For those of you that were interested in the RSG Hori stick, NCS has some bad news:
NCS wrote:Hori has decided not to produce the Radiant Silvergun Real Arcade Pro Joystick due to lack of interest. They'll probably re-open preorder solicitations in a couple of months for another sales attempt but as of last night, the project is dead. Blame the Japanese economy.

That's a shame. It was a pretty nice looking stick.

I'm surprised there isn't more groundswell around this game. You'd think there would be at least a little bit of a buzz, but we still don't even know when the game comes out, right?

New info! The XBLA version will keep the cutscenes from the Saturn version. It will also have upgraded graphics, replay sharing and cooperative play.

Oh god I'm so excited that it's actually coming out.

I don't care if the port quality is messed up or the scanlines are the wrong direction, I just want to play this goddamn it.

It definitely looks more fun than Ikaruga. But I'll have to wait until I can play it to see.

Do we have a release date yet?

After watching a preview, I am really liking the graphical enhancements. It's very subtle, but you can tell it's there. Still wish there was a known release date though!

It's TONS of fun. Personally I like Ikaruga equally, but I'll give RSG, it doesn't have most of the things that annoys those who dislike Ikaruga.
Though if you expect a game based mostly on an intuitive scoring system and fast paced Cave style bullet dodging, this still isn't the game to go to, I think RSG, like Ikaruga, does have a very puzzle-ish play style which requires you to tackle each boss fight (yeah it's pretty much one big boss rush, like you'd expect from Treasure) in a different way, and the different weapon types, that are all useful in different situations, add some badass Axelay to the formula as well.

Almost two months, Bangai O released, Guardian Heroes announced and still no news about a release date for Radiant Silvergun.
Am I the only one to get worried ?

We'll see RSG late Summer IMO, together with some other big titles forming part of Microsoft's annual "Summer of Arcade" promotion. I don't think we'll see GH until either the end of the year or early next year.

That's a good guess. Fingers crossed. I'm still surprised at how there has been nothing said about this in months. Though Bangaioh just sort of showed up on the market place, so who knows.

So, since they have avatar crap with RS ready, they must have a release date somewhere??

Not nearly difficult enough to obtain IMO. They could have at least made it a bit of a challenge. I'm actually amazed that Cave aren't already milking this particular revenue stream. Surely it's only a matter of time.

Looking at the achievements, it looks like this will have both modes from the Saturn version.

Yeah. It was already confirmed to have the anime cutscenes, so Saturn mode is in for sure. And arcade mode is x10 better, so it would have been a shame to not include it.

Can't wait for this game. It's got to be getting close now.

Looks like the stick will be back up for pre-order soon on Play-Asia. Maybe it'll actually see the light of day this time?

Uhhhhh, I can't find anything on Hori's website suggesting they're trying the RSG thing again. Looks like the news item of the day over there is really for iPad 2 screen protectors.

Since I see "coop" on the list of features for the 360 port, has anyone played much Radiant Silvergun 2-player? I keep thinking that players would just screw up each other's chains, making it impossible to do any damage to the later bosses.

Yeah, RSG in arcade doesn't really work well as a 2player game. I'm sure though they'll let you do 2player in story mode, where you can load in your saved weapon levels. If both players start already maxed out, that eliminates most of the problem.

So everyones assuming that Story Mode = Saturn Mode (just saying that it includes the cinemas doesn't really cement anything)? So what happened to the Ikaruga Mode that Treasure were discussing? Hidden unlockable?

I'm betting that the so called Ikaruga mode is just a reference to the colour chaining. It seemed like the tiny part in the video where it was mentioned had nothing different, it just showed chaining. It's secret when you do it in a certain order, shh.. don't tell anybody.

One would assume that if they've chosen to call it Ikaruga Mode then it would allow players to chain all or most enemies in a stage so long as they're killed in sets of 3 per matching colour... instead of the original system where a player is either chaining red or performing a secret chain to chain yellow (and thus ignoring everything else in the level).

Arcade and Saturn modes confirmed, as is a 1200MSP price point: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/0 ... o_details/

Not long till E3 now, which is where I reckon we'll get a date announced.

Half Minute Hero for XBLA! Awesome!

I had hoped RS would be cheaper, but 1200msp is still a bit cheaper than the $1000000000000 (approx.) the Saturn version used to cost.

I've split the discussion about pricing and marketing and such into its own thread.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Looks like it's had a good amount of effort put into the visual overhaul...

New features for the XLA version include:

* Two player cooperative play via Xbox Live.
* Online score rankings.
* Upload and download player data. This will let you watch high quality play from around the world.
* Greatly improved visuals. You can also play using the original graphics, though.
* As a hidden bonus, an Ikaruga shooting style mode.

Might as well link the source, I keep forgetting where to dump info here.

Also, the official site went live:

1200 points is official, you can all stop complaining about it now.

Ikaruga's mode isn't actually new, it was reported at TGS 2010.
