This is in the mail for me, Umihara Kawase love in the house
Now me also. Thanks to Sparky for the tip. First time I ordered from AmiAmi in forever because I got burned so hard in the UK by customs tax, hopefully here it won't be the same.

Think I got lucky. Soon as I got my order confirmation it was marked as sold out on the store. I just wanted the bonus figure, really.

This will be the third and final time I attempt to get into Umihara Kawase. Really hope it all comes clear this time because my Vita is really of use.

I am glad you picked it up. I noticed it was gone shortly after we discussed it. I cannot say for certain that this is the game that will stick but it was much more accessible to me. I finished two routes now and I continue to play through trying to master the mechanics.

It is my birthday! And since I'm a dork and wanted to open some presents on my birthday I got some gifts from myself to myself.

Image
Yeah, it's leftover christmas paper.

Image
There were some good things in there!

Image
Closeup of the main one, repro cart with the english translation, came with a box (repurposed NDS game box) and a Franklin badge. Now I will be immune to projectiles! Well, lightning, at least.

Update: I built the scorpion.

Image

But I had a lot of parts left over, which I felt could not stand, so I gave it some upgrades:

I present to you the LC514 Scorpion Tank: Mechanized Assault Arachnid

It's a good pan! It's not the first of the kind I get, but the one I had was starting to get worn out, so I had picked that one up on a sale. I have now officially inaugurated it by using it to cook my birthday dinner consisting of ribeye steak.

Was one of the better ribeyes I've cooked.

(also started playing Mother 3 and yeah it's quite good)

In great shape for 60.00..... pretty happy about the price and great condition.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Super Famicom + sd2snes! Hooray! :D

I used to own a SNES when I was a kid, but was dumb enough to sell it after some years. But now I bought the console again. I'm really happy because SNES was my very first console, and it's still my favorite to this day. So it holds a special place in my heart.

sd2snes is the best flashcart for the console. It was a bit pricey, but totally worthy getting it as well. :)

So there was the annual retro game fair here yesterday. Was fun to visit, though this year I didn't buy much at all. Only these:

Image

Had been looking for a storage case for Gamecube discs for a while. The Metroid Prime Gamecube plate I haggled down to two thirds of the asking price during the last hour of the fair.

And today I picked up this:

I got this Galaxy Note II as a gift from a super cool friend whose wife had upgraded from that to a Note 4. I only had to pay $80 for shipping and import tariffs... but down here in Huezil, this same phone sells for $250~300 used or $550 new. It's not exactly the one I would buy (I am not fond of the changes Samsung did to Android), but it's quite beyond what I'd be able to afford (or at least than I'd be able to justify spending to myself), so it's a badass gift.

This game has some control problems, and some parts are drawn out too long (the ending), but it's a hoot.
I like the story, as well.
Funny, I like EVERY Kamiya story, except for Bayonetta. Which is his most popular creation.

Adding to the repro-cart posts (sorry for the crummy phone pic):

Image

Bought a Starfox 2 repro for a good price. It had an ugly gold-painted case and roughly printed and faded label.
The mod itself looks great, nice and clean, it originated from a Stunt Race FX so it has battery back-up. I ended up swapping the case with a spare, and printed off a nice vinyl label.

I don't pick up much these days but I regretted selling my Famicom Twin last year so I took the plunge and picked this up. Classic Japanese home gaming. I will probably pick up a Disk System later on for a few of the Disk only gems. I should've gone the Faimcom+Disk System combo over the twin in the first place. Just need to get a longer pad now :/ and I'll probably mod my Sanwa Dreamcast stick for more control-demanding games.. Gradius on a pad is a bloody nightmare.. Need my old Capcom Stick ideally.

New 29'' Tri-sync in a box. Finding a good 100% compatible monitor for the X68000 is a total bitch, so I said fuck it and bought this monster. Very expensive, but it should last me a very long time. And I am completely pleased with the results.

One of these days I oughta do that.

Got some cheap crap today from the store, all worth at least what I paid:

Super-sunfaded boxed copies of Shinobi III and Maximum Carnage, both Genesis, $4, hanger tabs included. Not bad, might offload them at some point.
Resident Evil 6 Archives (shame about the remakes probably being used already, but not a bad price again).

The thing I'm not excited about, though, had me doing a double take. It looked like a binder in a slipcase but it said "Overvoltage protection" on the spine/cover. And there seemed to be something inside. Hmm...

It's not just a catalog but also a physical sample book of transient surge protection devices from ABB, mounted to a metal rail inside, 11 in all, all likely different types. It's so unusual that I had to get it. Quite likely the actual electronics are worth much more than what I paid, too. I oughta put it on a shelf somewhere where people would be likely to go "oh, hmm...what's this?"

At this point I think I prefer my Genesis stuff brutally sunfaded, especially the fuglier covers. ^__^ My trusty secondhand Bloodlines has THE REAL A̶R̶C̶A̶D̶E̶ RENTAL PLACE FEEL

Yeah, that memory of walking through American rental places (or small markets) in the '90s with rows of sunfaded VHS covers (or just a few choice ones in the case of the market - you can't go wrong with a selection like Sleepaway Camp and Ice Cream Man) and a Neo Geo 4-slot in the back - pretty special in a funny way. I'm sure lots of people would tell me it was an airbrushed, mass-merchandized trauma and not a real memory, but there you have it.

Bonus points for the fugly water damage look on these inserts though.
