Twin Peaks
All of the Star Trek shows (particularly TNG)
Pantera (before I found out Phil Anselmo is a racist asshole)
Jeans with giant legs - no ball busting skinny jeans for me

And most importantly, the naive optimism that often comes with being young.

Seriously, I can only buy EDM releases in digital format now but every fucking metal or singer/songwriter releases coloured vinyl albums? WTF?
LPs, to say nothing of 10" and 7" vinyl, have always been a prominent format for metal and punk. Difference now is that digital downloads are starting to supplant CDs for averagejoeeveryman while vinyl simply has no replacement and actually sells. With EDM the shift is probably because more DJs are using laptops instead of turntables and fans don't really care about the difference in sound.

Led Zeppelin, before I discovered they plagiarized the shit out of everything and never credited anyone, mostly cause Jimmy Page is an asshole. I do think they added a lot of their own style to the original works, but that doesn't mean you can shamelessly steal lyrics and riffs all over the damn place and not give any sort of credit on your album to the original artist, that's just being a dick.

I still love Led Zeppelin, even though I know about this stuff now.

I think the Rolling Stones also lifted a lot of material without crediting, but I could be mistaken.

Why do people keep saying rollerblades? Peep this for example. Still going hard!

I will echo the hiphop sentiment; not to say there isn't still amazing hiphop coming out now, it's just not the stuff you would hear on the radio, you have to look a lot harder.

I also miss 90's skate punk/melodic hardcore.

Also, raves.

Ya, but sadly I have almost gotten to the age where I feel a bit creepy ogling girls half my age. Not that I don't still find them attractive, but 'high school' girls are most definitely off limits for me at this point.

I thought long and hard about the thing I miss the most from the 90's. There were a lot of great things back then (and some bad) but I've narrowed it down. The thing I miss the most is playing DOS games on the basement computer with my dad, back when he was still alive. Some of the best times we had.

I miss videogame developers having to cleverly design around limitations. Back then I wished games could be more like movies, but I didn't realize then how boring that would make them. When FPS games came out, there were so many possibilities-- I liked watching every new game that came out introduce something new that we would eventually take for granted. Even the most rudimentary 3d tech was exciting. I liked all the clever work-arounds, and the fact that every 3d engine had to be so focused and not multipurpose.

One thing I miss, being involved with the tracker scene, was that the only way to get anything approaching 'real music' out of a computer was to write it well. It was fun to show people modules and have them remark, "Wow! This sounds like a CD! I didn't know you could do that with a computer!".. speaking of taking technology for granted :)

I also miss videogames being valued more. By that, I mean that there weren't a bunch of games you could just get for $5 a pop online. You brought home a CD or cart, and that is what you played for the next few months. Though maybe this is just a symptom of getting old :) I think the market wasn't as glutted though. Indie games are great, but stuff like those used to sell for full retail. I can't decide if this is better or worse!

Figures that everything I miss from the 90s is about tech :P

Only problem is that the 90's is when the limitation side-stepping started to cease. The 80's was where it was defined as an art.

May as well get used to it. You're genetically engineered to procreate, and wired to find women with child bearing characteristics attractive: characteristics which are predominant in youthfulness. Doesn't matter if you're 16 or 60, you can't fight nature. It's completely normal.

I sorta...missed it (thanks Scud Race!). And I admit 90's motorsport in general was pretty hardcore compared to today.

^ BTCC

Still have a few tapes my dad recorded for me as a kid :p
There's just something about it. As a kid I also thought it was really cool that a fellow countryman, Richard Rydell, performed so well.

AFAIK BTCC is still a thing and we've got STCC now here in Sweden, and there's all sorts of funky racing leagues all over the world, yet I'm struggling to keep interest.

I also miss Namco's funky arcade game music - but I would find out about that much, much later so I'm not sure it counts

Edit:
And car design in general.

Blah blah blah everyone's entire life and personality revolves around genes and instinct we're no different than animals blah blah easily debunked stuff that people like to believe in because we live in a world where people have lost all sense of meaning and spirit.

That's what I miss most. Being in an age where people genuinely believed there was more to life than "eat, fuck, die." Not this hyper-rationalism we have today.

In actuality, there is nothing else to life than "live, multiply" (which means "eat, fuck, sleep", essentially). That's all that anything naturally occurring has ever existed to accomplish.

Doesn't mean you have to agree or even follow, but then guess what: your genealogy goes extinct and your evolutionary line is gone.

What he meant was there were additional stuff to do apart from the basic "eat, fuck, sleep".
I see it more in terms of Apollonian and Dionysian divide. There was better balance. Not this consumerist crap. Everythings for sale, everything goes, but nothing to remember by.
