Another shmupmeet done!

Thanks again to the SoCal crew for making another long roadtrip (Frenetic, AKRATEN, and Dan), and draging along newcomers Gunbu and danox574! Gunbu and Frenetic had a great rivalry going on with Strahl. Dan dominated Joust, setting hefty highscore I'll have to try beating.

Was also nice to meet a few fresh faces this time around, Dunpeal2064 (w/Lisa), kyuzo, and hedorah.

Thanks to Aru-San for livestreaming the event, next time we will be more prepared with drivers for the quickcam.

gs68 rocked Ketsupatchi, and Kitaru racked up some major achievements on Tetris Grand Master 3 for the TypeX.

BER got his first 1CC on Ketsui (PCB), and also rocked pretty much all the 360 port arrange modes. :D

Thanks to antron for reviving our post lunch shmupping by bringing his jamma-genny, and spare xb360!

And thanks to the regulars Mikhail, Ish, Alec, IlMrm, louisg, and Zach for keeping things lively as usual.

bitkid was the only MIA, so hope everything is ok.

I tweeted a bunch of pics from my iphone, which you can find on my yfrog stream.

Not quite, haha. To be honest, today was a poor day for Tetris; my scores were strictly lower across all modes. I was much happier with my improvements in Ketsui and Robotron. :)

Thanks again! I had a great time hanging out with everyone and playing games. :D

Things I remember fondly of the shmupmeet:

- lol Raizing corner AAAAAAAAA
- lol security camera mode again :(
- *#@% YOU GS68 AND YOUR TROLLING ON STRAHL
- Fuse explosion. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY KETSUPACHI GAME, TOO.
(o hai arcade game talk and stuff)
- 13 million something on Ketsui. Still stuck at Level 2.
- ROFL fruit milking on Hacha Mecha Fighter (at 10K per fruit).
- AAAAA AQUA RUSH GET HYPE
- Pink Sweets, lol inevitable rank manageme--waaait...arrange mode...hey, how do I play this? "Oh, you just use your bomb to rack up your multiplier." Sure, I'll give it a go...(2 games later) AAAAA PINK SWEETS ARRANGE LOOKS AWESOME I WUNA BUY IT >=O
(o hai music industry and going indie talk and stuff)

In other news, videos to come soon on YouTube. All 4 of them (and maybe more, if I feel like exporting my old school camera footage to the comp).

Dave_K. and Nina: I remember people asking me at the first meet me and the crew had driven up to from So Cal.

"Wow, you drove up all the way here? And are gonna drive back tonight?"

We did it again, and it was totally worth it. Dave_K. and Nina were ever the gracious hosts. Hats off to Nina, really missed that guacamole dip and the conversation, especially about coordinating a friend's wedding. Great advice. We showed up at 10 am and it was solid playing all day. Awesome to seeing the 8ing/Raizing corner--Battle Bakraid (dang that 1cc was kinda close!) and Armed Police Batrider. Also awesome to be able to play the Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork AND DFK Black ports on candy cabs. I loved playing Strahl and really trying to take Gunbu's score, I had a little rally towards the end but unfortunately not enough. The joy was in the friendly competition though! I've been playing some UPL shmups on MAME, good stuff. Hacha Mecha Fighter was definitely different and cool to see. Love those cute'em ups. Tetris the Grandmaster 3/Aqua Rush/Joust/Robotron/Stargate cool to see all those other games.

Dave_K. - Again, really thank you for having these meets. Hope you'll be in So. Cal one of these days and we can show you some of our hospitality.

Aru-San - For livestreaming the shmupmeet and posting YouTube with great commentary.

gs68 - Nice meeting you and I hope your shmup panel goes over at Fanime.

BER - Guy is a gentleman and great player. I love his guides and it is sick to watch him play.

IlMrm - Cool seeing you again and thanks so much for your tips. Great Psikyo player.

Kiselgof - Nice running into you man.

segasonicfan - Dang all you "fan" guys look alike. J/k. Cool seeing you rock the Sega titles especially Twinkle Tale.

louisg - Nice meeting you again.

dunpeal2064 - Awesome you came up from Modesto. That's the way to do it!

antron - Thanks for being the jamma Genesis, it was cool to see those games. My eyes have been opened!

hedorah - Thanks for the talk about Blast Citys.

Last but not least, thanks to my buddies who made the ride up - AKRATEN, danox574, Gunbu, and Dan

You're not the only one. I've been stuck on weekends at my job for a while now and it kills me to see what I'm missing. Any chance of an Akai Katana release meet in May?

J-Manic, you have no excuse.

I believe Antron may host the next one. It gets too hot in my garage for any meets during the summer, so sometime in the fall will be my next one.

Dave, the only excuse worthy of making is school and having to share my car with my mom and gf almost everyday. Sucks! :/
