Has Siter Skain given out a release date yet? cos it has been a while in development.
Much, much, worse because there is this sword melee move and it is sooooooo ridiculously overpowered. I can't take the game seriously until that is nerfed a lot. It's an easy fix, I have to hope it will be addressed before release.

You might as well try the demo. I had better memories of the Reflex demo than the full version, which while still good, was a bit of a letdown. Also it will take you forever to wait, since Siter Skain takes years and years and years to release any game. No release date, but Siter Skain is the slowest doujin group in existence, so it will probably be years from now.

Edit: Whoops, didn't read any posts after TVR's.
Observer wrote:By the way, found the RefRain C76 version. Now I think I get why they don't even want to release a trial download. That thing is horribly, hilariously buggy and broken at the moment. Boss fights still feel way too rough or unfinished and you can kill most subosses with a single attack of the overpowered option shots, yet it feels like you take eras to get rid of shitty popcorn enemies. It's a horrible contrast. Oh, and how can I forget of the poor optimisation that introduces nasty slowdowns when using the loli-pilot. The "concept reactor" feels pointless as well or I didn't find a proper use for it. It's a pity, some of the patterns are really cool and fast. The video posted by them looked decent but not I have to join the others and agree this is sinking rather quickly...
Not releasing the demo on their site isn't suspicious at all, lots of groups do that. It's to give people a reason to go to Comiket and seek them out, and I think some groups even charge for demos.

I've never encountered any bugs, the worst programming issue is the loli has terrible lag due to all the flame effects or whatever. Maybe I'm more of an old-school shmupper, but the popcorn seems just fine. The little energy pellets charge up your "concept reactor," that's what lets you use the broken bomb attack. Like I said, it's an easy fix: just ditch the bombs and turn the energy pellets into medals. I love the patterns themselves, the only problem is right now, you never see them, even when playing for score. Loli lag is an easy fix too, they might do that one. Also, if they just severely nerfed the bomb, that would be an ok solution. With the first demo, even if you unloaded max power bomb, you still had a lot of 1st boss left (about half, and bosses can take a lot of hits). With the current 1st boss, you literally just about kill it dead. Which is a pity, it's a really cool boss with really cool patterns, especially for a 1st boss.

Common theme is I can't believe the people behind Kamui and Samidare could lay such turds. Shit like this always happens though, whether doujin or professional.

Won't quote the entire post but, couldn't agree more with you. Shit happens...

The problem with not releasing trials and stuff anywhere is that with Comiket quickly turning into Touhouket, half of the non-Touhou things never even show up anymore or get mentioned anywhere, besides the fact that this time 'round, half the stuff sucked balls and the other half was incomplete...

They do indeed charge for demos and trials but in these cases I guess it's ok considering how much some games change from version to version. Sometimes you would end up playing the trial version more than the final.

Ok, here are the few bugs I spotted in RefRain:

Stage 3 boss will suddenly go off screen, then you can find yourself waiting and waiting for a minute or more. Stage fades to black, no result screen, and goes straight to Stage 4.

I don't know if it was intended or not but Stage 4 bosses are invincible or something. I unloaded shit and hell on them but the health bar wouldn't even move. And I kept pounding for minutes, triggering the concept reactor and crap but, no cigar. I got the feeling they are there to show off. One of their attacks has a nasty, gigantic lag/slowdown-ridden attack on top of an already slowed up lock-on attack and I'm not sure that was intended. Is it possible to clear those dudes that look like Fate/Stay Night rejects?

The hitbox detection also seems to be a bit fishy and when you are hit and lose the shield, all bullets are cleared. It would be a bit more logical to just clear the bullets around the ship... It's giving the player a chance to go upwards and unload a full attack on the boss and maybe that's the idea.

Absolutely agreed on Crimzon Clover. That one surely needs a trial!

That makes sense, all the bugs you described are in stage 4, which I have never seen since I never played the c76 demo. Also, if it's that bad, maybe it was a WIP and not meant to be a distributed demo.

I don't think getting hit used to clear bullets originally, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Maybe you are right. I've noticed that sometimes they call their versions "tests" so I feel that, indeed, some are just limited to few people so they can try it and perhaps directly call the dev or meet him and talk about how to fix bugs and stuff.

I forgot to add they added three continues, pretty much ruining the entire point as you no longer need to put effort to see the later stages. Three continues, three lives and a shield per live. A shield is ok but I would've preferred no continues and perhaps two score extends. I really like score extends after successive and repeated torture sessions with a PS2+DDP-DOJ and ChoRenSha 68k.

edit: this is insane but the song for the first boss of RefRain lasts 6:22 on the ogg file. That's ridiculous (who would waste a 6+ mins song on a 10 seconds fight...) and reinforces the idea that the battle is buggy or worse. I know that if you don't kill it in sight you get a rain of popcorn enemies and pretty patterns but maybe they were planning more?

edit2: the stage 4 bosses seem to be immune to the regular fire so you have to take them down with the secondary weapons. They shoot a wave of destroyable bullets for that purpose. Dunno why placing such a gimmicky fight. There is also this monstrous pause when a yellow lasers attack comes...

Shame Alltynex isnt shaping up too well but ill still hold out for v1.00 no-mater even if it takes a while. Ive got plenty of shmups to get through since im quite new to the genre as a whole. Hopefully Siter Skain and Refrain will get their shit together and make good games.

At first i didnt know what you ment with the miss spell but after only just watching those Crimson Clover vids i was awe struck.
After feeling overspent with too many cute em ups been released these days it was refreashing to see a doujin shooter that so closely mimics traditional arcade shmups.

It was obvious the developer has put alot of work into it so far with the great looking bosses, timed music and the genral look of the game been top notch for doujin.

This has gotta be my most eagery awaited doujin atm, I just hope the dev doesnt screw it up in some way.

^^Just the fact that it's a Doujin STG with ground targets makes it special enough in my book. Add to this a slick designed space ship and what seems to be an interesting scoring mechanic, and it begins to shine amidst all those mediocre looking other titles. Like you said, hopefully the dev doesn't f**** up - would be a shame.
