Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
Thanks for the links and review, I'm enjoying this game. Opened my copy yesterday. I love both games so it is a dream (I never had) come true. I was hooked after trying the demo on jpn psn.
The game also has a fair price. Loading is pretty quick too. Is there a 4p mode where the cpu controls players 2,3 and 4? That would be awesome.
Another question: Is it worth it to go back after completing a stage and try to get 3 stars on every stage in adventure mode?
Also, great music!

You're not quite right about Tetris Attack. It has a well defined point table up to 13x, and beyond that the arbitrary data is zeros. So a 14x becomes worthless. Same "reading past the array" type thing, but instead of finding treasure there's nothing at all.trap15 wrote:Panel de Pon and Tetris Attack each have their own "score-breaking" glitch.
Tetris Attack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iijyM6B5yc
Panel de Pon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfiDdbAvmHs
In Tetris Attack, hitting 13x will give you a large amount of points because it reads past the array that contains the score for the chains.
In Panel de Pon, hitting a 32-block combo will give a large amount of points because it reads past the array that contains the score for the block combos.
Same type of glitch, different activation method, both silly and really hard to do.
Now when you have a chain active, all simple matches outside the chain are worth just as much as the highest chain link. So the best players build up to 13x and then make a bunch of matches (which they call bonuses) right at the end of the chain during the brief moment the 13x chain link is matching/clearing.
Incidentally, the >13x bug exists in Panel de Pon as well, it's just that there was no reason to exploit 13x bonuses given the >32-block combo bug. The >32-block combo bug was fixed for Tetris Attack.

Kirby's Avalanche was also released for Wii, not counting JP releases. No map screen in that either, though.Special World wrote:Nah. As far as I know, Puyo Puyo 2 was the only Puyo game released for Wii. Fairly certain his Wii wasn't hacked.

Just found a Super Multitap at a local store for $10! Do any of you guys know of good games that use it? Basically all I can think of are Bomberman, Puyo Puyo, Secret of Mana, and Battle Cross (which looks pretty cool).
I was also wondering if it's worth getting any of the Bomberman sequels if I already have Super Bomberman. It seems like people think it's the best of the US released SNES Bombermans, but I don't know about 4 and 5.

You're welcome! As far as I know there's no mode like that. And I don't think there's a reward for earning 3 stars on everything, but let me know if you find out otherwise! All I'm going off of is a Gamefaqs topic where somebody complained they didn't get anything.D wrote:Thanks for the links and review, I'm enjoying this game. Opened my copy yesterday. I was surprised to find out that the Taisen Puzzle Dama mini game in Goemon 4 has 4 player support. I know NBA Jam TE and Saturday Night Slam Masters also use it. NBA Jam TE is good stuff. Bomberman GB (Bomberman GB2 in Japan) and Wario Blast (Bomberman GB in Japan) also use it via the Super Game Boy.

That link isn't working for me. But how is the Goemon 4 minigame? Any good? Getting gameboy Bombermans seems kinda redundant, although that is really cool.

Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
The correct link is up now. I liked the Goemon 4 minigame quite a bit myself. Similar to Puyo Puyo, but the garbage system is a bit different. For a mini game included with another game, it has a lot to it. It even has computer opponents. I heard the Taisen Puzzle Dama stand alone games play similar. I wouldn't say getting Bomberman GB/GB2 is redundant, at least for single player. It has mission based levels with a choice between two missions for levels. Stuff like destroying the correct enemy or destroying all enemies. I certainly wouldn't recommend it over the Super Bomberman games for multiplayer, but the game itself is worth picking up.Special World wrote:That link isn't working for me. Oh man, I'm just now realizing Puyo Puyo 2 Remix is playable 4player against the computer! That's really awesome but... is there any way to change their difficulty?

Super Tetris 3 has a 4 player mode. Not a bad game overall.Special World wrote:Just found a Super Multitap at a local store for $10! Do any of you guys know of good games that use it?

Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
I'll probably stick with Puyo Tetris for 4-player Tetris, since I'm not such a huge Tetris fan. Tetris Battle Gaiden I just want because it looks totally awesome.

Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
Honestly I think Puyo Puyo 2 Remix may be one of the most impressive SNES games of all time. This game is really, really slick. I can imagine this being one of my favorite games if I'd played it back in the day.

Taisen Puzzle Dama (used as a minigame in Goemon 4 SFC) is a poor man's imitation of Puyo Puyo. Since you only need to match three same-colored balls to clear them, it's much less refined, and other mechanics also contribute to making it quite easy to create huge chains by pure accident.
For what it's worth, there are Twinbee and Tokimeki Memorial-themed variants of the series.

Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
At least it's more palatable as a mini game than a full game, especially since the rest of Goemon 4 is good stuff. The "other mechanics" are similar to Super Puzzle Fighter II, but, if I remember correctly, only needing to make a match of the same color to remove the blocks.Pretas wrote:Taisen Puzzle Dama (used as a minigame in Goemon 4 SFC) is a poor man's imitation of Puyo Puyo. Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
Okay, questions about Puyo Puyo 2 Remix's menus, if anybody can translate or knows the game enough to help out. I understand if this is more trouble than it's worth, but I really would appreciate the help. And maybe I'll actually compile (no pun!) everything together at some point so it's readily available without a bunch of searching. I looked on Wikipedia and elsewhere for some info, but here's stuff that wasn't explained fully:
1. Rule Henka
According to Wiki, this should make certain garbage blocks appear? Doesn't seem to be doing anything for me.
2. Kata Lock

Wiki says something about no bonuses or special effects being applied? I have no idea what that means.
3. Keijou

4. Color Minuss

5. Watch

6. Battle Crush (this one I'm especially intrigued by)

7. Takai Mode
Not sure what makes this one different. It seems to just be a 2player versus mode. Maybe this is for people who want to play against the CPU but don't want to play adventure mode?
8. Versus Custom
There are a lot of custom options for versus mode... not really sure what these are. Thanks in advance for any help! Though if this is too much of a pain, I understand.

Re: Puyo Puyo Tetris translation
If I remember correctly, the special blocks in rule henka appear after a few levels, not right away. Also, my memory was iffy on taisen puzzle dama. I think making any match near the garbage blocks changes it to a regular piece of the same color, which can cause combos.

Ah, I see. So that's probably only for adventure mode, then.

I need to like... study on how to play Puyo Puyo. This game is intense as hell.
