I wish I knew this game better

Also I wish that I beat Vimana again for the tournament.
Looks like I'll have to raise my expectations as I'm on my last life.

Holy shit there goes that extend you earned.chum wrote:chum - Super Cobra - P1 - 2 - fail
No Refuge does actually have a very basic rank system in place, but it's determined by the performance of the overall group rather than individual players. NR was intended to be a somewhat more cooperative concept, to see how long we as a group could keep it running before dying out.chum wrote:If Death Roulette had a rank system I'd be in deep shit

They're the main enemies in stage 3.Illyrian wrote:I don't understand the challenge. Is the Maoi a level boss or something?

Recovery in Gradius 1 is super easy on almost every checkpoint, and none of them are remotely impossible.Illyrian wrote:Then I had the joy of trying to recover in a Gradius game.

I don't know I've 1cc-ed it and I still think recovery is a total bitch in it. It's only easy relative to other games in the series imo, there are quite a lot of hellishly bad times to die, like anywhere on the Moai stage for example.trap15 wrote:Recovery in Gradius 1 is super easy on almost every checkpoint, and none of them are remotely impossible.
It's frustrating when you are first learning it, but it's a really excellent game once you learn how to get around in it.Illyrian wrote:There are shit shmups, and then there's the original Gradius.

ROFLCOPTERSKATES!!trap15 wrote:V-V good, lmao.
Have to agree with trap15 here. Recovery on the moai stage is fairly easy: shoot the ones that are faced towards you and hide behind the ones that look away from you. It's pretty trivial to scurry from one safe spot to the next. The only places I find to be difficult to recover from are the end of 1-4 and the beginning/middle of the final stage, other than that it's mostly simple. Higher loop recovery is a different story altogether, haven't been able to do anything worthwhile regarding that.ACSeraph wrote:It's only easy relative to other games in the series imo, there are quite a lot of hellishly bad times to die, like anywhere on the Moai stage for example.
I certainly have to disagree with that, though. V-V is great.trap15 wrote:V-V good, lmao.
Have to disagree, after the end of moai stage is still hard to recover and yes it's instant game over for me unless you're mention Nemesis one.Perikles wrote:The only places I find to be difficult to recover from are the end of 1-4 and the beginning/middle of the final stage, other than that it's mostly simple.
I will admit that I enjoy all the outrage from skilled players over something as innocently playful as the first Gradius, however.
