I'm a "little" under the influence of alcohol, but I gave this a go tonight... Thought I'd try something new with different characters, and also, I got to fight the Black Heart on 2nd stage, which is a first for me. Pretty cool.

Icarus - 5,423,620 - Stage 6 - Strawman (A) / Gain (C) / Silver Sword (B)
(Stage Order: Sky High, Sewer, Airport)

Ended stage 1 with 920k, no miss with Strawman.
Unlocked Bashinet and milked all the little bits and pieces along the way. Those little slow moving missiles on the first form are pretty handy for boosting the Medal values ^_^
Missed the chance to get 300k from Deviate's turret ports (had no bombs handy), but unlocked Black Heart and milked it in the usual Garegga-style way.
Unlocked Gob-Robo and destroyed both the arms. At one point Gob-Robo refused to move back up the screen, and instead attacked me with the spikeball arms from the bottom. So I stayed at the top of the screen and lured the arm to attack me there, and when it did it gave me the Medals in a nice neat little line from bottom to top ^_^
Unlocked Bashinet2, and had little to no difficulty beating it, save for a panic moment when it used the green boomerang attack from both arms >_<

And as you can see, died fighting Tsumujimaru and that flame column attack. (I hate the ninjas more than I hate Envy >_<#)

Score to be improved upon at some point ^_-

...So is that an all clear, or stage 5, or what? I'm aiming for that #3 spot in Normal.

Lost my chain on Colliseum and died stupidly on Sobut.

Many Thanks to cigs and Icarus for the detailed STRAT!
The only change to Icarus's advice was to put Strawman (A) as the second character - this seems to work best for me.

I'll continue to try to get the 1CC on Advance Course

+ try to complete Icarus's Blunt - Sobut - Envy route on Normal in an effort to get 6mil.

Holy crap! Kicked into third place >_<

You must be dropping a few points in places, DEL, if you just edged past my score after Sobut, as I achieved my score and popped my clogs at Tsumujimaru -_-;; Although I guess if anyone can improve on my strategies, it'll be you and Cigs ^_^

I tend to have Strawman first as I find it easier to get 1.1mil after Conflict with him, although it makes milking Boredom a bit harder. I haven't tried Silver Sword first, as it seems harder to get the required points from the first stage, but I can see how it works with regards to boss unlocking (two stages and one extra Extend buffer), although it doesn't give you much room for error when unlocking Gob-Robo. A good target score I find is 4.5mil at Bazzcok (fourth stage), for the third Extend.

Good luck anyway ^_^ I'm bouncing around games at the moment, as I have little time to play now. Batrider might be back in the rotation at some point.

Icarus - Yep, I'm scoring considerably lower than you (by distance). An ALL with that route will pull over 6mil for you. I can't get 1.1mil for ST1, nor can I improve on your strategy. I owe my score so far entirely to you.

Ramus - Yes its an addictive fun game. I don't tire of it and it rarely makes me angry (unlike titles by certain 'other' companies).

NORMAL COURSE:

Was pretty confident I could make progress here. Beat Gob-Robo with Strawman active and two spare Extends. Lost Strawman fighting Bashinet2, but got lucky that Bashi2 gave me all the easy patterns to dodge (I hate those green boomerang things).

Then Tsumujimaru turned up and handed me my ass in several different, incredibly irritating ways (I hate that flame column attack).

I'll beat this bloody game yet >_<#

On a side note, I've worked out how to consistently get Special Shot and Special Option Powerups in stage 2, so I know if I can pass Tsumujimaru and Hayatemaru, I'll have all Three Rivals to play with ^_^

Mills strolled in and watched me play a credit of Advance course. He'd never seen Batrider before, so I suggested he play a credit of Normal course to warm up on the game. He sat down an 1CC'd Normal on his first go ever.
