I picked up some Strikers 1945 II artwork and manual.
But I was a bit sad to see the art has a bit of damage to it, there is a tear in the middle!
Image

I should have picked that up in the first place, but oh well. Lesson learned.

Sure! Knock yourself out. I'm planning on putting together a gallery of all of these for my homepage. Possibly this weekend. I'll update this thread with a link to share with everyone here.

I moved from UK to Canada in 2008. I investigated PAL signal converters back then, couldn't find anything cheaper than 400 bucks. Was under the impression that these were super expensive for a long time. Oh well, this thing was 50 bucks.

Puts me back in touch with all my PAL games and DVDs but best of all:

Catching up on some older titles. The Killzone I've had since launch though. The Bare Knuckle 2 is autographed by Yuzo himself. The Turrican CD is autographed also but most probably assumed as much.

That stuff at the top just wound up in the frame. To lazy to crop.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

A couple of things for work. Not the best saw technically but it is relatively light, has a larger 'window' to see the blade from the left side and comes with a lifetime warranty. I've had a hammer with a metal shaft for the past several years and I wanted something with less vibration. I want to get some new bags but I keep flip-flopping on dropping almost $300 for some Occidental Leather.

Birthday woot loot! Ikaruga (white) model kit by Kotobukiya. I've no plans to build this just yet. I think the next shmup kit I'll build will be the R-9A Arrowhead from R-Type Delta.

Thanks! So far, as far as shmup ships go, I have built the Vic Viper and the Galaga space fighter. You can find a gallery of completed SF models here:
http://stevethefish.net/life/life031.htm

So as promised, here is the gallery of these chirashi game flyers I said I was going to make. In case you missed any in this thread, they are all here:

Are those tough to build? I have built many model kits in my day but just the stuff like cars and planes.

They require painting? I would be afraid to fuck it all up.

They're moulded in colour so they look pretty good unpainted.

RealPlumpBox, Sly is right. These parts do come in different colored plastic. What you'd need to do is get a can of gloss top coat (stay away from Testors since it yellows white plastic)... Anything else should be fine. Krylon, Mr. Super Clear, Tamiya TS-13 Clear etc. After applying the waterslide decals and using a softening agent to get them to melt to the gloss coat, you can use Mr. Top Coat Flat (or gloss or semi-gloss) to seal the decals. I think there may be an acrylic clear coat by Krylon, too. Just don't use a lacquer-based clear spray on top of the decals because they can eat away at the decals.

Basically, if you want a glossy-looking Ikaruga ship, you can just buy a can of Mr. Top Coat gloss and use it under and on top of the decals and you're set. You'd just need to buy a can of that (you can buy it on Amazon, eBay, or especially PlaJapan.com), some Micro Sol to melt the decals onto the surface, and of course just a nipper to clip the parts off the tree, a file, and some finishing sandpaper for smoothing where you had removed the parts from the runners.

Many years ago, I built a model of the Narcissus from Alien/Aliens and didn't paint it. All I did was the panel lines. A few months ago, it was really bothering me with how plastic-y it looked. So I sprayed it with a flat coat and it looked pretty nice. It no longer looked plastic, but a painted finish. I'd heard that a top coat on top of plastic changes its appearance, but seeing was believing.

When the Vic Viper kits came out several years ago, lots of people on here bought those kits, but many on here did not have much experience with building a plastic model. Those Vic Viper kits are particularly tricky due to poor engineering. So, I made a build video series for the Vic Viper using minimal tools as a guide for those who wanted to build a nice model, but were inexperienced with making models. Check it out. I tailored those videos to people who have little or zero experience with building models. I can guarantee you that the Ikaruga ships and the R-Gray1 from Layer Section/Raystorm should be easy builds, since they are made by Kotobukiya. I believe they're snap kits, even. The shmup kits by Plum (R-Type, Darius, Silpheed) and those by Wave (Galaga, Xevious) will require gluing and such.

@greg, Thanks for the review and tips. Once I have some spending money I may have to look into some shmup kits.

Cute figure of some girl from Beatmania IIDX.

Some PC engine games. Evangelion Soundtrack (I think) that I found in a box with cheap stuff, inside a hentai game shop (of all places).

Yeah it's terrific! It's basically what the unfinished KOF 12 should have been, and then some. At competition level there's some bullshit, but nothing you'd notice as a dabbler or even mid-tier player. Alas, it's in the arcades here but finding competition is tough - everyone's playing '98.

...Guilty as charged.
