I swear, you're improving by leaps and bounds with every track you put out. Solid work, dude. :>

On my end, here's a sample of what I've been working on for the past few months: the soundtrack for Grybanser Fox's sequel to Zenohell, Zenodyne R!

Thanks! :D Unfortunately I'm running a bit low on ideas for the next one D: Hopefully inspiration will strike again

Cool that you're doing an actual game soundtrack! Sounds really good. Are you using Deflemask for that? I feel like I'm detecting some Tomomi Otani influence there.

Smooth Dawn (Deeply Remixed) came out on Monday. Old tracks for a release I finished back in 2011 and sat gathering dust for ages. One label later and I had a 4th track finished from around the time. Now Run On Recordings asked for more music from me and I showed them this. Even if you hate my tracks, the remixes alone are worth grabbing. Tons of them even.

Throw this on the back burner and completely forgot about it for 2 weeks. Not going to work on it for at least a year.

I didn't think so either, but I listened to it, and thought it sounded like it would be fun to cover.

I was asked to take part in Nagual 2. More great artists taking part, some of the same from the first boxed set, including me, and a bunch of new artists I've not heard of. I've thrown up a preview on soundcloud of my 3 tracks of Ambient. The release is currently up for pre-order and if this is even half as good as the first Nagual USB boxed set, this one should be worth having.

I am making a track for a Devil's Crush-inspired pinball game using the MD's YM2612 + PSG soundchip. I hope I can post the track here soon; it might be the best I've made in nearly a year. Lucky me; I need to find a way to find more indie projects to work on.

Nice covers.

Spider Dance: I would have brought out the lead a little bit more in the first half, since it can be hard to distinguish the melody while the backing chords + bell is going on at the same time. This can usually be done by lowering the volume of the chorus instruments, or upping the lead by an octave, or a mix of both.

Ruins:

The instrumentation around 1:00 was my favorite part. The warm synths make a good pad effect, especially with the touch of vibrato.

Very nice soundscapes here, with the second of the three tracks being my favorite with that light backing that almost sounds like a harpischord or string sound stretched out super long.

Wow, actually good constructive criticism about my chiptune :D Much appreciated. I am pretty bad at mixing.

It's something you get better at over time. Some of my earliest tracks (5 years ago now?) are really painful to listen to... in some cases, literally, because I didn't know anything about volume mixing and there were blowouts all over the place.

==

I've released some tracks of a shmup soundtrack in FM that I worked on a little while back. I don't know what became of the game (as I forgot the email/password I used as the contact for the dev), but some tracks turned out very nice:

Skies over the City (Stage 3)
Smash and Tear! (Boss #4)
Weeks into Years (Stage 5)

Thanks; back when I made the soundtrack, I knew that that track would be a "hit" - at least it was to me. Often times you are lucky to have one or two tracks in a project to be real stand-outs; in this case, that was one of them.

I'm amazed and ashamed I missed this. You have proven yourself to be effortlessly good at using that soundchip and making some seriously complex and enjoyable tracks. From the pulsing techno beats of Violent Velocity, to the epic rock-opera feel of the final boss theme (and just about everything in between) this soundtrack covers a lot of ground, showing off smart instrumentation choice, good mixing, and clever melodies. That there are so many different tracks, and that all are produced so well speaks to your commitment and talent over what was clearly a long haul and difficult project. Congratulations man, this is A+ stuff.

Shoutouts to the crazy, creeping tones skittering through the OMAKE tracks, adding some ghouish atmosphere.

Much appreciated! I was aiming to keep it as varied as possible while maintaining an overall dark/ominous sound, so it's relieving to hear that I pulled that off. Really pleased to hear you liked it, thank you. :3

So, I thought that Spider Dance would adapt really well to the C64's SID chip, and I tried my hand at it. It's not great, just because the SID is really confusing, and I don't actually understand most of how to use it, but hopefully someone will gain enjoyment from it anyway.

I could never figure out the SID chip - but then again, trackers for SID years ago were very hard to use/figure out, and lacking in overall documentation (for the hardcore I guess). DefleMask makes this a whole lot easier since it is doing a lot of the heavy-lifting - that and there's actually a manual.

Not that I've touched it in a while; I am busy working on an FM soundtrack and am still using my ol' standby, VGMM.

Well, it is a tracker, so if you've never used one before the learning curve is going to be a bit steep. The first few hurdles for me were learning how the interface works, and how to design/edit instrument settings. It does look intimidating at first, but if you can sink the time in, I think you should be fine. Plus, hey, it's free. Can't argue with an entry point like that. ;3

^Both of those are nice. I look forward to hearing the longer version of the preview, as I like how it starts to develop by the end of the WIP.

Here's a sneak-peek at the OST I mentioned above, a horror-themed pinball game with music using the MD soundchip. The main theme is going to have some inspiration from Devil's Crush, but I don't want to post that one yet.

I dug into my memory of Baroque piano music lessons as a kid to get inspiration for this. Though the comparisons can and should stop there!
