Are you sure about that , I have only seen new style boxes and the Kit picture on CAVE-STG also shows this .
Maybe they used both like Ibara ?
I believe Mushi & Ibara both had new & old style boxes...depending on when you got them.

What happened to Donpachi and Dodonpachi by the way? Not sure if they were released as kits but they definitely have art, marquee, manual... poster?
Cave did release such DP & DDP PCB kits but I, personally, haven't seen such an uber-rare USA region complete DP PCB conversion kit ever (considering that it was Atlus USA whom handled the distribution of USA region DP conversion kits in the first place back in 1995). It was commonplace for arcade operators to discard such trivial leftovers (such as the outer factory PCB box + instruction strip, dipswitch sheet after it's intial run in the arcades) back in those days as it wasn't needed after intial shipment/recieving such kits. Nowdays, one would be lucky enough to score such a barebones USA region DP PCB with a full-sized marquee included if at all.

Yeah, it'd be cool to see such an original DP or DDP factory PCB box JPEG indeed.

That would make sense. Mine has an old style and was purchased NOS. I just assumed they were all like that as it came out before Ibara.

Getting into the hobby, I knew the cost of the games.

I'm well prepared to spend my set amount on a single game - I know I'm not going to sit and wait for a Mushi Futari to drop to $200.

I'm comfortable enough that I can spend pretty much whatever I want and be cool with it.

#RubberBandBanks

Now with art and posters - thats entirely different.

$20 for a poster, sure.

I'm not going to collect stuff that was thrown out by arcade operators after the game quit making money.

Original artwork, sure - not this stuff.

Hey, just my opinion.

That I'm with other likeminded collectors that Cave's reprint practices are just a little on the gay side is my opinion, and I'm entitled to it (and will defend it.) But I'm not crying over it. It's a double edged sword, on one hand it's poor practice to undermine a dedicated fanbase, on the other I've relied on reprints to fill in the gaps where I've needed them. Sven and Pang suffered a lot more than I ever did.

I don't give a shit if people read too much into the coarse language, or somehow perceive it as more than the simple poke in the ribs it's meant to be. My thread, my header.

Lol, get a load of this joker! :)

I've got no interest in manipulating prices like you, I don't spend 75% of my time in the trading station leaping into any thread with a Cave board to make sure I place my stamp on its value. The only reason I question your judgement is based on your questionable fabrications. This entire thread is born of your $150 evaluation of a reprinted artset and tatty box, isn't it? And to think I had the good grace to mention that to you in private before someone else mentioned it in public...

If something turned up that represents a good price (like Pointman's gear) I've fairly noted it because the seller deserves a nod. I don't have any personal affiliation with them, unlike you who posts in all your mate's thread to tell everyone what a swell guy they are and how they should buy their stuff. You turn up in every single Cave thread like some kind of plague, making sure Dodonpachi stays nice and high and all the stuff you traded in for your 360 junk stays real low, while having no problem shitting on people like msadda's sales! Nice work.
So, now when you go into a thread and see a $900 Futari loose board for sale.

LOL whut? :|
Don't be a dick and start making shit up. You're talking about a response I made to Monouchi's cheap Espgaluda II kit not a $900 Futari board. Or are you talking about Pointman's £150 Dangun board (which incidentally, everyone including you agreed was "Cave bargain week".)

In fact you alone artificially pushed the price of Donpachi and Dodonpachi PCB's up on this forum by 25% in record time. Round of applause.

Can't believe you'd walk into such a rake. Would you like me to copy/paste all the examples of your value manipulating? It's real easy, I just go to your profile and check out your post history. All in the Trading Station of course, so not hard to find.

I'd walk away if I was you. Half the forum has been waiting for someone to ask you to buzz off, so now's as good a time as any. There's a real out-of-date MVS price guide over on NG.com that needs some attention, why not attend to that?

There was a time when a mint DOJ black label poster was worth around $1000. Once the reprints came out, those posters became next to worthless. On the one hand I think it is great that cave is making things available that people want. From a collector's viewpoint it is kind of lame. You can buy something one day for a lot of money only to have its value drop dramatically when a reprint is offered.

I agree its good these things are more widely available without the collector price tag, but at the same time see this as Cave completely ignoring their obsessive fan base. They could have easily reprinted with some indicator or marking that they were reprints, thus maintaining the collector value of the originals, while pleasing new fans.

I use the term "collector" here to refer to the few people who actually play the games enough to warrant the high prices on these extra bits, not the "flippers" we commonly see on the sales forums who call themselves collectors but buy with the only intention of selling for profit. Those people can fuck off and die for all I care, but such is life in a free open market.

