Thanks! i think i had 5 hearts at the start of stage 5 (pretty unusual - think that's the best i've done), and 4 at the boss so will have lost 2 lives on stage 5 (but gained one back with the 8m extend) and 3 on the boss. yeah i was restarting if i die on the first 2 stages too. good luck!

JB-5th lvl 5.1. This was a super sloppy run for score, but I made it to level 5. I made it once before (with a better score) but I chose to continue because I thought the first credit was safe. This game is great to train in!

Thanks to the band Exodus for my training music.

In awe of your skills, third_strike. Got any motivation for me?

Throwing up an Alice Master credit for funsies. Great character to play as. Pissed off that I didn't get the extend - I whiffed twice on the fucking st4 boss, like usual. Her spread is really great at picking up some extra enemies to combo.

Pleiades is such a lil dickhead. I hate his dumb streamcrossing blue clusters that start off the final form. They look sooooo easy to dodge thru but they love to hit the side of my hitbox or something. Get bent, Pleiades!

Tonight was a baddo night for practice. I grinded for an hour and it was just like "eeeeeh you almost dodged something!" I was stuck trying to get gold medals on stage 4 for a hot minute. Still too sloppy at it. Was playing way too aggressive and being too reluctant to bomb. It's practice, so I might as well face all the patterns, but it's also good to bomb when you need to so you can practice bombing and keep your head. Really wish I had more time to play--i always have to make the choice between drawing and shmupping, and that's rough.

Motivation? Pretty sure!
I can remember of play this after get out home 7 am and return around 10 pm after a long day of study, work and stress. In days like this, I could play only a run, and I would be really happy if I even reach last boss, but my greatest happiness was learn any new detail in this run. Then I would say, learn something new should be your best achieviment. Keep playing then suddenly you will start at making things which you was not capable before.

Fired this up on Switch after 20 years yesterday. I need to practice

So much nostalgia hitting me right now.

I've made my peace with how old this game is, but I can't get over that Psy is already 5 years old somehow.

BKRoo - 13,758,520 - ALL (ABC) - 1P - ShmupMAME 4.2

First 1cc ever. Was playing this a lot for years without any headway, the later stages have only recently "clicked" for me. I've got a recording, but I want to try and clear with the others, and also start using 2P side since I've recently been told it's objectively better for scoring. Was an awful, awful run, 2 deaths in Stage 5.1, went into final boss with only 1 itty bitty bomb and 2 extra lives. I did really well on the final boss on a few patterns I was rather worried about!

edit: played this at a meet on the weekend, then did some streaming again to see if I could improve my scores, I have some footage and screenshots to upload, will bump the thread when it's done, got scores for the 3 characters

Arcade - Irori
BKRoo - 15,792,030 - ALL - 1P - ShmupMAME 4.2

I forget the stage order for this. Was done live at a shmupmeet, had only 1P controls setup on the panel. I think I managed 6 health boxes remaining with 2 hearts left and 500 on the recharge meter, so a decent clear bonus apparently despite multiple deaths including one against Ms. Gaara's last or second last phase with full bombs.

The next two scores were from a stream session, would like to improve on them.

Arcade - Yusuke
BKRoo - 14,456,400 - ALL - 2P - ShmupMAME 4.2

Edit: After fumbling runs all week I got a new PB... that's hilariously just barely above my other runs. Alas, I'm awful at survival in this game. Gonna take a break from the game for now! I find Irori's stage is the toughest of the stages if it's stage 3 so I try to do it last.
