How many Japanese 360 games are there which aren't region locked? I'm not aware of many offhand...I'd guess that there are far more US 360 titles which are region free. Is it reasonable to assume that MS Japan is responsible for the widespread locking of J360 discs?GaijinPunch wrote:Interesting though that the region lock was not within his power to change. Isn't he the shacho of 5pb? Wonder if Microsoft-J swings their dicks around for such releases.

Well, considering how many messages and whatnot Cliff must get compared to what this guy probably receives (especially from anyone outside of Japan) it's not an entirely fair comparison...and that's not even considering the likely quality of some of these messages ("have you tweaked xyz to the arcade specifications" versus "z0mg moar chainsaw lolololol"). Still, that doesn't change the fact that it is cool that the guy replied.

I really doubt any developer has any real control over that stuff. At best maybe they can ask for it to go one way or another and if the publisher happened to not have a policy/not care they might listen.
Distribution restrictions/decisions are firmly in the publisher's realm of
control.

Interesting though that the region lock was not within his power to change. Isn't he the shacho of 5pb? Wonder if Microsoft-J swings their dicks around for such releases.

I know you're being sarcastic, but in all honesty, it seems that the social aspect of Live is, for lack of a better term, lost on most Japanese players. Many of the Japanese guys I've played against in SNR have very few (if any) friends on their lists. I'm sure that some of the other members here in Japan can probably go into further detail here.antares wrote:So whats the point in having 71,000 gamerscore and no friends to impress them with it?Minzoku wrote:Kiken says he's the only one on the guy's Friends listso it's not TOO surprising he responded
One thing I'll give Sakari is that he seems to enjoy a great variety of genres. One night he was playing Garoudensetsu Special, the next Fable II, and most recently Left 4 Dead.
I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to break the 96 hour mark in RFA without at least nailing 50 million in one of the games... or unlocking the Almost Master achievement.

Then obviously he played only for survival.Kiken wrote: One thing I'll give Sakari is that he seems to enjoy a great variety of genres. One night he was playing Garoudensetsu Special, the next Fable II, and most recently Left 4 Dead.

Also that doesn't sound like the typical shoot 'em up fan. I wonder if someone like him is really up to porting a shmup properly.

Well, do you get your high scores to post them on the internet, or for personal experience? I know it's cool to wave one's willy, but for the most part, I do it for me.

Kinda proves my point.originalz wrote:You can choose to not have your friends list be visable to other people, so it's likely that he just chose that option, as do many Japanese players for the sake of privacy.

I'd really like to have a concrete answer to that myself.... more so than the other questions but that's just me and all.Can you ask that matey - `Will Ketsui 360 have scanline support a la Raiden Fighters Aces?` please. Cheers.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

it really seems to come down to the game.I know you're being sarcastic, but in all honesty, it seems that the social aspect of Live is, for lack of a better term, lost on most Japanese players.
Chromehounds had a ton of very sociable Japanese people on it, as did PS2 Monster Hunter.
I find it all fascinating. The difference in tactics between Japanese CH teams and US/European team is pretty pronounced.
anyways, back to the Ketsui plot and online.
Not so much willy waving (hell, i'm going to suck royally) but with privacy on there's not much fun in the way of the leaderboards. Depends on how serious people take it really, i've found GS and leaderboards pretty motivating without being too dick waving and a game like Ketsui could be great fun for this group (until it's announced that scores from non Japanese IP addresses aren't allowed in the weekly/overall chart!

LOL at him only having one friend?!Kiken wrote:You know, I could always shoot Sakari a message over Live asking him about it (he accepted my friend request), if someone is willing to help me phrase the question properly.GaijinPunch wrote:If this is to be a proper port, it will ask you when you start the game if it's to be 1 loop or 2.
I tried to friend Mihara but he ignored me. Still, I can see his GeoWars2 scores and they are pretty goddamn high.

Someone I know, from these forums, who did the same thing with Senko no Ronde and the 100 Hour achievement it has. You know who you are.

OT-I completed the first loop of Ketsui PCB this afternoon using 1 credit. It feels nice to be finally part of the `club` at my favourite game ever.
