I just bought a gamecube.
Well if you loved Sega's classic Virtua ON! then I would sugest getting Gothca Force for the gamecube. It's basicly a majorly revamped verison of VO but with 200 or so characters/gotcha borgs and a level up system and it can be played 4 player.
Other games I would sugest getting are Resedent Evil 4, the metroid prime games and ikagura(?) and perhaps if you have firends that come around offen the Warioware game on Gamecube.

Metroid II was too easy to get lost in, alot of rooms looked identical, plus the ambient music drove me nuts.sethsez wrote:I actually forgot the map was even there. Then again, I never use maps in Metroid games... the first one I ever completed was part II, so I probably just got used to feeling my way around and never felt the need for a map.
I use the map when I'm looking for places I've not been to yet.
I hope you play with the hint system off.

Crystal Chronicles gets better with how much time you invest,
but having 2 other people to play with is pretty much neccessary.
Getting new weapons is annoying as you need to find the materials for them, find a smithy with a high enough level, and still pay gold...which can easily be grabed by your 'friends' a-la Diablo 2.
let's not forget the BS that Nintendo and Square pulled on us

But if you have a GBA, a link cable, and 2 friends with GBAs and link cables
it's still fun.
But single player is useless unless you just want to beef up your character.

Metroid Prime looks really good.
Basically, the gamecube was an impulse buy. Metroid Prime seems really cheap, also. Right now it's a crossup between Metroid Prime and Zelda's "Collection" promotional disc. I'm more than likely going to get myself a Freeloader and FF:CC first, Then, in the next two and three weeks - Shikigami and either Metroid or Zelda.
I'm in way over my head.

Interesting. Maybe I should try some shmups on my DC, and see how that analog stick works with shmups. I don't have any shmups for my DC partly because I've been waiting to get a joystick or a Saturn-DC controller converter.Rob wrote:Other systems. But seriously, analog stick for all 2D games. Works surprisingly well.dave4shmups wrote:I'm curious as to what Game Cube owners on this site use to play shmups,
I liked Mario Sunshine a lot more then 64-the controls are definately tougher to pick up, but at least you've got some enemies to work with; I was sorely dissapointed in the relative dearth of enemies in the stages in 64, compared to earlier Mario games. At least in Sunshine when there's no enemies, there's always that slop to clean up!
Well, Crystal Chronicles is garbage. I'm not sure if I want to refund my gamecube and have the money instead.
The person who was getting Zelda's Collection is overpricing, and the only other thing I'd be interested in right now is Shikigami no Shiro II with the cat figurine. Really, not sure what to do here.
I like Shiki, but I already have a copy on dreamcast. As most people do. Unless the Shiki on gamecube is different.. is it?

Isn't the Gamecube considered a failure?

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Well, yeah. It was a throwaway gimmick game. Nobody really considers it a reason to own the system.Elixir wrote:Well, Crystal Chronicles is garbage.
Try out Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4 and Wind Waker before you return it. Especially the first two.I'm not sure if I want to refund my gamecube and have the money instead.
wtf?sethsez wrote: Really, if you want a good RPG system, the Gamecube isn't a good choice. I consider it the Metroid Prime system, to be honest.Everything else is a bonus.
are you on drugs or what?the metroid prime system?
ever heard of those games(RPGs)?:
Tales of Symphonia
Lost Kingdom 1
Lost Kingdom 2
Baten Kaitos
Skies of Arcadia Legend
Gladius
Summoner - A goddess reborn
Paper Mario 2
all amazing RPGs.
and stop that stupid "Gamecube has just Metroid Prime" cause it has some of the best games avaiable.
would be the same if I say something like "Xbox is the Halo-system" or the "PC for poor dorks" or the "99,9% FPS and 0,1% good games-system"
bah!

on-topic: make sure you look out for:
Eternal Darkness
REmake
Zelda Collectors Edition
Zelda Four Swords Adventure (2D and great)
Star Wars Rebel Strike
Serious Sam the next encounter
Mario Kart Double Dash (best multiplayer game this gen)
F-Zero GX
Alien Hominid
Wave Race Blue Storm
1080°
Mario Sunshine
Luigis Mansion
Megaman Network Transmission
and
and
and
....
too many good games
War is in my Heart -- Death is by my Side
You really didn't have to waste your time typing all of that. And I wouldn't say Luigi's Mansion is a good game. Paper Mario captured my interest long ago, but that still doesn't matteer.
Chances are, I'll be returning it. The type of RPGs I enjoy are mostly from Nippon Ichi, and owning an entire console just for one/two shooting games is a pretty dumb idea.

And the only RPG on that list that's worth a damn is Paper Mario 2. SoA is available on the Dreamcast and the rest are mediocre releases that don't live up to the RPGs released on the PS2 or Xbox.
And if someone said Xbox was the Halo system, why would I give a shit? Some people bought it primarily for Halo. For them, sure, it's the Halo system.
I've bolded the games that either suck, or are available in similar form on other systems.Eternal Darkness

Well, this gamecube has a "seven day guaranteed refund" on it. It's 11 am, and it ends today. Though the owner of the store personally has a grudge against me because I seriously complained about them not having sealed games, so there's always the possibility that I'll end up coming home still owning this thing.
149.95 NZD = 101.098 USD. This is what was paid for it. Games are roughly $50-110 NZD, which is ridiculous. I have a "friend" who can provide the $90-110(90.00 NZD = 60.6930 USD) dollar range of games(this includes Metroid Prime 2, for example) for around $60-70 NZD.
There's a little "deal" that he's offered to me, which is $99.95 for Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2, but I declined as unsure, because the only game I own is Super Metroid. That's the only experience with metroid I've had relating to the metroid scene.
After getting a game, whichever it may be, the expense of a memory card and a freeloader will come. So this means, without a freeloader, I'll have a game that won't be played. Once the freeloader is purchased, it's still useless as I won't have a memory card. If all of this could be purchased in one burst, it wouldn't be a problem, though this isn't realistic.
Possibly two memory cards as saving japanese games next to american games on one memory card doesn't work out. It's alot of money tied up for what it is.

You have to be pretty affluent to afford a decent PC though, so PC dorks aren't usually "poor".zubiac wrote:...the "PC for poor dorks"...
As for SSMM, I can't believe that there are people out there who garner any kind of enjoyment from this game.
