apocalypse).

Yeah, I'm not paying eBay prices... especially, as you say, there are a lot duds out there.

Fortunately, mine is legit or else I'd never have bought it.

If you think you're looking at a fake check the insert thoroughly - the copy work isn't that good at close inspection and the "softvision" logo is blurred.

Do I wanna know how much that was?

I got mine 10 years ago for 180€. :D Had it RGB modded as well. It's a beautiful system.

I'd say that was a good buy even back then, especially if it was fully boxed.

I'm not saying how much I paid for it, but it's like new, no faults and fully boxed with all inserts, cables, and original JVC control pad with no logo fade.
I'll be using it with S-Video, don't want to mod it.

Goddamn no, never mod a wondermega.

I'd gloat in your face and tell you what mine cost, rarest Sega model, fully boxed, but it would surely make you cry. So I won't. Enjoy it, one of the coolest consoles ever for sure!

Never modded a console, probably never will. Just a shame the WM doesn't output RGB like the Mega Drive 1 does.

I finally had to get one (the original Victor / JVC unit), so the price was, almost, irrelevant. Still, should bought one years ago when the prices were a little easier on the eye and the wallet!

Hey, strange thing this, nowadays I see more of the Sega models coming up for sale than the Victor units. Not that I need two of them, but it'd be kinda cool to have the Sega one as well.

I'm around the 3/4 mark of the Japanese book I set out on, Hateshinaki Nagare no Hate ni, which has held my interest quite well. I got a very recent reprint, but figured I'd poke around for an original print (even though it was published as a book about 8 years after it was serialized in SF Magazine). The cover was too dope to pass up.

I would totally mod a wondermega for RGB. I'd just use the modem port for the RGB. That's what I had planned on doing.

I've seen that mod, I looked into it before. But I just don't want to touch that thing unless something terrible befalls it, like the laser dying.
