Hah nice :) I was a bit cheeky at first and used the 'make an offer' option and offered them £6.50 each... They declined, and rightly so! Then we settled on £8 each.

Yeah, Nemesis 2 on the Gameboy is pretty epic for a Gameboy game isn't it. Castlevania 2 is the pick of the bunch for me though, that music!

Ughh, yeah. As much as I love my NEC XM29 Plus and my Viewsonic monitors, configuring the damn things without a remote frequently is a pain in the ass. I have to get it juuuuuuust right, play for a bit, then go back again because I'm not satisfied. Labor of love, indeed.

PS Vita PCH-1001 - "used" on eBay, $160 incl. shipping, came with all the original packaging and a 32GB memory card. I put "used" in quotes because it looks brand new. Having lots of fun with it so far, snagged Gravity Rush off the PlayStation Store which is an amazing game and really shows off the system well.

Also picked up FFX/X-2 HD Remaster for $20, because why the hell not.

Image

Looking forward to picking up some more exclusives, like Tales of Hearts R and the Danganronpa games.

Now to read the Vita thread ...

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Cool - is that fanmade? Just finished replaying Metroid II, was thinking it's a shame the original is FDS only in Japan (as far as I know, anyway).

Picked up a second CRT with component inputs at a garage sell for $15. $15! People just don't know what they've got some times.

People know exactly what they have: obsolete technology. Honestly surprised you couldn't find one for free. Only thing difficult to find for free is something like a PVM or a nice Trinitron. I'm a lover of CRTs myself and have way too many, but outside of hobbyists there's hardly a reason to hold on to your average CRT...

This one might not be known for high quality, it's a Phillips. I have an RCA TruFlat that cost me $250 but was so worth it - somehow this one has richer color than it & quite a sharp picture. It's cutting a portion of images off though & I haven't yet found if it's a setting in my PS2 I've messed up or something in the tube itself that's ruining that. In Tekken 5 I can't see some info that's important to the gameplay because of it. Looks nice though.

Actraiser 2 and Sirento BOMMA Image Quality.

SMS Ninja Gaiden's cover looks surprisingly cool - I always half-expect Black Belt-style disasters from that system.

My latest SFC pickup, Kishin Douji Zenki: Battle Raiden. CAProduction's other sidescrolling action game after Hagane. Not quite as brilliant as that ninja action landmark, but most definitely worthwhile. Plays more like a fighter/platformer hybrid a la Capcom's Mutant Apocalypse.

It's probably because the system died in North America while those were still newish that they're paraded around the internet so much, so it's what most people associate with the console. The vast majority of SMS games didn't have the hilarious minimalistic covers.

Once you get past about 1988 they start being a bit more like western home computer game covers, with arcade ports using the arcade artwork. Which granted, is mostly not worth shouting about! You have a few decent ones like Ninja Gaiden and Power Strike II, but most of them are forgettable at best. Those very early ones are just so memorably bad!

That Razion kit looks amazing!

Received a Sanwa VC-J JAMMA RGB to NTSC converter/splitter. I'm curious how well this performs, though I'll have to wait until I get a new video capturing device since my Colossus doesn't do well on Win 8

Image

Also picked up a couple of Win shmups: two lastest TOHO Project titels; Double Dealing Character and Impossible Spellcard. Used to play Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Nights back in the days and was curious to see where ZUN has gone from there. Plus Astebreed (a$$kickin soundtrack btw).

I LOVE CAVE...CAVE EVIL

Post by Frenetic »

Image

I haven't bought a board game in a while and CAVE EVIL just spoke to me. Well, more like screamed at me. Art by Mat Brinkman from Fort Thunder fame. Oh to have played D&D with him and Brian Chippendale!

Check out the insane trailer here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5cMKlpOTD8

This board game is so epic there's a cassette tape soundtrack or you can download the MP3s here:
http://rottenshape.bandcamp.com/album/c ... -radio-mix

"The living dug out cities for their dead: necropolises deep within the earth. They filled the caverns with bodies and locked them away from the upper air. Eventually the dead forgot the living--if any remain.

But in death, a new life began. The breath of evil from the darkness of complete shadow stirred corrupted flesh. In their middens and pits, the dead awakened, swarming through slime-fluxing tunnels, seeking chthonic power, warring with demons and denizens of the deep. Animated by the black flame, necro-ecologies rose and collapsed in the crypt-universe. Now, cloistered undead lich-wizards have discovered the primordial opening to the shadow source, the doleful horror-hole where the Eternal Evil Emperor watches and waits....

The necromancers have dug their Lairs deep into the ground. They must gather precious resources and body parts to assemble an army of minions, while defending their own lairs from the excavations and intrusions of others. In the end, the only route is into the demon path...

Then depletion of your essence leads to spending another eternity in foul sepulchral darkness awaiting the next Awakening of Death."

Each player takes the role of an ancient Necromancer. Located deep within an earth, their Necropolises have now merged, each seeking the Darkest Pit, the location of all evil. The dark wizards must build minions with precious resources from their Lairs to send forth and destroy, or dig further tunnels to locate other creatures, resources or to ambush another sorcerer.

The game is won when only one remaining Necromancer stands. A Necromancer can either be destroyed by combat, or an enemy minion may venture into their Lair and crush the wizard's shadow power, a Chthonic Crystal. BUT an even greater darkness may befall the players. As they build and destroy creatures the Dark Pit absorbs the shadowflame and may awaken the ultimate Cave Evil."

Razion LE MVS kit (not pictured: all the posters, postcards, CD and other assorted papers that came with it), Outrun 2 SP (soundtrack included), Sega Rally Revo, and a bunch of Famicom games I've acquired lately, along with Kick Master.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

apparently it does, you do have to completely remove your gdrom drive for this thing though. obviously that's great if you have a dreamcast which doesn't read discs lying around. not sure I'd want to do it with a working console though.