Well, anything pre-SH3 (in art terms) is pretty darn scarce, although an Espgaluda artset won't set you back as much as a Donpachi.

It's like GP said, it just depends on how readily available they are. Even reprinted stuff isn't super easy to get hold of, some of it only got one extra run.

Oh well, I was $50 off on the price of an artset, is that a huge deal for you? I gave you my reasoning behind it. You think I was trying to manipulate a box and artset I don't even own?

If you have a real problem with that, come at me. Don't cry about it. What problem is there in assuring a potential buyer that someone is a good seller?

You turn up in every single Cave thread like some kind of plague, making sure Dodonpachi stays nice and high and all the stuff you traded in for your 360 junk stays real low, while having no problem shitting on people like msadda's sales! Nice work.
Give me an example of what I want to stay "real low". Chances are I own it. You think I'm sitting on one board?

LOL whut? :|

Wow, jumpy? That was an exaggerated example I used. Its funny to find you searching through your posts to see if you made any mistakes though.
In fact you alone artificially pushed the price of Donpachi and Dodonpachi PCB's up on this forum by 25% in record time. Round of applause.
So you're saying I have the power to do this? Because I pointed out that 3 DoDonPachi PCB's sold for above $400 when someone asked how much they were worth?
Can't believe you'd walk into such a rake. Would you like me to copy/paste all the examples of your value manipulating? It's real easy, I just go to your profile and check out your post history. All in the Trading Station of course, so not hard to find.
Go ahead, you casn add a PCB price guide to your "art reference guide"

More than half? So in your words, like 60%? 55%? 52%? Which is it Tom?!? You really think I'm going to "buzz off" because of some crybaby shit you're spewing? Oh, and Mmsadda runs the MVS Guide, lol. has run it for 2 years now.

I think this is the correct perspective today. We have to assume that what can be reprinted will be reprinted. To think otherwise today (and for at least the past year+) is foolish.

Pay a premium for the peace of mind that you know you have an original, if you care... Pay a premium to enjoy it now.. But don't pay a premium and expect items to hold value. I think the most curious concept at play here is how large the obsessive fanbase really is. Obviously the arcade hobby itself is a niche, and shooting games are a subset of that. Drill down to people that will pay big money to collect all the original bits for games they love has to be very small.

Edit: I do think GP is right though, as for the most part the art isn't reprinted for Matsuri events often enough to make it worhless. More often than not you need to snag it when it's first available or it becomes tough to find. Sure it will pop on YAJ for 8,000 yen but who wants to pay that?

The DOJ BL poster was the real (first?) kicker. I think out of all the repro stuff, that one was instant pain for a lot of folks as they were trading for up to $1k on YHJ. I do wonder what was going through Cave's mind when they rolled that out at the Matsuri.

I paid £130 for mine I think, still got it, still love it the same.

No, you started it by accusing me of being a price manipulator, which is cocking ridiculous considering the length and breadth of your trading station activities.

Out of 1253 posts:

913 posts: Trading Station
93 posts in your own thread.

That's 820 posts in other people's sales threads, giving other people the lowdown on everything to do with PCB values. Which school did you graduate from, can we see a certificate?
There is no expert in valuations, no much how YHJ perching you do, and half the stuff you come out with seems totally made up on the fly, which is real fucked up.
The price is going to drop.

Plain and simple.

No need to explain it.
And for a JP Xbox 360... funnily enough:
Man... Someone needs to buy this asap.

Fuck that's cheap.

Tons of good shit for sale.
Looks like DFK BL finally took that price plummet. Next up, Akai Katana.
Your prices are too high, hence them sitting unsold.
Problem is that the market was flooded with Batrider kits not too long ago, so they are not as rare as most think.

Just like the recent onslaught of Garegga kits.

Not uncommon by any means.
NEWSFLASH: Garegga and Batrider kits flooding the market! Prices falling! No longer rare by any means!

I don't need to get to the Dodonpachi fiasco or we'll be here all night.

Can't you see that all this input is unnecessary? This isn't Yahoo Japan, people don't trade on forums to get assraped to the tune of the latest Japanese Donpachi auction. Your input is overbearing and far too impartial.
As I mentioned before, if some dude turns up with the latest matsuri repros knocking them out at 100 Euro a piece, feel free to give him a kicking. And if someone like Pointman is shooting off bargains, give the community a heads up.

Otherwise, leave the damn Trading Station alone. It's not your stomping ground, it doesn't need policing or worse, influencing.

Also, please quit saying "half of this forum" and "people aren't dumb" - you're the only one complaining.
Believe me, I ain't.
