Well, by 'interface' I meant just aesthetics. You cannot dump all the blame on lack of usability onto aesthetics; they have nothing to do with each other.
Attract was never useful so I wouldn't miss it. And AK doesn't let you save initials?

Anyway, what I'd love to see is an Arcade Original mode. I can see nearest neighbor bullets better than I do HD bullets.

If they didn't hate money they wouldn't do this altogether. They could've just used this.
I want an apology from Japan for fucking everything up that I held dear.
If you've ever wondered why I kept calling you out every time a discussion takes place, it's because of the gross amount of generalization you spout.
The other day I stumbled across a couple of very well-done trailers of Atlus's upcoming games; hence I find it immature and offensive that you lump this shit together with the better works out there. CAVE does not represent the entirety of Japan and please stop talking like a 12 y/o from GameFAQs.

Oh yeah, this is even decent compared to this opening depite all the MASTAAAAAH thing. At least that only gave me embarrasment.

Absolutely extraordinary that a company in such dire straits would piss money away on trash like that. Embarasing.

I feel the same way, I can tolerate moeblob even like little bits of it but it's the bad cliches that make me Bleugh.

Seems they're using the same interface for the port as they did with Mushihimesama HD.
you will never have another game with Akai Katana interface
Actually you already did with Dodonpachi Maximum. Not the same interface exactly of course, but the same team.
I don't have Mushi HD but does it use a similar system to Futari & Deathsmiles? IE over menu with each mode authentic to the original arcade ROM?

Although I quite liked AKS menu. Having only 3 modes + Novice helped. I feel that game could have done with a proper intro movie.

But it's the same planet from which comes things like this:

despite all the moeblob and pantyshots this have good animation and even good music. I was expecting something along these lines.

This.

They really should have outsourced it to some half-decent doujin group that specializes in PVs. I've seen 2nd-tier porn VNs with better anime intros than that. Maybe they should have done the whole thing themselves in Miku Miku Dance, it would have matched up better with the half-decent CG scenes in that intro at least. Though the worst part was the camera footage of the game, that looked rally tacky. Watched the intro with the sound off, so no comment on the sound.

In retrospect, the same can be applied towards Instant Brain and Akai Katana.

They released a new IP (without pandering to the moe/loli crowd) in a dying market when they could've made a sequel to an established brand for easy money. Cave's lack of business sense can lead to great games, though.

Sorry dad.

I didn't realise you were 'calling me out', just thought you were in disagreement, which is normal for me.

I don't think your Atlus trailers are likely to change my mind regarding what I believe to be a general freefall in quality of Japanese media output over the last 20 years. It's an opinion I've come by after careful observation of several key industries that once enthralled me. I haven't ignored the good stuff and I've taken stock of all recommendations, most of which I disagree are good examples of quality. Anyone who says 'rose tinted spectacles' can suck my dick, too, when it's got to the point where they can't even draw decent characters anymore to support their games. It used to be part and parcel of game design that original art used to roar off the product, even from small timers like Galaxy Fight, Asuka 120% and Harmful Park.

Perfect examples would be the night and day contrast of something like Gunbuster versus Diebuster, and this trailer, of course.

Feel free to inundate me with examples of significance, but I'm still yet to see the finest of Japan's work from the 60's through to the 00's being bettered (and that definitely includes live action cinema.)

Looks like I'm the only person that likes the intro. I mean at least we get a decent intro from CAVE which is cool. I dont' like the teddy bears too but its quite solid intro, it makes we want playing the game.

But hey this board went incredible negative these days... why all the hate?

Understandable as the "child holding teddy bear" image has been creepy ever since Philip K. Dick's "Second Variety" (1953) Type 3 Claw, "David". :)

Movie adaptation: Screamers (1995)

How can I be happy if, instead of some simple and generic animation they could have done something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keZRpe30t8g

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5wiF48zoTg

hell, I'd even put the Umineko openings from the VN above the SaiDaiOuJou opening in terms of originality and impact.

It's just another video game intro video that should be skipped, as with all video game intro videos.

I haven't been following this very closely but awful examples like this one make me wonder whether theres anything wrong with Japanese media at all and it's not all just " boo they changed it and I don't like it when things are different".

Bollocks. I just replied to the anime thread. Diebuster is fucking rubbish, that's not even an argument.

Just so we are clear, that was because of the derailing, and doesn't mean that this "I'll wait until it's released and then pirate it" attitude is welcome here, right? And sorry, but it really pissed me off, especially given the financial situation of Cave.
