Just a correction, that code unlocks New York Giants Anoa. Detroit Lions Anoa is built in.

The patch is the same as the Japanese Balance Patch.

Cycling your power up Meter gives you 3000 points. Picking up power ups SHOULD give you 500 points each.

Weapon Cards are fixed drops from specific enemies. I made a chart:
http://shmupswiki.com/index.php5?title= ... _Locations

If you only ever play Story Mode or the first loop or two, it's easy to get the impression that this game is easier than Otomedius Gorgeous. For anyone who still thinks this, please, kindly take the game out to loop 10.

I believe I complained about background/foreground what's what in this thread much earlier too.

My sincerest apologies.

Hmm...I'll have to look again.

That ought to be helpful, thanks. :)

1CCed the first loop, made it to the top 10 on the leaderboards. Quickly ended by Ryoutsuki after I messed up and lost my backup shield. Her attacks are just way too fast and unpredictable. Are there any places to find burst capsules and 1-ups besides the bottom path in Stage 3?

I've heard that the game was rejected for approval because Microsoft thought the cleavage and jiggling was pushing an M rating--any source for this?

There's 3 Burst Capsules and 1 Extend on the bottom route of Stage 3.

There's an Extend on Stage 4 hidden in a enemy emitter.

There's a burst token on stage 5, after you see 2 of the Core things, shoot the top of the screen a lot.

There's an Extend on Stage 7, in the moving platforms, the rightmost platform just before the left platform exits the screen, the Grey enemy on the platform has it.

Ryukotsuki can be beaten by flying between corners. Start in the Upper Left, When she stands up, fly in and attack her. Upper Right, Lower Right, Lower Right, Upper Left, Upper Left, and she'll stand up again. Repeat as necessary. I think that's correct, I'd have to check but I'm at work. You can damage enemies offscreen in Otomedius Excellent, so you can abuse Madoka and Esmeralda's D-Burst to hurt Ryukotsuki when she's being a jerk and hiding off screen.

How do you D-Burst, anyway? I've seen it in replays but have no idea how to do it myself. It involves a charge bar.

Probably not, can't say for sure though, but if you go to the gallery, it seems Dark Force in adult form in an image on the gallery seems very "mature" rated.

Pfft, partial nudity, yeah right.

Older Gradius games are kinda sacred cows so they're immune to criticism, but if Gradius II had been released today instead of decades ago people would probably be writing essays on how terrible it is.
This is so true.
And I love Gradius II, too.

Admittedly, I will play Gorgeous once in a while. I don't hate the game, but it could definitely have more levels and/or more things going on the way Parodius does. The music could be better as well.

I think I've only managed to truly hate on one game and that is Strike Witches

Only issue with that is getting to loop 10 in Excellent is something of a test of patience just for challenge. Prepatch I made it out to like loop 5 or 6 and was falling asleep at the helm, actually had to suicide my lives to get some sleep before work the next day. At least in Gorgeous the second you nail Loop 2 the game lets you know it can be a parodius level game.

Awesome, can't wait to see you review it Ser.

If you choose Offline Multiplayer, you can choose your starting loop. You aren't eligible for leaderboards and whatnot, but you can at least start with the game being difficult.

Ah I never tried Offline Multiplayer, wasn't aware you could choose a starting loop. Guess I'll give it a shot starting from loop 10 then.

This. More than two loops in any game is overkill, and can turn anything into a boring test of endurance. Infinite loops weren't really a problem in classic Konami shmups because the games were so hard to begin with, and the difficulty ramped up so rapidly. But Excellent gives you 4 or 5 free hits for every shield, in addition to burst attacks, with a huge period of invincibility on all of these. At least you're still at a great disadvantage after losing just one life.

It is nice that you can start from any loop in multiplayer, though. I'll have to see what 99 looks like.

I played out to 10 today in Score Attack mode and obliterated the previous high score on the leaderboards. The new high score is 23043900

But my problem with it is how long did that take you? I (and I imagine others) cannot sit in front of the TV for 6 or 7 hours straight to do that.
At some point I'll get around to getting the 10mil achievement, but I'm going to suicide immediately after hitting it because that's already nearly 2 hours of playing.
I wish there was a way to set what loop you wanted to play in Story mode.

I would need to clear out an entire weekend to even begin to attempt to break your score :D

It's on Route 9 and Schanck Road in Freehold, right where 79 ends.
I live not even 20 minutes from the place, so needless to say I'll be there.

Good shoutout, If my Escort Wagon has gas in it and I have cash, I might come out and say hi.

In Otomedius Excellent news (which I'll remind everyone: Is what this thread is for)

Anoa in her school girl outfit came out today, the same as always except with access to Vector Laser

Eurl Tron in Pastel's outfit from Twinbee is out today, the same as always except with access to the Disruptor beam.

Both girls level according to the nonspecial version's level, so you don't have to grind yet another pair of characters out.

Both girls come with one gallery entry.

You forgot to mention the price, lol, anyway, the Extra outfits are 160MSP each with free catalog/comp. packs for online co-op.

Of course this was released for the JP version and their Marketplace though.

Stopped by my local Gamestop just to see if they had it in stock.
Had the most awkward conversation I think I've ever had with another human being including such gems as "did this game come out in the US?" "does the title have a translation?" and "Oh-tom-ee-dee-us Excellent?"
15 minutes of work just to find out that no one at that GS had heard of it (and only half of them have heard of Konami) and they didn't have it and were pretty sure no GS in NJ has it.
