If you are referring to my two DK items those are officially licensed Nintendo figures. Ther are not Amiibos.

Couple more GB softs for my tiny collection of tiny carts.

OH MUH GOODNESS, RETURN OF SEAMUS. monochrome action in confusing labyrinth. Used to find this weak but really took a shine to its single-sitting run.

Image

Tenjining muh Kaisen. Novel Meldac-published shooter that got an overseas release as Mercenary Force, but unlike NES stablemate Zombie Nation it's actually playable.

Nice pickups. I approve of the box art on both. Always loved that Samus illustration.

^^^The first compact disc I ever bought, complete with the long cardboard box that CD's used to come in. 8) The first song is quite possibly their best imo.

What do you guys think of the remaster job they did a few years back?

Mario figure was on sale at Target for $2 I think? Also my first Amiibo. No I am not collecting them. I just love anything Donkey Kong. So I will get DK next and that's it.

More like NOMNOMNOM-isis, mirite (I rabu dis game). Suprised at how well it holds up - the sequel has its immense mini-theatrical flow, but this one dishes out more intense and persistent action. Both worth having for sure.

Image

Also, pardon the serial killer cam (2DS baybee!) some more RLY USEFUL BOXES to keep my little library snug and dry. These things own, were they secretly designed for me? No for real, the fit on 36 MD snapcases is ridiculously smoove.

Haha. They're addictive little things. :3

edit: OH LAWD, LEAVE ME ALONE GURADIASU 3:

Image

Surprisingly satisfying little port - the bullets really fly once rank's up. Lacks the booming production and arcade+ additions of Umechan Team's stellar Salamander, Contra, Gradius II & Super Contra quartet, but delivers on no-nonsense action. And actually has some interesting, less obvious additions of its own (hidden bonuses + extends dotted about, a Raiden Fighters-esque secret autofire mode that's a blast to trigger under pressure, some neat level warps with similarly stuntin' requirements). Also keeps track of your current loop - as always, I like it when games acknowledge this. More than just a historical piece.

Famicom Gradius is almost certainly the single best selling STG consumer release of all time, discounting the Atari 2600.

I'm pretty sure Xevious outsold Gradius on Famicom, but you are almost certainly right if you include worldwide NES sales

I remember CIT once mentioning FC Twinbee being a massive hit too.

I've never looked up official data but I've indeed always seen the FC ports of Gradius, Twinbee and Xevious cited as the big swingin' dongs of commercial Japanese STG success.

Yeah, Xevious and Twinbee had a lot of success because they were early year famicom games with less competition. Xevious seems to always appear near the top of many Japanese Famicom game rankings as well.

Luckily I could pick most of these up within the province/country, so the USD>CAD situation didn't make this too awkward... Still, less and less good NES titles in the wild.

That was the idea. Xevious' NES port arrived in the West much too late to make an impact, and the original Twinbee never crossed the Pacific. Unsure if Gradius outsold Life Force on NES in the US, though. The latter seems to get mentioned a lot more often by nostalgic Americans who lack a special interest in the genre, such as when describing other STGs as being "like Life Force."

Just picked up a Boss ME-50B and a TC Helicon Voicelive 2 (the Electroharmonix POG is awesome too, but I've had it for years).

Image

Clearly I have some cable management issues to be fixed. The best part, though, is what I'm using them for:

Image

I can pretty much create whatever sounds I need through the tuba with this setup. A drummer friend of mine wants to start a duo, and he wants to put a 40" bass drum on his kit. I'm pretty sure we will destroy the world.

You might have seen this already, but it's a great insight into the making of the album by Roger O'Donnell.

The only bad thing about the lp is it's missing two tracks.
