Squarepusher aren't, no. Jungle just produced a lot of whitelabels, and those Squarepusher tracks I have are lost amidst my jungle white labels. Still, if you want some jungle pointers, I can fire you a PM at some point.Stan wrote:Cool. Are they jungle then? I haven't played a mario or zelda since n64 so I'm at least moderately hyped.

Sonic All-Stars Racing definitely screams moderate hype.

Game running off a powerpak flash cart for the photo of course.

As with Toaplan's publishing of Musha Aleste, I do get quite a shooter geek buzz seeing Compile and Irem's names on the same game. ^_^
Super Fun Facts: the FC version's password for TheGuardianLegend mode translates to "ALG." Unlike the NES version you're not given the code after the staff roll, but the back cover of the FC manual does have a striking logo for "Another Legend of Goardic."

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I just got a new fucking laptop.
Absolutely fantastic. i5, 6GB RAM, runs Sonic Generations [not at a clean 60, but it's more than playable -- there are some bad framedrops and I decided to run at 512x384 [holy shit I can do that?! I'm amazed I even have options like that still... Thanks, laptop!] ]. Runs Ibara at full speed in that one build of MAME, runs STV games in MAME 0.128 at full speed. Just tried running Ikaruga in NullDC, constantly at full speed.
Haven't gotten around to moving all my shit off my other machines [all the shit that isn't on Dropbox or my external HDD, at least].

Sure, there's Windows 8 on it, but it's nice. The machine, not Win8.
The only issue I've noticed is that sometimes, wifi will take forever to initialize when the machine comes out of sleep. Bleh.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

If you say it like "Da-ra-i-a-su" to other English speakers, you're just a cock. Da-ree-us works until you're trying to get the PCB up at G-Front. Without the proper, spot-on pronunciation they look at you puzzled like you just escaped from the zoo and don't have a fucking clue what you're asking for.drauch wrote: Well, there isn't just an R in Japanese, and RA is one Katakana, so to romanize it you would have to have Da-ra-i-a-su. So yeah, it would be Da-ree-us. Leet JP speakers correct me if I'm wrong.
I hate it when you watch the local news and there's a hispanic-american on there, and they speak perfect English until they get to a Spanish word and then go so-over-the-top with the pronunciation and inflection. Maybe this is just a Texas thing..?
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I personally know mexican-americans who do that. So it's not just a Texas thing...rancor wrote:I hate it when you watch the local news and there's a hispanic-american on there, and they speak perfect English until they get to a Spanish word and then go so-over-the-top with the pronunciation and inflection. Mistake one syllable and they will throw you under the bus. Such an unforgiving language. If you say it like "Da-ra-i-a-su" to other English speakers, you're just a cock. I think it just happens if you speak the other language. I'm guilty of it w/ Japanese words.I hate it when you watch the local news and there's a hispanic-american on there, and they speak perfect English until they get to a Spanish word and then go so-over-the-top with the pronunciation and inflection. Yeah, I've known twats like that before. I don't think I can even say it. It just sounds so bizarre.rancor wrote:If you say it like "Da-ra-i-a-su" to other English speakers, you're just a cock. I can't help but pronounce Ikaruga properly though, even though everyone I know does it wrong... whether they speak Japanese or not.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I honestly think that there are no such things as context clues here. This happens all of the time with the wife when I cannot think of the proper word / pronunciation, and she can't figure out what the hell I'm trying to say.GaijinPunch wrote: Mistake one syllable and they will throw you under the bus. Think about the subject. Hear the other words around the subject. If I get 3 of the 4 syllables correct, at least make a fucking attempt to guess what I'm trying to say instead of immediately going to "I have no idea what you're talking about." Change one syllable, and it's perfectly clear. Maybe it's just the lack of critical thinking here.
Anyhow, I digress... Show us the beautiful shit you bought!

Don't be. It's a chinese fake from ebay - I just couldn't justify the cost of shipping the official one to the cold north.shmuppyLove wrote:I'm more jealous of the "N7" Mass Effect hoodie
The red/white lines on the arm were simply glued on and fell off almost immediately, as punishment for me being a horrible cheapskate.

On the plus side, it's still hella' comfy.
CHECKPOINT!

Now onto mu NON gaming pick-ups

I think you're right, GP probably just means the American way of saying 'eye' for everything 'i'. As in 'eye-kah-ru-ga', 'pen-eye-cillin', 'va-itamins.'drauch wrote:Ha... probably wouldn't hurt. Yea, "eekaroogah" is right, but I think most people (including myself) say "ickaroogah". Never heard "eyekaroogah" (or "peneyecilin").
Generally I stick to the proper pronunciations for Japanese words that are used in English, but it's hard not to sound like an asshole when you say "karate" correctly.
