I forgot that I bought the physical Gundemonium Collection back when it was released alongside the PSN versions. I don't think I even opened it...

IIRC, they barely broken even.

I used to complain about this, then I remembered something about how gaming economy works.

If I buy a console game for $60 at launch, I can almost guarantee I will in the end I will never get more than $20 out of it if/when I sell it. The net loss is $40 or more, but I give as much support to the developer as possible

If I buy a physical PSP game for $20 I'll be lucky to get $5 or $10 out of it when I sell it. If I buy a digital version for the same price I get faster load times and no UMD switching. If the digital version costs too much I just wait to buy it since I have literally dozens of other unfinished games.

If I buy a game on Steam for five fucking dollars I still support the developer a little bit and never get that five dollars back. In my examples above I'm losing more on the physical releases except with the PSP; with the PSP I gain a few distinct advantages that, to me, are worth the price.

So, really, every video game purchase is a few dollars lost. Steam isn't all that bad, just so long as you don't get banned for some stupid reason. If it's the only platform on which a game is available, you either support the dev or you don't.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Can anyone explain what this other one is?
It's the very first game: eXceed - Gun Bullet Children.

We'd wanted to localize this one too, but Tennen-sozai doesn't have the uncompiled code any more. We proposed to Capcom that we publish the game as an 'import' (i.e. the original Japanese) version. The issue was that the ESRB might not approve publishing a game in Japanese, but after some months of discussion they finally approved it.
While this news is definitely awesome, why does Capcom has anything to do with this? Also, as far as I read in the internet and watched the gameplay vidoes, eXceed games are voiced and in case of eXceed 3rd, famous seiyuus (and singers). Would the voices kept intact? Fighting Fairy is voiced too but that could be easier to be dealt with.

Regarding digital distro:
Of course there are positive examples too, like http://www.gog.com

For me it's not so much about the amount of money lost, it's about being deprived of your basic rights (first sale doctrine mainly).

Give me a legal way to transfer ownership of digital goods (and make them DRM-free) and I won't complain any more.

Our publishing deal with Capcom covers all of our announced releases & eXceed GBC was part of that based on the initial assumption that releasing an import version wouldn't be an issue. (If that answers your question?)

Yes, the original voice acting is intact and all text in English.

I picked up Satazius (that boss rush is rocking my face off) 8)

I don't see any release dates for the other ones on the website, I take it nothing has been announced yet besides "coming soon"?

I see. It's a good thing, especially when the selling point of eXceed 3rd in the original Japanese version focuses on big name seiyuus (Yukari Tamura, Nana Mizuki and Shizuka Ito among others) voicing the characters. Some people would definitely displeased when the voices are replaced or worse, removed.
There's no standards in shmups. Only what most people prefers.
Euroshmups are inferior, but not all of them sucks.
Jap shmups are superior, but not all of them great.

Will the Exceed Collection support leaderboards and Steam Achievements?

Will definitely still get regardless, but it'd definitely be nice to have those features.(well assuming there's no crappy DRM)

Sorry, no.

Re: DRM, we're anticipating the same situation as Satazius for Steam, which was actually very positively received. (Meaning the actual DRM situation, not that mistaken announcement about SecuROM being on there.)

If this means no SecuROM on the Steam version, that's the one I'll get. Steam's Satazius didn't have DRM of any sort IINM.
GamersGate has the Exceed Collection listed right now, but they use SecuROM (could this be GG's decision?).
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I forget...is it better to buy through Steam or directly from a developer's site (as Wizorb is)? Or...why is Steam so great again?
