I just bought a house near London for an eye-watering price. Feel like my life has been in limbo for the last few years while I saved up, so this will hopefully be a nice chance to start building some savings again and kick off some hobbies. I'm thinking of building an aquarium first as I've always wanted one. After that I'm thinking either arcade machine or motorbike...

Found this Irem side art while looking for parts to do a full restoration of my Madonna, and I thought it might be a nice addition to the arcade room. It will probably be a month or so before I have time to do the restoration, but I figured I would go ahead and get the side art framed.

Getting the bubble out made me a bit nervous.

I cut the excess out and mounted it on some white paper since there was a bit of grime outside the logo.

It's on a few of their late 80s/early 90s console games, at least in Japan - Metal Storm's Famicom box is where I know it from. At first I thought it'd be a robotic helper/enemy in the game itself, haha.

Looks beautiful, JCS.

^ good. it is said that it works for a comfortable majority (about 7/10 individuals) who can quit tobacco without going nuts thanks to it.

me -> after 1 year of exclusive e-cig i've reduced the nicotine dosage to about 5mg (started with 16mg!) and I barely use it now, only a few minutes every day.
In a months I believe I will be nicotine-free, for good.

Then it will be time for my next planned struggle; fighting the beer/glass and greasy/sugary food 'okawari' syndrome. :|

Good luck, I put on about 45lbs since I quit smoking and I've lost the same 15lbs about 4 times now.

Congrats, that's awesome. Yeah, I quit cold turkey before for about two years and started up again about two years ago. Had a job where everyone smoked around me. I couldn't hold out.

I've been using mine for about a week now and I can already breathe better. I'm using 19mg right now. Having no problems whatsoever doing without the analogs. Even if I did get my nicotine mg level down I'd still probably get some 0-3 mg just to mess around with the thing every now and then.

I use to be a 2-2 1/2 pack a day smoker when I decided to quit. The patch did it for me, an I haven't had a craving since. Been about ten years too. You do have crazy dreams if you sleep with it on, but I always considered that a plus. Good luck!

You ... cut ... that.

(edit this might not be what I feared it was, but still...)

Hey people - don't be cutting original arcade artwork, seriously just don't do it. Ever.

Never ever do this. Do it to repros.

Well he did find it. But I would have just printed one out if I needed to frame it.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

That old IREM logo looks great, so I took the liberty to recreate it. On the sticker I don't think too much details of the "Cyber-Dragonfly" were preserved, so I used another source for that. Preview and a PDF download link below. If somebody does a T, I want one for free  And thanks of course to jasoncslaughter for the great find!

If somebody wants the open data file(s), just PM me.

Very cool. I wonder what the story was with that critter. Looks distinctive enough to star in his own biomechanical STG.

edit: oh google <3

As Irem entered the 1990s, their logo included a dragonfly because in Japan, dragonflies symbolize "martial success," due to similarity in the sound of the word "dragonfly" and "victory" in Japanese.

I don't think there's any accident at all that it looks like a Galaxian one, they did release a version of that game.

Sorry, I love the PC-FX for a lot of weird reasons, but I don't think it qualifies as "awesome"
Nice get on the system CIB though, such a cute box and logo and console.
