Could it be Metalgun Slinger?

You freaking rule man.

It's been a very long time and I don't remember the western theme, but I'm sure that must be the one.

...Unless anyone knows of any other similar GBA games that didn't make it out of Japan?

It was about a purple-haired(?) lady(?) waking up(?) onboard of a spaceship(?) and walking around with a massive gun, battling some green(?) blobs. Top down or isometric view à la Alien Syndrome. It wasn't trying to look "realistic" and was most likely Japanese. I'm not sure whether it was all about shooty action or there was some action adventure variety to the gameplay.
Operation Logic Bomb? That's part of the "Angry Fortress" series.

I am looking for a side scrolling shooter. But it was a long time ago i played that game in the arcade's.

I only can give you some things i remember, it is not much:

- it was in the arcade halls when ''dragons lair'' the laserdisc game was ruling the arcades, so that must have been around 1983

- it was a left to right side scrolling shmup
- there were cutscenes of real videofootage, like a movie, with people dressed as marines/pilotes/space generals
- the ship was i think silver, triangle from shape
- the first wave of enemys coming from the right were cubuslike enemy's, turning around there axes and shoot reflashing dots/bullets.
- the background was realistic, maybe with photograhic stuuf or something

it could be a lasergame too, because it was in the arcade next to dragons lair, but i am not sure at all about that.

This game is in my head for more then 15 years, and i never saw it anymore since 1990 i think.

Does some one has a clue?

No, I don't think so. I remember more of a chibi/deformed look (some of the details I mentioned might be fake). Scurge: Hive looks a bit like what I'm searching for.
Ikari no Yousai is an interesting game, but could use faster pacing and a button preventing the dude from walking while he shoots in eight directions. For whatever reason such games have a hard time satisfying my needs. Project Overkill was a missed opportunity (the controls I couldn't get used to), Twinkle Tale, well, I like better than KiKi KaiKai, but still can't quite get over the lack of strafing most of the time. Admittedly, Final Zone (Senki Axis), as spartan as it was on the MD/Genesis, felt just right to me.
It's a crying shame that the genre fell from grace just when cotrollers with dual sticks became standard. Apocalypse on the PSX is such a blast that you have to wonder what went wrong around the time Halo came out.

Anyone remember a sort of RPG/adventure type game from the DOS days? It was shareware and I think it was only $10 for the full version so I bought it, but it turned out to be a rather short game. It had VGA graphics and the combat was turn based. Your character had a regular attack and a magic attack that did more damage but had limitted uses.

Recently, the one neuron I had left that was assigned to remembering this game that I played twice in the mid `90s and never again accidentally switched on after being hit by a cosmic ray and now I am curious about it.
