Bit weird to drop 3GS, I mean if it handled DDP:R then there's no reason it can't handle DOJ surely?

Regarding Dodonpachi Maximum, I accidentally managed to stumble upon its Xbox360achiements-page.
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game ... ievements/

Notice how the stage- and 0miss-achiements are named.

"2008 Tokyo", "The city under assault", "Defensive Line", "Fortress" and "Divind road of Fate"
"ELEMENT DAUGHTER A . I", "Byakko", "Cinderella Amber", "Seiryu" and "Golden Disaster"

Either they are just call-backs, or actually bosses and stages.
Also, scoring achiements are also pretty interesting. 5000 hits is considered "chain-master", which might imply that there is no bullet-chaining mechanic around.
It also implies that the development is quite far.

Oh well, this is just speculation. I am not sure if this is even legit. Eh.

Per the @cavegames Twitter account, if I'm reading this right, it looks like DOJ is coming out on 2/9 - just under a week to go.

Can't wait? Looks like this game let's you relive Hibachi's early days.

Courtesy of a Famitsu article, you can find the original article link here: http://app.famitsu.com/20120203_28668/
The article mentions an introductory price like Mushihimesama, and the same difficulty level settings.
It mentions the iPad 2 at the bottom but not in the article context itself.

I'm assuming this is how you would see it looking at your phone screen and that the resolution of the art assets for the UI are in fact high resolution...

Heck yes, best one so far for these ports.

I wonder how many more of their IP's they've got in the back-burner for iOS this year.

EVAC is the evil twin brother of CAVE

CAVE
EVAC

Notice something?

It seems that EVAC is now the name of the team that actually develops shmups and not just does ports. At least that's what this blog seems to imply: http://ameblo.jp/cave-cs-stg-dev/

Evac being cave backwards was obvious. I had in my mind though that they were the team that created the merchandise or something.

I'm hearing the game has already hit the NZ store. Not sure what time it hit, but it should be hitting the remaining stores one by one around the same local time it hit NZ. If Ghost Trick was any indication, it will probably hit the US by 11pm eastern (8pm pacific).

Note the application is NOT universal like Bug Princess. I wonder if this is because iPad 1 support was dropped...

So far liking it! So far only game start and practice mode and I"m not seeing an option for a remixed soundtrack. There is a history mode with story and a few screenshots which is nice. Going to credit feed all the way through to see if something else unlocks on completion.

What? It's out in the US already, or do you live in nz, or is it possible to download from there somehow?

Looks like moving to 4th gen hardware and iPad 2 did them a world of good: it loads a crapload faster than Mushi does - virtually instantaneous - on my iPhone 4, and is very smooth.
Cleared Normal difficulty on first go - A-E, 139mil, Lx3, missed a bee medal in stage4 somewhere. Chaining will be a bastard, but then again, stocking 5 hypers for the big sections will be the way to go. Sitting 4th on GameCenter, behind Crimzon Clover WR holder KTR, lmao.

EDIT: Second go, 153mil ALL (Lx4), died once running up to st5 boss. Leapfrogged KTR and into #3 for the time being, lol. What are the loop requirements, again?

1st go, 1cc 87 mil, 3x lives in stock. I'm 18th out of 214 entries, which makes me smile.

It's the best thing evar. Love it.

I see what you mean about chaining being a bit fiddly. Sometimes it makes it easier, sometimes tougher, I managed to patch some chaining spots together but I didn't get a whole stage yet. Where are you stocking and using your hypers (apart from the end of stg2?)

Lx 4 should have looped it based on number of deaths.

Stage 2 tank corridor. Beginning of Stage 4. Keep a hyper for the hyper generation trick on st4 boss, then use whatever I get on Stage 5.
Having the immensely fun stage5 to practice on the go, is heavenly, by the way.

Must be a loop on Hard or Hell, then. Will investigate later.

I'm assuming it's the same as the arcade version. Though I don't play the iOS games.

- Deaths is Less than 2
- Less than 3 bombs used
- Get the *2 bee in 3 stages or more (ie. you can't die between collecting them)

Any of those should be getting you into the loop for a 1cc.

Shows I don't watch enough superplays, didn't even know about that one.

Just had a go on hard. It's not that difficulty actually, although I blew it on Koryu.

Just downloaded and played DDP:DOJ on my phone. Gamecenter Leaderboards and Achievements are not working for me.

Game plays fine. Definitely feels older than the other iOS ports. Haven't played my PS2 copy of DOJ in a while, but I thought the bullets looked different.

I live in New Zealand, played it when it came out at midnight for a bit. It's still pretty hard, and even harder to chain. I guess the chaining difficulty was expected, or maybe it's just me. I find it hard to turn the shot on and off and keep my ship where I want it.

The port looks nice though.. and there's an option to turn off slow-doooown.. O-o

As for the loop, I think you have to play it on Hard or Higher to get in to the 1CC loop.
On Novice and Normal it didn't loop for me, I played a bit of Hard & Hell but didn't bother past the second stage and went to bed.
