Even if they have the most amazing exclusives known to man, it's still going to be a console that requires near 24/7 internet, Kinect to be hooked up and always on, mandatory installs (That space will fill up fast), and no used game sales allowed.t0yrobo wrote:Totally true. I think he should state his name so Microsoft can prevent him of ever changing his mind by any chance and buy the console. (We wouldn't want that, would we? That would be hipocrisy.)
Oh and it's totally NOT history repeating itself.
Xbox 360 - horrible name (the old "turn 360 degrees and walk away" joke)
Paid Xbox Live - nobody would ever go for it
Hardware - supposedly worse than PS3
Thank god nobody went for that and Xbox 360 was a big flop. Oh, wait

Took some time though, but then again the 360 had quite a head start.

Hahah, don't be so serious. That guy is a professional online ranter, it's what he does. That doesn't mean anything he says in that video is wrong. A while ago someone linked to a similar video of his in the PS Vita thread, where he (rightfully) complained about the PSV mem card situation.matrigs wrote:Very painful to watch.Friendly wrote:For your enjoyment:

That doesn't make any sense; you'd need to turn 180 degrees. A 360 degree 'turn' would end with you facing the same direction you started.matrigs wrote:Xbox 360 - horrible name (the old "turn 360 degrees and walk away" joke)

No? The hardware specs seem to be a pretty hot topic (at least the ram is) and i heard a lot of whining that Xbox Live is supposed to be more expensive.Udderdude wrote:These have nothing to do with the current issues that Xbox One has ..matrigs wrote: Paid Xbox Live - nobody would ever go for it

Fact is that, similarly to this launch, the previous launch was mocked and laughed about but in the end the Xbox360 was a success.
Yes, i am aware that there are a few more severe issues like the "always-on" thing and "no-used-games" etc. but again, i wouldn't solely blame Microsoft for that. I'm pretty sure that in the end, Sony will also have some kind of hindrance regarding used games and physical copies in general. Fact is that there will be a steady decline of physical carriers and a general push for digital sales. If not this generation, then the next will be true "always-on" fashion. Of course, the first company to implement that will be regarded as the bad guys.

This is very disappointing. MS actually went as far as dissing backwards compatibility.
Re: Xbox 3 = Xbox One: "This is rocket science stuff"
It might be inevitable that they make those bone-headed mistakes, but in the end the consumer backlash will stop them ..matrigs wrote:Yes, i am aware that there are a few more severe issues like the "always-on" thing and "no-used-games" etc. but again, i wouldn't solely blame Microsoft for that. It's entirely possible to make digital sales fair and sane. See : Steam. You can download the game and then back it up to whatever format you want, then run Steam in offline mode and it will never bother you about being connected. Even if they pull the plug on their servers, you can still play the game you paid for. I think they've even added a system where you can trade your games to friends, free of charge.
I'm pretty sure if Microsoft did that instead, you'd see a lot less backlash.
Always online was dead out of the fucking gate. Diablo 3, Sim City, etc.
"License to use this music/software" was also thorougly shit on. You'd think the insane DRM schemes the music industry tried with their digital sales would give Videogame publishers pause. Instead, they seem determined to make the same idiotic mistakes!

God O. Van, you're such a little moralist. Why do I need to explain anything, you asked me why revenue is important in relation to two competing videogame companies. If you can't figure out why that's a ball-punchingly asinine question, it's best left hanging in the wind.O. Van Bruce wrote:Stop bringing your drama and hate for Friendly to others. I'm not bringing any drama and hate for Friendly, we've been through that mill. He is a self-confessed Sony fanboy by the admission of his own behaviour on the site, and would be the last to deny it.
Look, why don't you have a break from all this thinking business. Have a Kit Kat.

If we are talking about reveneu, why don't we say that microsoft's OS's has been the best throughout history? Because in the end, they have been the ones with the bigger reveneu.... Windows is better than Mac OS and better than Linux by that logic.Skykid wrote:God O. Van, you're such a little moralist. And once again, if my thoughts come to you as shallow, ignorant and stupid you just have to enlighten me with your superior thoughts.

Re: Xbox 3 = Xbox One: "This is rocket science stuff"
Both of the above are success stories. The DRM-ridden 2013 Sim City is the highest-selling SimCity game to date, AFAIK. For this reason, I believe it`s still too early to dismiss the Xbox One as dead on arrival like many are so hasty to do. I`m sure that more than enough people will be willing to line up for this shit brick once it releases, DRM or not. Never underestimate human idiocy.Udderdude wrote:Always online was dead out of the fucking gate. Diablo 3, Sim City, etc.

And never underestimate the power of a $500,000,000 marketing budget. It worked quite well for Kinect.Jonathan Ingram wrote:Never underestimate human idiocy.

The abstract describes a camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider. If there are too many warm bodies present, the device owner would be prompted to purchase a license for a greater number of viewers.

Re: Xbox 3 = Xbox One: "This is rocket science stuff"
I've got mixed feelings about the new Xbox from everything shown so far (leaning towards negative). There are still too many unanswered questions, ones that I hope are all clarified at E3. But if the answers match up with the direction MS appears to be taking right now, I don't see myself getting an XBO, at least not for a very long time.
