Just buy some white buttons and swap them over, takes three minutes. That's what I did.
Just switch them all over, right? Any particular type you would recommend?

They're Sanwa buttons in the VLX I believe, so just go for those. Won't be hard to find a set in white, I just posted a WTB on Arcadeotaku and had an offer in about an hour.

The one in the picture is actually a 360 version with swapped white buttons (you can see the xbox360 button in upper right). It also has a kitty board for pc / ps3 / multi console use

Wanted a nice pic taker to haul into the murk/mountains here, so this seemed like the thing (camera and lens both supposedly weather resistant). A nice, solid camera feels like such a luxury item.

No, traded it as Milon's Quest for a used Ketsui DS LE on Marktplaats here in Holland .
Even with a sunfaded cover, that's the deal of the century.
God damned that still pissed me off yesterday on work when I read that because I hadn't noticed it at all
Then I got home and checked and found out that it's indeed a tad sunfaded but much much less than it appears on that foto

I'm a pro at spying the fade, but I honestly wouldn't worry, it's worth much more than you got it for.

So, is there really a difference in image qualitybetween a mini with RGB out, compared to an old SNES? I notice you tossed the old one in the can there.
I always found the SNES to have blurry RGB out.

There is indeed a notable difference, the SNES1 looks blurry/dithered by comparison to a modded SNES2, it is worth tracking down and doing the simple mod on. All the better if viewing on a RGBS capable CRT of some sort as well.

I think the US SNES model 1 has a hideous design too, but that's another topic.

First proper camera.
T3i, 18-55 IS, 55-250 IS, 32GB Class 10 SD card, cables/manuals/other stuff from the kit, spare battery, ultra-portable mini tripod (so that I at least have something to hold the camera steady for long exposures until I research tripods enough to consider investing in one)

Was really, really tempted by the Pentax models in this price range because of their much more robust construction and supposedly better kit optics, but the T3i seemed like a more expandable investment, especially since I think I'll almost certainly be using the video functionality (where Pentax is really behind the curve, even before Magic Lantern is considered).

Nice Canon Set you got yourself - congratulations!
I had the T3i myself for about a year, nice camera.

Heh, thanks. I did a ton of research before putting the money down, and this seems like a solid entry point in terms of price/features/expandability. I have several friends who own the camera, so I was able to talk to them in detail about their experiences. Plus it's comfortable, which is a huge deal for me. I have pretty long fingers, so most consumer cameras are incredibly uncomfortable to hold. Even most DSLR bodies (at least in the entry level price range) were less-than-stellar.

What happened? Upgrade?

Yes - upgraded to a two digit Canon, the new 70D (the main reason was the topdisplay and the bigger case, my hands are very big).
You will have a lot of fun with this camera, enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I've heard that, but I haven't heard from someone who actually owned one.
And you're right about the design.

So is that dual pixel all that it's cracked up to be? Some dick hole stole my 5d2, so I got no more Canon stuff. I'm cool with one small digital camera, but I'm interested in the 70D since it's the most interesting "feature" Canon has put in anything in a while.

I haven't had enough time to test it in depth, but in video mode the whole thing is a big advantage.
Overall it is a very nice camera with a lot of cool stuff integrated - well worth the money in my opinion.

I recently nabbed a whole bunch of Sega Saturn "game chirashi" (A4 size, 8.5x11" game flyers) on YAJ. I plan on laminating these and posting them on the wall of my nerd cave. I scanned these in 300DPI, so if you want to nab these higher-res images, click the images below.

On the back of the Night Striker S one is an ad for Metal Black, also by Ving.

This Bulk Slash one is actually a smaller B4 size one.

I scored one for Sengoku Blade last night. I was outbid on one of those last week, but this time, I won it with one bid!

I've got a lot of 300 DPI ones as well. My Saturn collection is pretty extensive... I've not seen a Saturn flyer on YJ that I don't have at least a scan of in ages.
