Started off decent, but then turned to a bunch of aimless flying with no action at all. Looks lazy.

After watching that most recent HD gameplay video, I think I'm going to pass on this release. It's tough to stomach $70 - $80 after shipping when it doesn't look like it will be anywhere near as fun as Raiden IV. If it sees a US release I might eventually consider picking it up, but I'll pass on the import version for now.

And.. yeah. That intro was cheesy as hell.

Game looks fun. I guess noone in this thread actually played Raiden IV.

This intro is more impressive than any other intro in the series, other than the prerequisite Raiden II/DX arcade animation, and that's for technical reasons anyway.

The new purple weapon is an improved version of Gennoujou's main shot in Shikigami no Shiro.

Oddly enough, I'm still more hyped for the soundtrack then the game itself. Is that weird? :| Also, I don't like the fact that the sub weapons are now tied to each individual aircraft. That means no more switching in-game to deal with different situations. That, combined with the shield meter instead of lives just sound like weird last minute changes. I also noticed that the power up carrier enemies don't seem to shoot at you. I liked the introduction though, and by looking at the radar battle map, I was able to see that the name of the carrier is the Bellwether. Just some little detail I picked up, although I do recall that the name of the carrier in the Raiden for PC instruction manual was the Vengeance.

Funny intro, I can sleep soundly knowing that the New Raiden of the story is now beginning, at least.

AmiAmi has sent out payment requests - which suggests that they have the physical merchandise in stock.

I don't want to get anyone too excited, but as of right now, on amazon.jp, the Raiden V LE is the #1 best-selling shooter on the Xbox One.

Pretty huge.

It's also the 185th best-selling game overall. I'm not sure what #184 is (they only let you browse the top 100), but #100 is a very handsome third-party USB stand for the PS4 and I'm sure anticipation for that particular item was quite high, so not too shabby to be just a scant 85 places behind.

Technically the regular edition is the #2 product in the Xbox One category overall, but I don't think that really says much either

Amazon.jp is the only place where Japanese people buy video games. No one buys them on any other websites or at physical retailers OR digitally.

Honestly, I would expect a pretty good amount, if not possibly a majority of sales in Japan for this game to be coming from Amazon, considering the Xbox One has little to no shelf space anywhere in Japan at this point.

I have paid AmiAmi for my copy, to be shipped via EMS.

I'm in NY, USA. The total cost was 7650 JPY. My no-foreign-transaction-fee credit card registers this as $68.45 USD at the current exchange rate. Pretty good price for a brand-new full-priced import IMHO.

I look forward to receiving my copy next week and posting impressions. I am going in blind; I have not watched any of the posted videos or the trailer. Disclaimer: I am only a casual fan of the series; while I own Raiden IV on two platforms, and have put in a few hours, I have not ever cleared it. The most time I've spent with any of the games was with the splendid Raiden Fighters Aces collection.

Anyone downloaded it and has some feedback? Waiting for my amiami copy to get here, but I know I won't get it this week. I'm surprised that no one posted any new video of it.

Any news if it's actually a disc game rather than a download voucher in a box with a soundtrack CD? Someone mentioned that happened before :(

Only case I can recall this happened recently was with the retail package for MvC2 on PS3, which just had a slip with the download code inside

99.99% sure this is an actual disc

It is an actual disc. I saw them show it on the livestreams that they did.

I was thinking about Terraria - at the time only the Japanese PS3 retail release actually had a disc in it. The PS3/Xbox 360 retail releases in all the other territories were simply game disc cases with DLC vouchers - even the limited editions!

Is this chick the main baddie? Because she reminds me of Scarl from the anime Cyborg 009.

I don't see how, because the world is under threat from the Cranassian alien invasion. Unless someone can translate all of the character bios and intro for me. I would gladly appreciate that

Pre-odered it on AmiAmi, but I went with SAL registered, so it'll be a while before I get to play it. Fine with me though, because my backlog is massive enough as it is. Hopefully you guys who opted for quicker shipping post some impressions soon. Very eager to hear how the game really is.

In this video, the bullet speed looks just like good old hard Raiden. http://youtu.be/kN7Xg2852bs
Also, something that everyone overlooked: it appears the game is only 1 player? That's what the listings say, and the back of the box says one player only. Yet the blue 2P aircraft appear in-game when you use a special attack. What's the deal with that?

My Japanese isn't great, but I looked at 2ch and it seems like people are generally lukewarm on it at best. Some mention of bugs (something about the player movement when you use the plasma weapon, but it goes away when you reboot the game?) and general complaints about the production quality and it being overpriced for what's included. Some comparisons to Street Fighter V. A lot of people also seem to be awfully hung up on the quality of the physical packaging. Having not seen the game for myself, I have no idea how much those people might be hyperbolizing or not.
