I bought a road bike this week: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 47#p799247

72 miles of MTB'ing would be brutal. I've done a couple 30+ mile rides, but they are usually pretty boring (fire roads).

I have another MTB race in Reno in two weeks. The distance is shorter than the previous race I did a couple weeks ago, but there is +2000' of climbing.
Really into racing right now, just need to get my endurance up so I can get a better pace. 1st lap of my last race was garbage, but I passed about 10 people on my second lap.

I did some nasty climbing yesterday up an old jeep trail, but lost my strava data. :( I really wanted to see the grade of the road.

I'm off to Tahoe and Oregon to train (and see Spiritualized)!

Been cherry-picking all afternoon with the wife, at the family Bed & Breakfast. We were joined by our clients, who were ecstatic to pick and eat fresh, juicy mountain cherries for free. We clocked at 31 kgs, and we did not even finish picking all the cherries from one of the three trees.

I called a friend/colleague who owns a B&B and a restaurant, so we had dinner there with a cherry cocktail party. The clients promised to give us stellar reviews on both our B&B's.

O. Van Bruce: do they suffer from Boars' overpopulation, in Murcia? Be careful to shoot at least three shots right in a Boar's front, a hurt Boar will certainly go berserk and ram you.

Went to the beach with my nephew and my parents.

And we ran. My nephew and I that is, my parents are too old for running. Stupid us didn't even expect to go to the beach, because we didn't bring swim clothes...

but now I am somewhat tan
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Off Topic: Does anyone else find their urge to play video games much stronger in the summer? I do. My working theory is that my video game filled childhood summers created an association that persists in my adult subconscious.

On topic: Particularly on the topic of road biking, I recently went on a 200 mile bicycle trip in western Michigan with 12 other dudes. 100 miles on Saturday, 100 miles on Sunday. Lots of beer in between. Most of it was on the White Pine Trail.

I think when the weather gets really stupid hot and humid, it's nice to take a break and relax on the couch with a vidya or two.

Nothing like digging into an epic RPG (like Xenoblade!) on a lazy Sunday afternoon while chilling on the couch in yer shorts with a frosty beverage :D

That's awesome. I'm looking to do 200+ mile ride this summer, but I'll have to ride on either US95 or I-80 and drivers scare the shit out of me.
What bike do you ride?

I DNF'd my race yesterday due to my crash. I need to tweak either my suspension or get some new tires. I also couldn't breathe at the beginning. Very mad at myself. Scrub ride. Going to ride the road bike really hard tonight.

I ride a custom fixed gear that I built from an old Miyata frame. Insert hipster jokes here. I saw your road bike GET. Nice purchase.

Are there any cycling groups in your area? Around here there are groups who organize a handful of "century" rides every year. This is nice because the routes are chosen with cyclists in mind, and since you are with a group, the road presence is such that it is hard for drivers to ignore.

That's a real shame man, at least you didn't hurt yourself too bad (I guess).

pics plz
Preferably with hipster filter.

I have foolishly brought a fixed bike to a place made entirely of short steep hills, and there's been a lot of slow grinds up and ridiculously fast cadences down. My legs are actually ok (I think because the descents loosen them up nicely) but I have been struggling to breathe a lot of the time.

There is a small group of people who ride. We've never done anything big though, just MTB on Wednesday nights and Roadbiking on Thursdays.

I just got some more money from work and I'm probably going to blow it on another bike.
Either a carbon road bike or a carbon hardtail MTB. $$$$$$

She's not much to look at (especially not after three seasons of use)... Just an everyday work horse. Sometimes when I'm climbing hills I think about buying a real bike, but I have a hard time justifying the expense by the time I reach the downhill. The cages are new... And I think I might hate them even more than I hate having to walk around in cleats when I arrive at my destination. Still deciding.

Yeah, you might not be impressing all the hipster girls but it looks like a nice practical/comfortable ride. Cages do suck though. I usually ride with MTB pedals and shoes - I have shoes that look like regular shoes and the cleats don't touch the floor. At the moment though I'm riding with road pedals/shoes everywhere and just carrying some lightweight shoes with me.
