Mostly because no one is going to update their player and then they're going to play my song and it's going to sound wrong for no reason.

one notable one is how xmplay has what seems to be a long standing bug regarding pitch downs that go all the way down, where instead of clamping the note to the bottom one, it just cuts the sample off -- just checked my song in FT2 to see if MilkyTracker was doing it wrong, but no, it sounds exactly the same there
there actually seem to be a few pitch effect related bugs in xmplay, I need to make a proper test module and file a report

I know I said I wouldn't talk about school until getting my SAT score, but I think this deserves special mention:

Taking a major math test, and trying my hardest to concentrate to avoid trivial mistakes, when dozens of jackasses start carolling through the hallway. Even after they were gone, the carols were still stuck in my head, so I could barely pay any fucking attention to finding the inverses of functions or finding the composite (not RGB ) of some functions and other shit. Now I have to stay after school to finish.
Who the fuck thought that anyone would enjoy caroling during classes, anyway?

short answer: easy tools make it easy for crap coders to write crap code
alternatively: "we only tested it on our machine and it ran fine enough lol"
longer answer: sometimes it's not the CPU -- they're doing ridiculously inefficient draw calls, so the GPU is bottlenecking even though it should be able to draw 10-100x more than it currently is without slowing down

The people who write games that run miserably on modern hardware despite simple graphics and the lot will have this issue whether they used C++ or not -- if they used C++ and their own engine, it'd possibly be full of memory leaks and general inefficiency and probably be slapped together with bits and pieces copy/pasted off of StackOverflow.
Hell, they'd have the same issues with Unreal [which uses C++].

Do you know any programming languages?
I secretly don't like Game Maker out of a personal vendetta. (It gave me a poor foundation)
But if people want to make games in it and can get them running smoothly that's their choice.

As a programmer however, I'll chime in that I hate modern OpenGL. (Since this is about things hated)
It's building log cabins with sawdust, tweezers, and glue.
Now run me out of town for liking reasonable defaults back in the immediate mode days.
Anything can claim flexibility when you're building every f***ing thing from scratch on the CPU modern OpenGL included.

I also do not like C++ as a programming language even though my current project has a lot of C++ in it.
It's become a mess of templates in a feeble attempt to remain efficient while trying to grasp at being expressive.
Essentially it is islands of different ideas bridged by those spooky rope vine bridges you see in the movies.
I can't think of a worse time to learn the language than today. It has so much syntactic garbage these days.

I've learned BASIC(various), Blitzmax, C++, Python, Common Lisp, Scheme, and Monkey X.
I have no interest in learning Java, JavaScript, PHP, C#/.Net making me totally unemployable 99.9% of the time.
And Clojure can go right to hell for being a false prophet of the Lisp family.

Sorry gents, I'll prepare a shorter sermon next time.

I start watching Narcos on Netflix. Really enjoy the first three episodes. Come back a day later and select "episode 4" then binge-watch the remainder.

Strange thing though, even though all the main characters are still there and I can still follow the plot, a zillion characters have disappered, a bunch of new rivals to Escobar are on the scene, and his empire seems to fall apart as quickly as it started.

Once I'm finished I scroll through the episodes and realize that I accidentally went from Season 1 episode 3 to Season 2 episode 4 so there's a 10-hour gap in the story for me. Argh!

Oh well, it's not like I didn't know Pablo Escobar dies in the end already.

I tried to get my game greenlit. It's an absolute jungle out there today.
You have to start hitting people over the head with the game months before release or you get nowhere.
There is a shit ton of luck involved and advertising is everything.
Some real garbage gets through and I can't think of a less stable career choice right now then trying to release hit after hit on Steam.
You should see the nauseating extremes people go to on twitter.

Dude. I moved away, and they kept sending requests to my ex. I never even lived in that apartment with her, but somehow they found her address and tried to get me to do jury duty again. I lived in Manhattan, so maybe Brooklyn is more chill about it. Yeah. I went 3 times in 10 years. They can keep calling you in if you don't get choosen for duty, but then you still have to go in and sit around all day for them to call you or not. Lame. At least it was in China Town for lunch.
