I've got one of these coming too, one of my clanmates is posting this to me but I was concerned about the number of buttons available; It doesn't seem to have very many. I really don't want to have to take my hands off combat controls while in a dogfight.

I've collected more of these neat-tacular Saturn mini-posters. The Steam Hearts one is up for sale, along with Twinkle Star Sprites, Purikura Daisakusen, and Sengoku Blade. I'll post something about that in the trading forum soon. You can see the gallery of scans for all these on my website at http://stevethefish.net/life/life091.htm

Landed in the mailbox yesterday, yay.

Less yay is that while I technically have a Wii U now as it's been purchased, it didn't arrive before the weekend as I had hoped it would.

The games that aren't Mario Kart are Wind Waker HD, Zombi U and Nintendoland, none of those three being games I actually care about.

I didn't want to buy Twilight Princess, but the least convoluted Wii softmod guide I found online recommended it, so here it is. Not that I won't deign to give the game a chance either (alas, no 60 Hz mode in PAL version, but here's hoping it's optimised).
The Outlaw Josey Wales DVD was supposed to make for a Christmas present, but didn't arrive in time. Someone's birthday is upon, though.

Of all computer games mags cover CD/DVDs I just got, I choose FreeSpace 2 and Mobile Forces discs to show you:

(I read FreeSpace - The Great War got back-ported to the FS2 engine, so it seems like a good place to start.)

Still have a little work left for the manual etc. I had a rom hacked version burned to the cart that addresses the enemy AI issues. The port is quite good now. Better than the arcade in ways also.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

There are much simpler ways to softmod a Wii that don't involve using any game. Also, every PAL Wii game runs in 60hz, you just need to set your Wii console to PAL60 mode.

I didn't /just buy/ anything but I did just leave one of my best friends with my Genesis MkII & a copy of Forgotten Worlds & Ranger-X. We played both for awhile & he was floored, mostly by the distinct play style & music of both games. He's got a few buffer carts - Sonic 2, Vectorman, Judge Dredd, & MKII. I'll pick it back up in a few weeks when I can focus my monies on fun stuff again. For now I'm paying for a lot of remodeling & won't be buying any new Genny carts soon.

When he first showed up at my place tonight I was playing House Of The Dead 4 on PS3. I set him out on Time Crisis: Razing Storm & he loved it. He wasn't very good but I could tell he had fun. The guy has nothing out where he lives so playing an arcade light gun game at home with a proper setup was probably cathartic. I'm just glad I finally got to share some of the cool stuff I've got.

I'm afraid it's not true. The ones that do say so on the back of the box and Twilight Princess doesn't. Moreover, I seem to recall NSMB Wii flat-out saying it was 50 Hz-only.

While we're at it, the original Xbox PAL wouldn't run every PAL game in 60 Hz either. Oh, and some Wii games (Monster Hunter Tri, Kororinpa) are interlaced-only even though you set Wii to progressive scan outside of a game.

Nowhere on Twilight Princess' cover does it say the game is 50hz only, either. NSMB Wii does have 60hz mode, I have that game myself.

You indeed were right that not every PAL Wii game can run at 60hz, but the only list I found doesn't mention Twilight Princess. I did, however, find a mention of Twilight Princess in same forum in the 60hz game list.

Coming back home I had some time to kill in Akiba before heading home, and I scored this cool Vic Viper model kit from a dingy junk store near Amusement Tower. The guy was trying to get rid of stuff and gave it to me for just over 1000 yen.
