Got my first console shmup 1CC! Star Parodier! (character: Bomberman)

Took me forever, and wound up with a score of 3.85 million and change, thanks to some copious amounts of impromptu checkpoint milking on the last stage. Yeah... let's call it that.

Related note: fuck the heart mechanic. (When you die, you get sent back to the last checkpoint, unless you have a heart item. Heart items drop randomly)

Other than that, it's a nice romp. Interesting bosses and setpieces, reminded me a LOT of Parodius (in a good way), both in style and in gameplay. There's some serious memo involved in parts, a nice change of pace from the series' typical I-can't-believe-it's-not-Compile gameplay style (not that there's anything wrong with that style or anything, but this game does a nice job of spicing things up). Some of the bosses can get a bit cheap though... especially the fish. Fuck that fish.

Thanks! I followed your progress and it inspired me a good deal. I remember when I first got the game I was getting wrecked by the stage-2 boss. I'm pretty sure I can nail +10 million in the first loop eventually.

Got the 1cc in two Touhou games recently, Lotus Land Story and The Story of Eastern Wonderland. Both on Normal. TSOEW is pretty un-Touhou-like in places (I was pretty surprised when the tank showed up as the Stage 1 mid-boss). There doesn't seem to be a high-score thread for it - I guess people don't really play that one for score?

If I remenber correctly the game have a very simple scoring mechanic but extremely frustrating. Since there are other 2 PC-98 games with a decent scoring system people only care about LLS and MS (I think that MS is one of the best I've seem on a Touhou, only surpased by IN, PCB and on the same level as UFO). I did tried to do some scoring on TSoEW but it was really boring... Didn't even cared to practice Hard or Lunatic modes.

Finally cleared the first loop of DoDonPachi. I was playing the PS1 version, so my max chain was only 203 - no 2nd loop for me.

Final score was an awesome 36 million, not even good enough to qualify for the high score table...

That's not too shabby, I've been playing the same ship setup in the arcade whenever I get the chance and always get killed at the lasers. I probably need to put a little more effort in tbh, but I'm obsessed with triggering the ura route and the stage 2 boss always caps me when I go for the bee.

well i cleared the game before without the TLB, coz the first time i reached it, didnt know what to do...
so practiced like crazy on segment select, my full runs were always getting screwed either at segment 6 or not getting satisfaction level on 8.

was doing a casual run, till i reached garland, and finally got full satisfaction. the adrenaline was gonna make me throw up, so paused the game took a 5 min breather, unlocked the TLB, waited for my eyes to burn out from all the filters and the screen to turn black.

1 year of practice and it finally paid off.

the strangest thing just happened, I just cleared deathsmiles for the first time on the 360 then also cleared black label with a different character..

I normally play on a 29inch crt but today just hooked up the 360 to a desk top lcd and cant help but think the game felt significantly easier on the lcd
