Reliving some of these albums before the concert next week. Really looking forward to seeing them again, one of my favourite live bands.

Been on a massive Soundgarden binge. Never managed to get into Louder Than Love back in the day - it has its moments, but drags overall as an album. BadMotorFinger is of course, amazing, 'Somewhere' and 'Drawing Flies' being particular high points. Superunknown is simply one of the best classic rock albums of the last three decades. Down On The Upside and King Animal both don't quite hit those heights, but both still engaging listens beginning to end, though Upside really does require a commitment to sit down and pay attention to it.

Got Ultramega OK coming on vinyl this week. Original release was a bit before I got into the band, and simply never got around to picking it up. Recent events mean that I'm compelled to seek out everything I didn't hear originally, now there won't be anything new.

Interesting sounds. Not my cup of tea, but I imagine they sound amazing live.

The new single from MUTEMATH which sees a return to the driving guitar and drums. Heck, there is a crazy and short drum fill in the tune that blows the drummer in me away.

I'd already fallen in love with Dissection's Storm Of The Light's Bane, but now I'm digging into The Somberlain and fuck me, it's also excellent.

That band has one of my fave(if not my fave) black metal sound. Lots of slow, melodic(yet menacing) viking rock moments to go along with the furious blastbeats ones. All icy cold.

Truly the music of conquerors.

Carpenter Brut's new live album. It's amazing stuff, but i would at least recommend people to listen to the last track, a cover version of Michael Sembello's Maniac.

I'm impressed at how good this album is. I ordered both it and the repress of Trilogy, and expect it to be just a mixed together set of Trilogy tracks (I've seen Perturbator live twice now, and don't think there's really anything special about his sets aside from getting blasted by a great sound system - which is pretty great, but doesn't translate to a recording) - but this album is genuinely worth listening to. Glad I picked it up.

Just picked up The Beach Boys Sunshine Tomorrow. It's a stereo mix of Wild Honey and a load of alternate mixes and outtakes from that period just after Pet Sounds. It's fucking great. I've been a huge fan of the Beach Boys for years and spent many of them listening to shitty hissy bootlegs etc.

The sound quality is amazing. Love the detuned piano thats used on a lot of these tracks. Really relaxed collection. I hope they do the same for the following albums, Friends, Sunflower and Surfs Up.

I've recently discovered Gabber. Its quite wonderful, finally finding the genre that I'm sure inspired many of my favorite shmup/bemani tracks. Started going through the Thunderdome discs, and ended up being led to J-Core.

Noizenecio has been my favorite so far, beautiful mix of melody and sweet, distorted bass.

Noizenecio - Returning

Noizenecio - Digital Battlefield

Would love to get pointed towards some more of this stuff, if anyone has recommendations. :)

I don't know if what you're linking to can be classified as gabber, but it's definitely derivative.
It's pretty cool, but has a very modern sound, while it's obviously very inspired by classic hardcore/rave tracks, and at the same time avoids that absolutely repulsive "hardstyle" sound that got popular over the past decade or so.

I think you definitely want to look into some old hardcore compilations, such as the Thunderdome CDs, especially the earlier ones have some pretty asskicking tracks. There's a lot of classic around, but it's probably nearly 20 years since I was really into this stuff to remember anything to recommend.

But here's a few cool tracks off the top of my head:

This is the latest video from Wordburglar - the best rapper you probably haven't heard of. If you like rap and or are a child of the 80's you need to give him a listen.

It's about NARC. Yes, that NARC.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhBTjUN4a0M

As a bonus I included him rapping about the top 150 Xbox titles to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfuCfWoWfHk

Like what you hear? Check out the rest of his library which includes an album just about GiJoe.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

for gabber the stuff i like the most is the french/flashcore like mouse&no name, le peste and le talium. really deeply layered, almost atmospheric music where you almost don't realise how fast the kick drums are.

or classic shit like nasenbluten and dj freak.

i'll post some links tomorrow.
