Not to hijack this thread, but this is the only place I know the NJ people are at. I went to the new arcade and make a post on AO with my thoughts here: http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18308

Back on topic:
I can't find Gravity level 3. dieKatze88's chart says Expert 3-4 but I can't seem to find it.

I believe that Gravity Bullet 3 is in the section where you're descending down the waterfall, Again, easy to miss, Bombspam.

Bleh, need to sign up before I can see that. Worth going? It's more likely I'll be spending the whole day at the Break since we got here way later than we intended last night.

They changed Poini Coon to Poini Kune. As far as I know that's the only change.

Probably guessing the change because her last name may be vulgar to some people, even though its just a direct translation edit to English.

Yeah... you can't say that in American English, even if it might be a direct translation. The last thing Konami needs is to be seen as a racist organization.

OK so someone took my leaderboard spot, I want to take it back but I woke up this morning with incredible pain in my left arm.

Before anyone panics: Just blunt force trauma from my car accident, not a heart attack.

That said, the person on top, it's yours for 3 weeks, because that's how long this is going to take to heal if my doctor is to be believed.

Um..what's the deal with the final level(8)?

I was playing as Aoba and she became superpowered...except when she did that she lost all of her powerups and I ended up burning through like four continues just to beat the game(and I was rolling with zero lives lost).

This garbage doesn't happen in Score Attack or with any of the other characters does it?

Nope.

That's just Hyper Anoa. She does that. Anoa (T-301) doesn't change. Not sure, but I don't think School Uniform does either. But I haven't fired up my J360 in a few days.

Yeah, everyone else, and even Anoa's alt's doesn't seem to be affected, kinda good when you have everything at one point, and then the next thing, it just sucks when you lose everything and have a big disadvantage.

Did you guys try playing arcade mode for score?
I'll eventually buy Otomedius Excellent, but one thing I saw as a total rip off was the idea of buying a level as DLC. That totally blows since I never waste money on DLC. Is Excellent the same way with the DLC?

No DLC stages, but there are 2 DLC characters and a whole lot of extra music.

Well..it's not like a couple of new characters or some different music will make the core game more exciting.
It's probably on me because I'm playing this game alongside DDP:R but Otomedius Ex is really boring.

I would say that most Konami shooters have a habit of gently boring the player. That doesn't mean they're bad.

I would say you're talking out of your arse.

Don't lump Otomedius in with Konami's classic shooters of old, it's mediocre at best. Being slow and redundantly easy for the first hour of play makes a game boring, simple as that.

If you enjoy the game then by all means enjoy it, just don't pretend Konami's shooters were always like this. They used to be good.

Nobody's been too hard on the game, just a few people saying it's boring/underwhelming, it could have been much worse.

You're always gonna get fanboys defending it though, as with anything else.

Well, I'm also liking it as well, nothing bores me on it, of course getting 1000G in this would, but prime example is to just keep playing it, simple as that.

With DDP:R coming out the same week, I find myself playing DDP:R more but that's not really a statement to anything other than my personal preferences. When I play OXE, I find myself having a lot of fun and it's a good experience and I really am happy that I purchased OXE.
I don't understand all the hate it's getting, other than (possibly) that the early loops are too easy. I do wish there was a way to play later loops in the story mode, but if that's my only gripe then they must have done a whole lot right.

If the game had no more than 3 loops and started out harder, it would easily be on par with most of the classic Gradii.

Quick question, since I've just unlocked her: am I missing something when it comes to Hyper Anoa, or is she really as craptacular as she seems offhand? Extra items required to get most of her essential power-ups, only two options max, and most of the extra slots she has are not only near-useless but can't be activated simultaneously...is there some bonus I'm not seeing?

Yeah, there is, she does double damage. So if you're trying to get shit done with her, you can actually legitimately use the Wave laser, but she's otherwise completely useless.

In Japanese version news:

2 new DLC today, a costume for Madoka, and a costume for Diol Twee.

Madoka's DLC weapon is "Cannon" Haven't used it yet, no idea, but it fills her double slot (A first for DLC weapons, most have been lasers so far)

Diol Twee gets Shadow Laser. Go figure we have to pay for that one. God damnit Konami.
