Not sure how many here like Ambient, but I recently made this public on soundcloud. I'm down to one track left in the runtime for this, and this is the fastest I've worked on an album. Here's the first completed track I made for an album of ambient. Less than a week's worth of work and I'm almost done.

More Mega Drive stuff, but this time it's original - and relevant to the forum! A small demo reel for a fake shmup!

Thanks for the kind words. That set is really good. Really makes me wish for a real shmup in the mega drive style.

Just finished the complete soundtrack for this game. The music featured will get a mix overhaul before release, it's all composed and mixed using headphones, I've since bought proper studio monitors.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp4ibz8-L_k

The ending music I made hasn't made it into this build of the game yet. Also, this game is coming to Steam in a while.

The bass is a bit thin in the video, but overall it sounds like a cool, pumping techno soundtrack. Nice work!

Great music in that video emphatic. Really works well. Wish I knew how to make music fitting for a shmup. Anyways, a new release came out today. Deep and Ambient Techno with a screaming driving melodic and noisy remix from Dwn Cx. Owen Ni and I work well together, so we're going to become Outward Roots after this.

Well, I got YouTube links sent to me with stuff to mimic (the general feel of the stage), so you just apply yourself to the task at hand. :)

Not new music this time around for another post in here, but it was requested by a label owner and friend that I make a mix of Deep Techno and Ambient Techno music. It has dropped today and if anyone needs the tracklist I will post it. Features artists G.R.I.T., Sean Walsh, Coppice Halifax among others including a Hiroshi Watanabe remix he did for me a while back and a colab track with Owen Ni. Hopefully I didn't screw up too badly.

Step 1: Create an Industrial(?) song on Renoise
Step 2: Convert it into MML and compile it using the WonderSwan Total Sound Driver

All of these tracks are quite good. I need to get Deflemask soon. For the longest time Shiru Otaku's venerable VGMM was the be-all for FM music tracking, but Deflemask I suspect has already surpassed it in usability and versatility. Being actively supported is a big part of it.

I love the bell sound FM makes. Don't know why.
I like the MG2 remake, though I have a soft spot for ol' Opa Opa. MG2 has some of my favorite tunes in the entire series.

The jazzy touches of the synth melodies are what make the track for me. It is very solid and well-produced. You play it at clubs?

Did you sample the ZUN track itself? Some of the instruments feel like they are out of the game directly.

Future Funk, VaporWave, and other like genres have cropped up over the last year, and I'll admit that while I like some of it, it's hard to wrap my head around the whole process (french club + jpop = future funk?). Just rambling.

New FM YM2612 track: Hope in the Darkness.

Feel the determination!

To celebrate the [non-]accomplishment of 10,000 people pressing the "play" button on my soundcloud! 8)

This is a melody I've had sketched out on the piano for years before I finally stopped being lazy enough to commit. All the better, because it would have sounded a lot worse back when my skills were more rusty. For those interested in seeing the development, here is an old WIP of the track from a long time ago.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I have a soft spot for FM chimes and bells. :3

Now is actually a really good time to check Deflemask out! It's had MIDI in support since version 10, and Delek's just released version 11 with YM2151+SEGA PCM support. Exciting times for FM tracking, for sure.

Y'know, the steady one-two rhythm and ascending brass in this really makes me think "Tecnosoft!" Really like the breakdown half-way through, too. Nice work. :>

Surprisingly no, but I did my best to duplicate the original instruments by ear. For example, the clock tick-tock sample is actually a ride/crash sample in the PC-98 version. Also I did 4 things in the song to make it somewhat danceable

1) Transpose the 2nd to last part to match key/pitch
2) Switch 2 sections due to the weird slowdown and keep things moving in the song
3) Remove the slowdown
4) Obviously it's not my own rendition if I didn't gave it beatsgo-ish motifs and melodies E:

Here's the original version to get an idea what I mean

It's definitely far from being a song I can put out there for people to dance to, but compared to 2 years ago with the first song I release I came a long way.

Brand new release out on my own label with Owen Ni. We are Outward Roots and strive to create some sort of atmospheric techno sound. At least it can be called Ambient Techno on our first Ep together.

Just finished my 1st test track for my 1 man STG project, codenamed "PROJECT G"

It's full on heroic STG J-Metal .. won't be doing any more until I get the vertical slice done of the full 1st stage..

Probably a ton of fine tuning and detailing to go but I think it's at a suitable demo stage to privately share to see what you people think...

Excellent drums! Guitar tone is pretty spot-on for heroic J-metal, too, though I'd say the guitar melody could use some polish. A promising sneak-peek!

As a result of one of their tracks being used in American Horror Story, I have now discovered: She Wants Revenge.

It's like they were transplanted from 15-20 years ago, stripped back sound which reminds me in places of early Depeche Mode and Bauhaus.

First two albums I've liked.

Third I haven't listened to yet.

All raw hardware recordings. It's a... little bit different than your basic Master System music.

Noob question: how can I mimick that ''typically Japanese melody'' and we can hear starting at 0:16? I wish I could insert this sound into my tunes. Thanks!
