Nothing bad will happen if you ensure the inmigrants and their kids feel valued and respected. A recent poll here in Spain has showed that 80% of the inmigrant children that came here in the 90's (chinese, latinamericans, eastern europeans, arabs, black africans, etc.) feel they are at home here and almost the 100% have the same goals and aspirations as locals.

Of course, this was possible only by the good will of the majority of Spaniards and our goverments.

I hear this kind of complaint from a lot of the people at my work who live in the 'burbs as well. They say they moved there because it was 'safer'; what they really mean is 'whiter'.

Get over it, you live in a multicultural society. Or continue moving farther north to escape the 'invading hordes'.

I've been with my old lady for 7 years now. We'll likely get married eventually, maybe kids. Kids are a ton of work and fucking expensive, but on the other hand, I think it'd be great. My siblings all have children and with the exception of one little terror they're all pretty awesome little people. There's so much continuity between generations despite the age gaps as little weird habits and characteristics live on, and I think that's awesome. Johnny, I don't really care if people label me as racist. I've been called just every -ist there is, often by both sides of the debate. And the funny thing is, this has nothing to do with actual race. I want the blacks, browns, asians and arabs who were born or grew up here to be breeding just as much as the white folks. More people like Moh or Khoa in the world is not a bad thing.

But the fact of the matter is that the annual birth rate in Canada has been on a steady decline for quite some time, while immigration has continued to skyrocket. This is a problem because it means there are less people being born and growing up with Canadian culture, but a larger amount of imported cultures coming in. If the trend continues then Canadian culture fades away and other cultures eventually take precedence. Not unlike what we did to the natives. It's important that we be accepting and tolerant of other cultures, but it it's equally important that we work to preserve our own. Not to the level the French have taken, but to some level.

A fine example of this is an Indian friend I know who moved away from Brampton because he wanted his daughters to grow up Canadian and not Indian.

See, the problem here is that that doesn't happen in some communities. I specifically singled out Brampton because there are large immigrant communities that try hard to make sure their kids are raised to preserve the culture of their home country only and not adapt or get used to local culture. I've met 7 years olds that can't speak either official language and were born here.

If the Canadian goverment don't take measures to stop the formation of ghettos that is what happens. It's not the fa ult of the inmigrants. People from abroad, and that includes me, are evenly distributed among the national spanish territory. It's also significant that being one of the most punished countries by the european crisis we don't have any significant anti-foreigners organization or political party... Quite ironical considering other "more advanced" countries like France an the UK have then.

Once again, it's the local people and government that must help the inmigrants to feel some real love for the country.
