I don't think the timing matters much for this sort of release. We'll buy it no matter what, amirite?

We will but timing is important if the game wants to pull in half decent sales figures. The only reason Aksys, DS was covered in so many mainstream websites was due to it been a quiet time for the industry and nothing else to review that week.

Looking at that price on that amazon page Ild guess its gonna be more than a barebones BL, unless this is another one of Caves experiments and a rather dumb one at that

Yeah, I'll buy it but like TrevHead already mentioned...for a disc release a couple of hardcore fans are not enough. Publishers have to realize that it's not only about money but also about time. If you're busy with another game why not simply wait, price will drop anyway.

You have a good point. In fact I've made rougly the same point about DS myself, so I take back what I said above. :)

I hope CAVE doesnt screw around with this version and fiddle with the gameplay and slowdowns.

RSG probably wouldn't let them, they were the ones that got them to change ds' slowdown back to how it was when they released it. My main concern is what modes are available, hopefully its 1.5+bl+bl arrange.

I'm not certain, but to my knowledge RSG had no say in the development of the EU version of DS - Cave did all the programming themselves (as with the Aksys release) and I believe reinserting the slowdown was a response to the massive fan requests. As far as I recall, RSG weren't really sure what the slowdown would be like in their release when people asked them on their forum before it came out, but Cave would go on to confirm that the slowdown would be reinstated.

Oh man can't wait for thursday! If they end up announcing DFK it'll be the most awesome announce ever made. RSG has become one of my favorite publishers ever and I'll be so damn happy if the rumours are true.

I'm sort of afraid they'll end up announcing DFK 1.5 and forget about BL/Ketsuipachi.
But even if they do, they still deserve support.

If RSG is going to announce anything without at least one Cave shooter in the mix they'd be killing themselves, considering all the teasing they've done. But with employees turning down everything OTHER than Cave shooters, representatives on this forum, and that latest Facebook update, it is obvious where this is going...

Well, they kind of announced it a couple of minutes ago on Facebook here.

As soon as they announce something more useful, I can finally start talking!

And here's the proper annoucement/press release!

Now I can finally admit I've known about this for bloody ages and had to keep it secret from you all! I'm a terrible human and a liar. I did a little bit of 'consulting' on the PAL release of DFK for RSG, and I might even have my first ever credit in a Cave game (RSG told me they'd do their best)! Not sure if that means in the manual or in the game, but I'm excited!

And boy does it feel good to finally be able to talk about it!

Yeha, Resurrection is a sensible translation of Dai-Fukkatsu that will probably help the sales numbers a little. :)

I hope Cave do like DeathSmiles, and bundle all the game modes into a single disc.
EDIT: Spadgy - did you make sure the above happens? :P
EDIT2: Nevermind, just read the full news, BL Arrange is available as DLC.
EDIT3: Actually, it's not too clear on it... In the description it says three game modes on the disc, and BL Arrange as DLC, while the features list says "Revered Black Label mode and enhanced Version 1.51 will be available as paid for DLC"

I wonder if the Japanese BL DLC will work on the PAL release too? I guess not since it'd be too nice, and I can't imagine many people have that DLC on PAL consoles :|

Hi all,

About the DLC:

1.51 will be DLC as we could not include it in the box. I was asked if it would be free, as it was in Japan on the first run. We're talking with MS about this - if there must be a charge, it will be the lowest possible.

Black Label will be DLC - again, we could not include it in the box.

Both available on day of release.

Thanks for your support and interest!

Hi Torisu, and thanks a lot again :) Just to clarify, there are two BL modes on the Japanese box release, Black Label itself and Black Label Arrange (which was heavily based on Ketsui)... people were asking about the latter, but given that it wasn't included in the Japanese DLC and only available as a pricey retail, well...

(1.51 isn't stellar though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that one :P)

I really hope Black Label Arrange will be available as DLC :o

I'm interested in the game for that mode alone, but will support RSG regardless. Also, I hear regular Black Label is a lot better than arcade/1.5, so it's definitely being bought as well.

Hi there

It will be Black Label on day of release, not Black Label Arrange.

Thank you

Thanks for clearing that up :) I'm not interested in BL Arrange myself, though I find it funny how you keep saying "on day of release" for BL... is that a hint at future plans or am I reading too much into it, I wonder :P

Sumez, it's really comparing apples to oranges, 1.5 is a classical DDP chaining game that's very demanding for high scores and only challenging for survival in the loops (I shudder to think of playing this game for score without autobombs to save your bacon), but BL is pretty tough to survive in and involves bullet herding/milking and no chaining. They're pretty much polar opposites really!

Well long story short, I was never a fan of DDP style chaining.

DDP DFK Black Label Arrange is really the Cave X360 game I wanted the most besides DeathSmiles, but I guess I gotta hijack a friend's Jap 360 to play that. :)
