I'm 99.9% certain that it's the POT to blame.I've bought some POTs before that were all exactly the same type ,but 1 of them would start to read a different ohm value even though it was turned to the exact same point as the rest (e,g 1/4 the way).

yes, I thougth about the pots, too. Sometimes when buying in larger batched there could be wrong pots inside. This is hard to recognise during assembly, but should have at least seen during test. Should I send you some pots or replace the complete unit? Both is no problem.

Nope,as i whipped out my soldering iron and removed the terminal block ,so i could have easy access to and adjust just the blue POT which was causing the problem. The R G and B levels where fairly equal when i began increasing the POT's resistance(increasing scanlines look),but at a certain level the blue POT's level would not be matching that of the R and G's ,hence the blue level would be lower than that of the R and G POTs and giving the greenish look.

With the terminal block removed,i could increase just the blue level and make it perfect.I've no need for the terminal block and i have no need to adjust the other POTs as i have everything the way i like it now and can remove the little plastic POT adjuster .I noticed that these POTs are each around the 550 ohms mark and my previous slg3000 used about 470 ohms (both rated at 500 ohms ,just different +/-tolerances).I also changed the 0805 size smd led for a blue one ,swapped the dil switch and soldered in a side activated one (which is 0.1"/2.54mm pitch so it's a perfect),bit easier to change modes now

Modding makes the world goes round. You have a pic of your customized SLG :) ? Nice catch about the side DIL switches...

Someone knows if the scanlines generated by the SLG-3000 are better than the scanlines of the Xrgb3?

They look exactly the same. But with the added option to switch between scanlines on odd/even lines on the SLG :)

sure it does.

The advantage of using a SLG3000 with the XRGB is that it enables classic "240p scanlines" for 480i content. The XRGB can only provide scanlines for 240p sources.

I've been wondering how to go about adding an on/off switch to the original model SLG-3000 (with the screw terminals) that would still be compatible / fit inside one of the separately sold cases. Any advice or specific components/procedures available?

The screw terminals have a distance of 5mm to each other. Normal SPDT should fit like these ones

Clipp of one of the side pole with a plier and mount it to the side of the SLG.

just a quick fix idea ...

Really, can't find those on the site as a separate buy option??

Will these fit a Gen1 SLG3000 then??

Hey,

absolute forget to add the cases to my new arcadeforge shop page. Sorry...

http://wp1114205.wp150.webpack.hosteuro ... ucts_id=31

Here it is. I`ve reduced the price to 15 and added a option for the scanline knob. Case is compatible for the first gen SLG3000 PCBs of course.

Hey bencao, went with an SPST instead (since it doesn't have that second output pin) and it worked perfectly, except the case for the switch was just a little too thick to fit above the PCB; it's somewhat angled. The pins on my switch are somewhat inflexible. That being said, it still makes a full connection, and it's quite sturdy just with the screws from the screw terminal holding it in place.

If the V2 SLG3000 is switched to off, does it act as a pass through?

sounds like a feasible solution :) SPST is even better, you don't need the DT, my fault.

Hello

the SLG3000 looking on a very good pcs of hardware :) a want to bay one.
Before a do this - I have some questions about the unit.

Can you spend some time and help me :)?

I planing use SLG3000 whit setup:

Console (unfortunately composit output) -> SCALER*video PAL to VGA -> SLG3000 -> FULLHD monitor (nativ is 1920x1200 pix)

My doubt is about my scaler, i have this unit:
http://www.grand.com.tw/con_video_conso ... php?menu=0
this name is Grand Video Console Plus II
this unit output resolutions:
640x480@60/75Hz), 800x600@60/75Hz, 1024x768@60/75Hz, 1280x1024@60/75Hz,
1440x900@60/75Hz, 1680x1050@60/75Hz and 1920x1080@60

I suppose whit the 640x480@60/75Hz), 800x600@60/75Hz, 1024x768@60/75Hz, 1280x1024@60/75Hz res is no problem to get good scanline effect.
What about the higher resolution ? 1440x900@60/75Hz, 1680x1050@60/75Hz and 1920x1080@60 ?

Can someone shot some screen-shot of higher res comparison ?
i really very grateful about this res: 1440x900@60/75Hz, 1680x1050@60/75Hz and 1920x1080@60

slg3000 + this Scaler will work properly?

thanks and sorry about my English... :)

best regards XRAY

ahhh, another question - did this work whit 5 meter log VGA cable :)?
Best regards XRAY

A lot of low-res (240p) games look off without them. As to why it looks good, scanlines add faux-detail.
