Cool, thanks a lot, Tobias!Fudoh wrote:works, but of course you'll have to output all games in 15khz to be displayed on the PVM, while you want them to output in 31khz for use on the Mini.

Is the Toro lighting up when you turn on the Dreamcast? The connector on it is pretty stiff and may need a bit of a push to fully connect.Gaz9000 wrote:Anyone having trouble getting any picture from their Toro? I have a black screen, it's as if it doesn't recognise there is anything connected
I have it connected via VGA cable, I do however get sound through the audio jacks
I've tried the switch on the box with no luck

Can the toro output 480p through its scart output?

Does having a scart cable plugged in while also outputting vga distort the image?

It worked fine on my tests. You can leave the scart cable on it while using the VGA output. However I don't recommend all outputs to be used at the same time.

Hi beharius,
I see that the Toro is sold out on your website.
I would very much like to purchase one.
Any chance that you will make more, or that there might be one available somewhere?
Thanks very much in advance for your help.

If we ordered one before, is there a way to "upgrade" to the newer version? Thanks!beharius wrote:Same functions+ scanline thickness switch added again, some deslgn changes and quality improvements.

It has a new pcb and cable design. You need to send it back for the upgrade.

Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
Hello everyone
First off please let me say, great forum here. It's provided a wealth of info for me as I learn up on Upscaling/Video processing of my retro games consoles, thanks.
Last week I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Xrgb Mini/Framemeister, and yesterday after a bunch of reading, pre-ordered a Toro VGA box for my Dreamcast. Looking forward to combining the two for some great Dreamcast gaming on my 2013 LED TV.
Just one question:
Does the 480p image that comes out of the Toro's Scart RGB connector provide the same quality as using VGA? (Once processed by the Framemeister, that is). If not, is there a way to obtain the VGA quality video with the Toro/Framemeister combo? (my TV is without a 15 pin VGA connector, unfortunately.)
I'm in New Zealand, and running a PAL Dreamcast console.
Thanks

Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
what would the upgrade cost be if i wanted to send my older version in? that was the one thing i lamented when i bought the toro, the loss of scanline thickness adjustments lolbeharius wrote:It has a new pcb and cable design. You need to send it back for the upgrade.

Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
There is no difference in the image quality between the VGA or Scart output of the Toro. Both outputs can do 480i/480p (RGB/VGA) modes.
For the upgrade, you need to send it back, only the bare pcb, no cable, no shells. Free of charge.

I just want to point out how cool this is. Not only do they sell the unequivocally best Dreamcast VGA box, but they reply with lightning fast speed to e-mails/forum posts and support product upgrades for free.beharius wrote:For the upgrade, you need to send it back, only the bare pcb, no cable, no shells. Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
Sorry, just noticed this.
New Toro box received!
Thanks beharius!
Haven't had a chance to test yet (been busy with work) but will hook up to the BVM this weekend and check it out.
Also going to use as a sync combiner for MAME on the BVM so looking forward to that too!
It's awesome that the Toro can be multi-function like that.
Stevens,
Yes, there's a bit of Snow Crash homage in there; also a nod to a good buddy and awesome video game artist named Hiro.

Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
Hello guys,
I am having problems with my Toro.
I have a BVM 24D (no VGA input)
The thing is that the the gadget works flawlessly with 240p signals but I am having problems using the VGA output (480p)
If you check the images you can see that 240p ones look great but in the 480p ones the upper part of the images is distorted

240p

480p. Check the upper part

480p. Check the upper part

480p. Check the upper part

240p
I have already contacted Yossi, but he says It's the first time he has had this particular problem
Any clues?

Re: TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!
I know it's a stupid question but:
Have you previously/recently connected another 480p source to your set (with the same cable) and verified that it displays without that particular distortion?
Just to rule out any possible problems on the set (or cable) itself.
