Necalli.
Can we vote him off the island....

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Rivals of Aether just came out on Early Access, it's an indie Melee-like game for PC, really good so far. It's Smash-styled but still pretty different (no shields, no grabs, no ledge grabs and less tech intensive).

If only it didn't have analog movement and so damn many concepts stolen straight from smash just because smash ":D". I like the simplified gameplay much more, and I think they could've simplified it even more by getting rid of move/run and analog movement at the same time, allowing you to play it with controllers other than a gamepad. :|
Super Smash Land > Rivals of Aether tbh

It would've been really interesting if it was just plain arena-style fighting with healthbars instead of smash knockouts and percents. Do games like that even exist?

Really happy they brought back Mika, really unimpressed with the new characters - Necalli is awful and Rashid is not interesting at all. SFIII cast is best cast.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Honestly, I think the best thing about the platform fighter concept is the ring-out to kill system, and I'm continually surprised that there really aren't any major competitors to Smash in that regard.
as for what you're saying, play Smash on stamina mode, see how much fun it is [it's kind of naff -- although part of this is definitely because Smash's mechanics aren't designed around that]

Not a fan of how Necalli looks. Rashid looks like he'd be fun to play. I'm pretty glad they brought back Mika.

what we really need is Q to return

How about having a separate HP-bar, and make the % that affects hit & combo physics increase and decrease similiar to stun-bar in SF3? (taking hits increases it for a moment etc.)

Yeah, I've never seen a Gamespot Versus video that wasn't entertaining. So many good players.

Do you make it to many USA ST events? I've been somewhat involved in the scene for the last few years. Not as a player, but a supporter/fan.

Indeed, I always look forward to watching the weekly Gamespot VS tournaments. Yeah, those guys know how to play, that's for sure :P Oh nice, that's awesome! :) I haven't made it to any US event yet, would be a lot of fun to do so!

Speaking of ST, I was watching the Kawachieiwa Enpara East vs. West Tournament from a couple of weeks ago and saw this... What in all that's holy is this...   I had no idea that you could do that while Blanka is in his super...

That actually sounds like an interesting idea. You'd need a somewhat slow decrease rate for the hit %, but it seems like this is an idea that could go somewhere. Fund it!

I'm liking it..
So it seems that the first (??) leak was correct.
The remaining 2 characters being:
Dhalsim
Zen

But the list also had Alex and Urien in it... Possibly day 1 DLC, something to grind fightmoney for?

You can do that to a lot of forward moving specials in ST. Pretty satisfying to Oicho Boxer rush punches and the like.

As far as Evo ST this past year - streaming is incredibly difficult. There's no available wired internet, so you basically need someone with an unlimited 4G plan and even then the service inside is usually not that great. We were lucky MadCatz stepped in and allowed us to stream on their stage. Wasn't a big turnout this year because last year was kind of the final big US event. Defend the North in NYC will have Mattsun and Shougatsu, two really awesome Japanese players.

Funny story about Gamespot Versus - the one time I was actually able to go to one they had a Hyper SF2 team battle instead of ST.

I really really hope Dan gets included. I had a blast maining him in SFIV.

But if he doesn't get included in this first round, I'm hoping the rumors of Dhalsim being in are true. Dhalsim was the first chara I played in SF2 in Las Vegas heh.

Ah I see, yeah I was wondering why the team battle didn't get streamed at Evo, had no idea that there was such an issue with internet connection there... Yeah, I saw that they will be at Defend the North! Very cool! :)

Bummer :) I've seen a few times on Gamespot Versus that they've been playing Hyper instead of ST. Doesn't seem to happen very often though.

Yeah the Kurahashi vs. Sasori match is definitely one for the books!!!

Generally only once or twice a year. I just happened to get incredibly unlucky.

I have a feeling sim will be in. I've heard rumors online that zen is also from india but i am not too sure on the source.

Dan will eventually be in the game, whether in the next reveal or maybe as dlc. SF is not SF without Dan, what started as a joke on snk has turned into the humorous and lovable main stay.

I am really enjoying this SFV Beta. I am maining Rashid and he is really good. His normals and pokes are very nice. I haven't been able to discover any high damage BnBs though. I have a really good feeling for SFV. Mechanic wise I feel that they are refining a lot. I see a lot of complaints on event hubs, but this game seems to concentrate on basic and foundation of good fighting games, I really don't see it going the way of sfxt.

Honestly have not played the beta... which street fighter does it feel like most?

I've never gotten use to SFIV floaty movements... really don't know how else to describe it but when playing Street Fighter 2, Alpha or even Street Ffighter III those games felt much more responsive when jumping and moving.

Full disclosure... I suck at All Street Fighters though lol.

I would compare it more to III myself, it's a much much more offensive oriented game that the IV series was, with a lot of fairly high damage, but still simple and quick combos.

Also pay no mind to Eventhubs lol, that place is and always has been a shithole

Does it still feel floaty like SFIV?

It doesn't feel floaty to me. And I agree with drunkninja24 it does sort of have the 3s feel.

Things to note. Since they have removed focus attack there's no way to avoid the footsie game. Also getting in is harder. 3 frame jab hit confirms into massive damage has gone, this game wants you to commit.

Like sf3 meaties are back and they are important. Back dashes are not Op anymore and don't confer invincibility like in iv. Though with quick get up you have to be fast to utilise meaties or get them off an untechable knockdown.

Also the removal of one framers is welcome imo. Back in iv people artificially removed 1framers with plinking.

This. It's where I get all my fighter news, but those comment sections ugh.
