I know this was covered elsewhere...ages ago...

But *WHY* did Cave choose the 360? It was more powerful than the PS3? Ketsui was in development but the PS3 couldn't handle it then, it eventually did come out on the PS3 anyway...

Just always seemed like the worst possible move -> Oh, out of business! And only in 2015 someone realized Steam might be a viable platform?

They got help from Microsoft.

Ketsui was being ported to PS2, but it didn't have the resources needed to handle stage 5. The PS3 port wasn't done by CAVE, so probably won't appear on Steam unless 5PB decides to do it themselves.

All this talk about mushihime in HD and 1.5 has got me quite hyped actually. I played the game a lot on mame, so I am actually looking forward to seeing it in HD and with better sound.

"Winter 2015" I'm guessing there is no solid release date yet, unless I missed something on this thread.

What the hell is a "Bug Princess"?

Trying to think of how the conversation would go:
" Have you played that new hardcore Arcade shooter on steam? It's bad ass."
"What's it called?"
"BUG PRINCESS."
"......"

"Bug Princess" sound like a Pixar or Dreamworks animated movie from early 2000s :P
But *WHY* did Cave choose the 360?
Sony didn't let 2D games that much at some point.

I really hope not as that title just makes it sound like a silly game for 7 yr old girls.

Well, if you remember that pcgamer site column, where people stated that it is a game about very young girls (really? i thought main character looks like she could be in 18-25 range)...

Maybe we can curse Touhou for it cause people are getting used that danmaku equals moe or lolis and don't understand that it's..a shmup

2 things that should definitely be changed.

Disable continues in Score Attack. Several of the Cave games on 360 allowed this and then it takes the highest score from any of your credits instead of only the first credit which is completely unacceptable.

Please fix the Restart option to be a proper run restart like it should be instead of a stage restart that disables score save and achievements(even when done on the first stage). This could also then allow the option in Score Attack which would save time from being able to pause, restart instead of pause, exit out to the menu, reselect score attack and shot type.

Or you could have 2 Restart Buttons instead of one. Restart Stage(disables score save and achievements) and Restart Run(which restarts at stage 1 and doesn't disable those). Or maybe just the first for normal play and the second in Score Attack.

If this does well, they should release Futari next. As that game is wonderful, and would make sense to release after the first one.

I'm VERY cold on the last two DDP games, but I know they're gonna be wanting to release those soon.

Do they? I can think of a few games that do this but I don't think Cave's have ever been in that category.

My preference is for one mode that allows for uploading scores/replays but has them disabled if you are on non-defaults, continue etc.

Most if not all of the Cave games that allowed continues in score attack did that.

Deathsmiles definitely did it. You could also see what credit number they were on during the score on the leaderboard so you knew it wasn't actually valid.

I think the DFK games also took the highest scoring credit.

Don't remember if Akai Katana even had continues in its score attack or not because I didn't play the game long enough to seriously try score attacks.

I remember when Mushi 1 came out people mentioned you could continue right before beating the final boss if you weren't going to clear then beat someone's score who didn't clear thanks to the clear bonus(on Original obviously)

Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets didn't have continues in Score Attack, but I'm mentioning it for a different reason. It was the only Cave release on 360 that even in Normal play did not save any scores other credits. On MMP/PS, even if a credit you used after continuing scored higher, only the first credit's score was saved.

Actually, I recall this being a thing. Continuing a run would still upload the score and replay.

If you downloaded their replays, you could see them doing it. I remember downloading and watching someone's run off the leaderboard that continued on Aki.

Do they have high res assets for Futari? I thought I had remembered reading that someone else did that port?

M2 did the Futari port, but from my understanding M2 doesn't port the same way that 5PB ports? I don't really know the ins and outs of it, but it seems like M2 ports things as a subsidiary of whatever company they're working under, whereas 5PB is more like Rising Star, where they acquire the rights to release the game

also M2 does it better than anyone else in the business but that's just a given by now

So it's not being translated, then? Reading some of the replies here I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Now i finally realise i'm not really happy with Mushihimesama.

While i love it's audiovisuals (beautiful music, interesting setting, lovely creatures) it's too danmaku for me even on original mode.
Though i just haven't found my place in genre cause i m relatively new to it.

If they had any sense, they'd translate the game but not the title.

Which means we'll probably get "Bug Princess" with Japanese text in-game.

I already have the 360 port but I guess I'll buy this just for 1.5.

Does anyone know how soundtracks work on Steam? Can I take the audio files out of Steam and put them on iTunes or whatever?

Soundtracks most of the time are just mp3 files in a separate folder downloaded again the game so yeah, you can copy them at will. Some games even come with the FLACs in another folder but it's not as common, varies from dev to dev.

I do hope that if they put DDP Resurrection, they also bring in the smartphone OST because I found it nicer than the original and the boss themes were like I was playing an old school SEGA game (tl;dr it was mindless fun, the other just sounded too "pretty" or cute at times, especially the last stage but it did have some nice guitar riffs and solos here and there).

Can't wait to try stage 5 of Mushi in HD! That's going to be brutal. Oh, and if Futari isn't next, Death Smiles is probably just around the corner. For obvious reasons. (Tyranosatan of course, or did you think I was talking about lolis!? :P )

It depends on the game. Most games on Steam have their OST as part of a different file like a .bin file or something as opposed to having them in their own folder as clearly identifiable mp3's. There is no way to know for sure basically.

If we have any chance of getting the smartphone soundtracks, I hope someone will remember that the Espgaluda II iOS soundtrack was never released in any form. This would be a great chance to finally get it in people's hands.

I was never a big fan of the smartphone OSTs but I wouldn't be against them being on Steam. That being said, I wonder if games like Espgaluda II who got HD versions on smartphones would see those assets be used for the PC ports. IIRC, the iPad version looks even better than the Black Label port on the 360.

Wait... so this is the first Mushihime and not Futari?
