Download an IRC client eg. mIRC. Start it up and you will see an empty bar at the bottom of the window, this is for entering commands and chatting in the channels. First you must join the server, in this case Efnet. To do so simply type in the empty 'address' bar -

/server irc.efnet.net ..and press Enter

This will then pop up a window asking for a nickname, e-mail (enter a fake one) etc. Fill these in if you haven't already and then OK. Now you're ready to join the shmups channel. In the bottom bar again type -

/join #shmups

This will gain you entry into the shmups channel! (hopefully)

If uploading a video is such a bother, you could simply upload the INP...

Its obvious that he posts fake scores and then plays for 2 weeks afterwords to try and exactly match that score. Yes, he plays enough for weeks after the tournament to exactly match scrores

@SFKhoa : Thanks, but I've already watched that vid...I'd just like to watch the full run vid (or INP that doesn't matter, and it's much easier to upload), since SiKrAiKeN said there would be one.

If there's a problem with an ftp client, then I guess Rapidshare could do. I'd host the video on my own ftp (or upload it on Twiddle's), as soon as I get it.

Wouldn't it of been easier to do all this recording through wolfmame or something since I'm assuming you don't have to worry about difficult encoding? (As i've never heard of anyone complaining about encoding when they try to provide an imp through MAME)

Also the inp file would be a fraction of the size of the file you are trying to upload.

Well it would still be better then having to download a huge video file.

Another version of mame is prob 5-10 megs whereas the movie would be much larger then this.

And its not like mame versions are hard to find or anything either.

I'd prefer both. inp for those of us who have an itty bitty hard drive and a video file for those of us who want to watch it w/o mame. It'd also be really convenient for whoever (DJI?) does that video of gameplay from the comp. If it happens at all.

It's funny how people tend to bitch about having to work really hard to get a new version of mame running. Most of the time it's a gui version. Not hard. The file self extracts and you're all set except for controls and directories. Which don't matter if you're just watching .inps.

Yeah I guess there are good points and bad points about both ways of producing the replay.

Overall though, I don't mind just as long as sikraiken doesn't hit many more problems (And hence cause delays for like many more days) with trying to supply this vid

Doesn't stop people from refusing to watch .inps or play a game just because they would need an alternate version of Mame.

Maybe he doesn't want to upload an inp because of the stink last year over the ability to hack them (including WolfMAME). With a good quality video of a run through, you'd think it would be a bit easier to notice if someone tried to edit pieces together.

The inp could have been uploaded 2 weeks ago with a link to the version of mame used. It's not rocket science. Then he could have gone ahead and encoded the video and uploaded that whenever it suited.

I've already apologized for the delays. I don't owe anyone anything here.

I don't have an INP. If we didn't use autofire, I would have made an occasional one. It's pointless though since any INP with autofire in it will get zero'ed at MARP, and that's the only reason I would care about an INP in the first place. I don't care about file size. Plus, I hate having to quit out and start up again when I mess up. I'm using a capture card and it's always on, so when I get a good run I don't have to worry about "oh, hey, did I decide to quit out of the game and record an INP or was I too lazy to do that this time". It's nice to just hit F3 to restart.
