Just saw an incredible replay of a guy clearing the first four stages of Ultra mode with AbPalm on one coin with a score of 1 billion+. He doesn't show the end of the run, but he said that he misses the 1-up and makes it as far as the descent into the final area. Fuckin' nuts! Guess we'll find out about the existence of a true final boss before too long.
I'm uploading the replay to megaupload which should be easier to download from than a torrent.
(edit: damn this thread has a lot of views...)

Many, many billion by the looks of it. When the 2nd boss explodes his total counter is at 35k and stage counter 27k giving him 58 million from the boss' death alone. Imagine what the total counter can amount to at the end of the game if you no miss...ArrogantBastard wrote:Just watched the replay and all I can say is: Wow. Just wow.
Makes me wonder how high the score can go since this was an unoptimized run.

270mil Stage 2 Maniac mode replay up on our fave board:
http://b-board.rdy.jp/torrent/index.php
It would be nice if they released Maniac vids of the other levels. I'm getting a bit sick of stage 2.

Lastest High score from Arcadia no81 (february2007). Its from V1:
Original:
208.071.133/ Reko /All
207.607.031/ Palm / All
Maniac:
381.076.267/ Reko / All
369.678.800/ Palm / All
nice bit of info, thanks for sharing. could you please post which players achieved those scores? (assuming their names are "readable". if they're written in kanji, nevermind
also, if time permits, can you post some more STG records from issue 81?
(feel free to round down the digits, eg. 'psyvariarII=231.2M[TZW]')
merci beaucoup

Today's video is of a Taiwanese player having a hell of a time using Abnormal Reco in Ultra mode. Seems like there's more slowdown in stage 2 with her, but that might just be me.

Well... from what we could actually see of stage 2... the colour saturation in that video was horrid!NTSC-J wrote:Today's video is of a Taiwanese player having a hell of a time using Abnormal Reco in Ultra mode. Seems like there's more slowdown in stage 2 with her, but that might just be me.

This announcement is pretty suspect:

Manic Shooter
CAVE annonce la sortie de MUSHI HIMESAMA 2 sur borne arcade, sur PS2 et...Dreamcast ! Aucune date de sortie communiquée, mais il semblerait que ce soit pour très, très bientôt (février ?)
http://www.eurotaku.com/news.php
I'm pretty sure that Cave haven't announced anything in regards to the possibility of a home-port.

Hey, why not? Sega are probably just handing out GD-ROMs at this point.Kaede wrote:L O L
Dreamcast port?![]()
Never gonna happen.
"Here, take these! We're trying to clear out a warehouse or two! Print something on them... we don't even care at this point. Just look at Jingi Storm."
In all seriousness though, after thinking about it, I can at least see Cave considering a homeport of Futari given how popular it is and the fact that despite the lacklustreness of the homeport for the first game, it still sold very well and warranted a reprint (NCSX claim that the reason behind the Ibara reprint being cancelled was simply that Taito didn't receive enough pre-orders to warrant doing it).
As for Pink Sweets... well, that didn't even do well in the arcades so I can understand Cave not bothering with a homeport (maybe they should port that to DC... it'd probably do better numbers). And as for ESPGaluda 2... well, we got an amazing homeport of the first game and it sold like crap, so I can understand them skipping a port of the sequel.
Plus, as has been said before, Cave don't even need to bother creating some arrange mode... all they have to do is slap both 1.0 and 1.5 on the same disc... instant alternative game mode.
And then there's the publisher nonsense...

A port would obviously be wonderful, but this specific news is clearly bogus. It's dated Jan 9th. Ten days later there aren't even whispers of such news on any Japanese gaming site (particularly danmakugata). A dreamcast port is dubious, but it would be a great surprise if they did go that way with a port. I think the DC could probably handle the game a bit better than the PS2, and there would be a higher chance of it being in true low res.
As for the reason in skipping a Galuda 2 port, I don't think it has anything to do with the sales of the first Galuda's port. That game sold well enough to warrant a reprint. And Galuda 2 was hugely popular in the arcades for months.

Oh, didn't you hear... Cave have shifted focus to the French market.twe wrote:A port would obviously be wonderful, but this specific news is clearly bogus. It's dated Jan 9th. Ten days later there aren't even whispers of such news on any Japanese gaming site (particularly danmakugata).
Actually, I wouldn't mind double-up rez on a DC port since the trade-off for pixelated visuals would be VGA compatibility. And that's definitely a trade I'm willing to make... so long as it isn't anti-aliased.twe wrote: A dreamcast port is dubious, but it would be a great surprise if they did go that way with a port. When did ESPGaluda get a reprint? Weren't the sales-figures for the first weekend something like less-than-8000?twe wrote: As for the reason in skipping a Galuda 2 port, I don't think it has anything to do with the sales of the first Galuda's port. It would be great if they offered low and hi res viewing options, like in the Treasure collection on the PS2.Kiken wrote: Actually, I wouldn't mind double-up rez on a DC port since the trade-off for pixelated visuals would be VGA compatibility. Both DDPDOJ and Espgaluda were reprinted after their original prints were sold out. I'm not sure when the reprint occurred, but it was within the last 1-2 years. It was posted on Arika's site. Also, you can still buy brand new copies of DOJ and Galuda pretty easily. When did ESPGaluda get a reprint? Weren't the sales-figures for the first weekend something like less-than-8000?
