Actually, Chileans are by and large Catholic, and as any good Christian knows Catholics are not really Christians, as they worship the Pope, who is the representative of Satan on this earth. So I think we can safely say Chile had it coming.

I'm not switching belief systems at random, I am a committed Athiest. For several months, I did switch back to the whole church/Christian thing, and I've had it with the whole lot. I respect Christians on here and their right to believe what they want, but NOT outrageous statements like the one Pat Roberstson made. (Just wait until the next disaster hits, and Robertson will be at it again.) I did NOT make an impulsive or uniformed move here. I am an Atheist, and there's no going back to Christianity, or going to any other religion for that matter. That's all I have to say, and if anyone doubts me, just look at my recent post about having picked up Deathsmiles-I could care less about ANY sexual content in ANY video game anymore.

Yeah, don't sweat it. There isn't a God.
I'd have to have some miracle appear before my eyes before i'd believe that. And then i'd first think "maybe I just have schizophrenia".

People that loose their religion often find other religious like activities to fill it's place. Personally, I suggest becoming a brewer. 8)

Or you could just start playing one of those MMORPG things...

I'm an atheist mostly because I'm just so skeptical about everything. Maybe there is a God and eternal life and all that, but I won't believe it until I see it. I never saw any reason to base my behavior on stuff you can't even see. On the other hand, we can see how our behaviors affect other people, how our consumption of resources is destroying habitats, but we go about pretending that's imaginary. Never made any sense to me how people can be so reverent to something they've no evidence of, but will happily ignore something as long as it's not in their backyard.

Pat Robertson's statements have nothing to do with Christianity. Seeing some cute girls in Deathsmiles has nothing to do with Christianity. Anyway, now that you're an atheist, I'll trade your atheism for an Atari Jaguar with three games. What do you say?

It's a lot easier to believe that somebody else will magically take care of all the big problems and ensure that good and bad people all get what they deserve, while in the meantime you're free to take what you can get (minus the tithe, of course) from the current arrangement until the new world order arrives.

Dunno about that. The last gen Pope wasn't terribly popular in Latin America from what I know. God, on the other hand, is universally popular over there, even with the people who are not into this Christianity thing (or so I heard).

I have come back to God, like the Prodigal Son. Atheism left me dry. Here, some verses from Psalm 73 are relevant:

21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,

22 I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.

23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.

24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Amen!! And, as for Pat Robertson-well, we all say dumb things, which just proves that we all need forgiveness.

Methinks this thread's served its purpose, honestly - time to say an overdue g'night.
