I want to say I think so since GoD access is determined by the region you buy the console from.
I own a US 360 and even on my JP account I'm not allowed to buy Japanese region-locked GoD games.

I don't think very often. Maybe I should go back to sleep.

I've tried to buy Japanese GoD titles from a Japanese console with Japanese points and it doesn't work. Games on Demand titles are simply IP locked. Trust me, I know.

Still waiting to confirm if this'll work on a J360 console residing in the US.

Damn I put all my points on my Canadian account. It's kind of annoying that North America apparently means the United States.

Downloading now via my American account on my JP xbox. I'll get back to you if I can play it or not.
EDIT: Works!

Woah, what. Could someone test the same for PAL 360?

edit: yeah elixir, I know. Usually the games are region locked too.

Zaarock: They are IP locked. It doesn't matter what console you have, if you live in the US, you can download the game. The same also applies to Japanese GoD titles: if you live in Japan with a US or PAL console, you can also download JP games.

To put it into perspective a bit, I live in NZ, I have a Japanese console, I can't download Japanese 360 GoD titles, but I can download local GoD.

I would think it's still possible to region lock the executable even if you get around the IP block imposed by the Marketplace. In any case, I think it's best to get firsthand confirmation it'll work on a PAL 360. Can PAL users download it using a US gamertag over a VPN?

By the way, in case no one took notice of the ESRB rating:

Game Rating: T (Teen)

Fantasy Violence
Partial Nudity
Mild Blood
Mild Suggestive Themes

... I guess Follett bath scene strikes again?

So I played through the game and I got a 1CC in my first try using Lei. Now, I'm trying to come to grips with the scoring system. From what I can gather (copypasted from evacindustry.net)
* Point blank as many enemies as possible and kill as many enemies with the lock-shot until your fever meter gets to 1000.
* Continue killing and point blanking enemies until your multiplier gauge is around the 8000+ mark.
* Use your lock shot to engage fever, and concentrate on getting your multiplier maxed out to 10000 as soon as possible.
* Kill everything very quickly at this point, and get a large stream of blue suicide bullets hanging around you.
* Stop firing for a split second and wait for some of the bullets’ trailing lines to go red
* Activate lock shot, and then repeat the killing.

Is the laser even useful? You use shot to gather rings quickly, but laser doesn't really do much. Is it only for damage?

I have a PAL 360 and I live in Europe (Spain). I have signed in an US account, and if I try to buy the game, I get a "this game is not compatible with your console region" and I can't buy it. However, other games in the US marketplace such as Super Street Fighter 4 don't give me this error. So I think this means the game is no compatible with PAL 360.

Another story is the IP-blocking, but that can be avoided using a proxy via VPN. To the Canadian people: you should be able to buy it with an US account, and if the IP-block kicks in, just use a VPN to make it think you are in the US. You can google tutorials for it.

Perhaps because Super Street Fighter 4 is not a downloadable game you can buy over Xbox live?

Wait, do you only have to wait for the trails to go red? I thought you had to wait for a red aura around the bullets. I was never sure about that business.

I tried to buy Fallout 3 for my jp 360 and it wouldn't let me. It said this game is not available for your region. I live in America, so I'm guessing games can be region locked or ip locked.

Nice to know this game is only Ip locked, but I'll pass on dling this for now since Akai Katana Shin comes out in 9 days.

Well, you can buy it on games on demand for 29.99$:

My point is that this game is region-free, so I could buy it in the US marketplace and use it in my European console (provided I could get around the IP-block, if it is present). However, Deathsmiles IIX gives a region warning when you try to buy it from an European console.

I have the retail release plus the first-print DLC code, but I've never redeemed it. If I end up getting the GoD version, I'll let you know if the JP DLC works with it.

EDIT: Yep, I redeemed the code after I bought the GoD version, and the arrange music option appeared in game settings. You'd have to have a code from the first printing of the Japanese release to activate it.

I can't believe it hasn't shown up on Canadian Games on Demand! I'm pissed! We're generally the same region as the USA.

This puts us in a weird limbo where they haven't even noticed we exist. At least on the subject of European release they have made a comment or two.

You could always find someone who does have it and have them send it to you by using xtaf. See if the demo works. Or option two could be to give your account (via xtaf) to someone you trust and have them buy it on their console and give you your profile back.

I have 1000/1000 gamer score on this. 1 of only 2 games.

I must have 1CC'd this thing like 50 times.

It's easy, but fun.

Last stage on level 3 play through is a huge pain in the ass.

the fair ex stage is beyond awesome. it's score city. just like ice palace.

guess I better fire it back up soon consider how the score thread is going to actually get some activity now lol.

Yeah, I love the carnival. The music is really cool, and it has this weird, grimy Silent Hill look to it.

I love some of the boss patterns too, but they also do some really douchey jumping around >:(
