Looks like progress is going smoothly. I watched your inspiration Truxton II / Tatsujin Ou and this Crisis Wing game repeatedly. While yours appears solid, I do kind of notice that a few pieces of sprite work, especially on enemy spaceships, seems to seems to be slightly messy due to blunt shading or scattered dithering and some overt outlines, based on screenshots so far. When I took a closer look at Truxton II, the artwork does give great shape from the use of shade color to perceive depth from top-down view. You obviously done a great job with the rocks and background since they do provide proper shading as background.
I can understand that it may not be feasible since you are nearly finished with your game. Looking forward to at least pre-release demo.
[Edit 1] found your video on the OST, with some screenshots, and they seem solid for the most part. Hopefully a little polishing on the art would be necessary.
Strangely I had a dream I was surfing the forums and this was released.
Hey cut me some slack been sheltered in for eight weeks!
Anyways still looking forward to this!
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
Game's finished; now I am waiting for the Steam page to settle my tax info etc. (As I am outside US there is some extra bureaucracy; had to form a company as Steam does not allow non-US individuals to be taxed) - Once that's done I'll set up the steam page and decide release date (it's most likely Sep. or Oct.)
There's also some non-game-dev work to be done like writing the manual etc.
I also provided a build for selected people to do a test run which surfaced couple of bugs (mostly related to xbox one controller) so I'll address these before release. On the plus side it seems that 4k displays and refresh rates > 60hz work nicely out of the box!
Also difficulty was reportedly ok; dying was mostly by relentless zako in the latter levels - I was told that they become way more manageable when you memorize the enemy layouts and priorize targets.
