Tis a shame that TTI made the ultimate decision back in early January of 1994 not to distribute/sell the NEC 32-bit powered PC-FX console in the USA and thus, local retailers quickly decided to put the remaining TurboGrafx-16 & Turbo Duo hardware + software stock on clearance during the entire 1994 year timeline and into 1995. True story. In hindsight, a mere 61 PC-FX CD titles were released/produced during it's limited lifespan.trap15 wrote:Sorry, I love the PC-FX for a lot of weird reasons, but I don't think it qualifies as "awesome"Sgt.Wafer wrote:[PC-FX stuff]![]()
Nice get on the system CIB though, such a cute box and logo and console.

Top gear there, all of 'em ("Puzzle League" is Panel de Pon). Well, I don't know about Dr. Mario, but if it really was originally designed by Gunpei Yokoi, I owe it some goes.
I feel a bit guilty, hogging Kuru Kuru Kururin carts like that (it's the 2nd I've got), but I hope to play it with another person one of these days. Actually, I AM guilty of not having checked out whether multiplayer even demands multiple cartridges. Silly me. Some games are worth paying twice for, but owning more one system versions than I'm likely to need for myself doesn't sit well with me.
Then again, if I get to see my nephew grow up, here's hoping he'll be videogaming and this spare cart might eventually make for a present.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

This is a bunch of stuff I've been getting this year. Some of it very recently (especially the XBox stuff, Gun Nac, UK, and Shadow of the Ninja), some of it a batch of months ago.
Don't tell SkyKid about my sealed copies of Kirby and Shadow. He might want to rip them open, on YouTube.
If it makes him feel any better, I bought every single XBox game new, and I opened all of them.

Although, if I ever find a complete Battle Formula, I may pass out.

Took me two years to find one for a price I was willing to pay. So...yeah. Keep at it!evil_ash_xero wrote:Although, if I ever find a complete Battle Formula, I may pass out.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I almost wish GunValkyrie boxart was framed less gratuitously as the way it is, most beholders mightn't appreciate how nicely drawn it is. In a world where even Kamitani keeps getting away with his take on human anatomy, it's a bit of a waste of good art.

I've sorta thought the same thing. You just notice that butt, and nothing else. The art is not bad at all.Obiwanshinobi wrote:I almost wish GunValkyrie boxart was framed less gratuitously as the way it is, most beholders mightn't appreciate how nicely drawn it is.
And you only see her in that outfit, in the opening cinema. So, it's just stuff to get teenage boys to buy the game.

I can't remember, honestly. It was a little earlier this year. Wasn't cheap.

Got a few GBA's recently for my backlight modding efforts.
2x working AGB-001's, 2x broken AGS-101's.

2x "Rainbow Digital" adapter ribbon cables. These adapters allow you to hold down Select and press L to change the brightness between 5 levels for a switch-less solution (beats having to install an ugly switch into the case).

Hopefully I can get around to modding these this week.

The 8bitdo FC30 controller has one of the nicest d-pads that I know of since the original NES or SNES pads. It's a bluetooth enabled controller with very little (if all) lag, and it can also be used via usb. It plays nice with my laptop (via usb or BT) and with this little gem I got for my birthday last month:

A samsung galaxy tab S, 8.4", 16gb wifi only. It's my first real Android device (excluding the OUYA) and what can I say? I'm in love with this Tab and with emulation on the go. Currently I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 (Snes us version) on it. The FC30 controller works like a charm on it.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)

Two of the lamest videogame boxarts I've seen:

Although I can see how the UDHD one could be considered comercially "safer" here than its character pics for the publisher. 1 player-only, though, really? Dragon's Crown PS3 one at least isn't all t&a (which Kamitani is particulary cack-handed at depicting).

Rising Star Games, yay!

Picked it up once tempted by the single cart co-op, not have tried whether co-op is single cart yet, or just the deathmatch. Not as polished a game as Max Payne GBA, but - paradoxically - seems to have aged better (all the game engine quirks are very "survival horror", but it performs better than MP and it so reminds me of Flashback). Could its round icons be doing it for me?

Enough said.

Obiwanshinobi... Excellent choice on Eternal Sonata, probably the best modern JRPG I've played in a long while.. it's imperfect, and at times frustrating.... but overall it was fantastic, great OST.
My recent Saturn haul, finally acquired Soukyugurentai.
Love me some 32bit-era fighting games.... there's actually another one in here but it got destroyed in transit so... no pics.

Ōkami HD (download) and a 60 GB HDD for my PS3, hoping I won't need any bigger.
Every now and then I feel tempted to buy the J-Saturn DoA just for the cover art, but I resist as all the 1vs1 games I've got remain pretty much unplayed.

Upgrading the harddrive on a PS3 is dead easy, also there's an English-subtitled Japanese release out there that's not terribly expensive if you need the space. (I have it but haven't tried it yet).

Oh man - I'm looking for a Starship Troopers pinball machine like forever and here it just stands there

it has a certain story itself
we were at an auction in southwest france (a massive arcade operator bankrupt), some talking with people and someone says me.. i sell it. ok i say i take it. we have a word for it. one parole only for the next month & birthday date exact. i went back to paris for work... weeks pass i count really on it..when time to come back is there, the man answers me at phone.. it's sold
some years later.. a starship troopers pinball appears in "leboncoin" sales, i go for it.. it was the sold one who reappeared.. the man , an artist working in TV animes, says me he has tweaked it and that could be a problem.. i go there, losts for hours in roads.. the entire night in lost places
.. but i got it.. the pinball was astonishing in display. he worked and painted, modeled parts, put inks, shadows, polish, big brain repainted in flesh colors, he included starshiptroopers mininatures (micromachines range) painted again to create a scenette diorama of horror. there is a custom bug hunter moving, the work is seriously beyond the original "cheap toy aspect"...
, more of a warhammer40k look obviously, more serious in colors, (but the game is still hilarious). from my 14 pinballs, some have a reason for visual future ambiance too (scifi, movies,).

More likely it takes up just as much disk space as the download version, like WipEout HD Fury physical release. Essentially the same code, now with disc check (WipEout HD Fury download actually comes with downloadable Vita version, that disc release doesn't provide).broken harbour wrote:Upgrading the harddrive on a PS3 is dead easy, also there's an English-subtitled Japanese release out there that's not terribly expensive if you need the space. It's amazing how Capcom spared no effort to make Ōkami widely accessible (no version's ever been rare or expensive; I actually discovered it while browsing through PS2 games in a shopping mall). Ōkami HD (and the PC port of Valkyria Chronicles) are those all too rare cases of the publishers not abandoning their games long after they hadn't sold all that well.
