Hi,

The company is "Unlicensed" and therefore no barcode. These were made for a competition and sold ONLY at the competition in 1992.

Thanks Cincy
so i replied: "oh wow. that's pretty awesome. how did you get your copy? were you at the competition?"

I just sent this:
Hello!
Been interested in finding an official copy of this for years, and yours is the first that I've seen! Can you guarantee that it's not one of the $51 pirate copies that are being sold everywhere? I am prepared to hit "buy it now" and send you the cash ASAP!

Here is the link to the reproduction copies.

( Site redacted! Don't want to break any rules here! )
http://rXXXanes.net/

However, if you bought this in 1992 in Japan I'm guessing that it is not a reproduction...? Thanks!

Got a reply:
Hi,
I did purchase this in 1992, but a few people have told me (through Ebay) that this is a reproduction, One said because they never made a USA copy, So I'm not 100% sure. All I know is I bought it a long time ago and I just want to see it.

Just to be clear, you did buy this in Japan in 1992 at the Summer Carnival event? If that's the case, then that's real enough for me! Why are other people saying it's a reproduction? I'm not very clear on how to tell the difference, are you? Sorry for all of the questions, but as you probably realize I want to be certain before committing to purchase.
Thanks!

I'm not clear on how to tell the difference either. But I did buy this back in 1992 and played it a few times and packed it away. That's ok about the questions, I would want to know everything before buying. So I hope this helps!
Thanks

No, I didn't go to the competition, I think the original ones were held in Japan. This was a similar festival held in California back in 1995, so I did go to that one but never enter the competition. So I bought this for $70 and played it a few times.

Thanks

i want to ask him if he knows what "fraudulent misrepresentation" is, but i don't want to spoil it for anyone else that's messing with him.

if you guys can report him though, that would help. including a link to the repro site in your report would hopefully make it obvious for whichever ebay worker sees it.

Send a link to the nes repros cart guy and ask him to step in. Or just pretend that you're the maker himself when submitting your report to eBay.

I *hear* that the guy that runs the ReccaNes.net keeps a list of everybody who has purchased from him *cough* cough*. I don't like seeing people taken advantage of.

Wha? Now the item is marked as sold? Wonder if he had a friend buy-it-now to clear the reports against it before ebay closed it (though he would still have to pay the closing fees, lol). Now relisted for $200: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261117386219

No, it wasn't sold, the auction ended with nobody making a bid.
I reported it, too, btw. Goes to show how much ebay cares (=not at all, as long as they get to collect their fees).

Look @ the details, though. Opening price was $249.99. BIN price was 299.99. Item "sold" for 299.99 meaning someone clicked BIN, which is different than somebody placing an actual bid.

Or... Maybe they have 172,730,511 current listings (source) and they haven't gotten around to investigating the complaints voiced by a half dozen nerds from the Shmups forum on one item.

I dunno, I had an item listed once, it was an extremely limited edition AMD processor that I had won in a contest, and someone reported it to eBay and they removed it without even asking.

I disputed it and eventually got it relisted, but what a pain in the ass.

I was having a look at the auction just as it was timing out (coincidence), and I didn't see anyone buying it or making a bid. And it doesn't say "sold for amount x" now, it's just showing the former BIN price.

It's Saint's Row the Third, so that should be a triplefacepalm. We already have the image on the page three times, though, so we're good.

Just scanning the page this relevant flavor text captures my thoughts perfectly: "like a lapdance from a porn star" workin' it like a bilge pump for money

Also just phoning this one in, I can't keep enough lines open to deal with all the investors shouting in orders for this HOT deal. Buy it now while it's still fresh and limited!

I'm actually playing through it right now on PC, and it's hella fun.

It's been a while since I played a fun mission-based open world romp, and it's scratching that itch perfectly.
